Welcome to our corner of Paradise..This fine villa is set in the warm and timeless landscape of south eastern Sicily, one of the beautiful and suggestive part of the region,on the foot-hills of the enchanting town of Modica. From the Villa's private swimming pool, views extend over hills and valleys capped by the steeples of Baroque Modica is only a scant mile away. The garden, with its succulent fruit trees and the scent of jasmine, is a peaceful and picturesque setting for guests to enjoy the Sicilians way of life. Dining by the pool, where there is a barbeque (Gas & Charcoal) and furnished Gazebo, makes the perfect setting to enjoy the 'alfresco experience'. The villa's location offers total privacy to enjoy a relaxing holiday ideal for working on a total tan; and leave feeling relaxed, rested and looking forward to your next stay in Sicily. Private parking is available for up to 8 cars. The Pool is salt water, no more smell of chlorine, red eyes or dry skin. Villa Modica is five minutes by car from the centre of Modica. In March 2003 UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)has acknowledged that the city of Modica and its surrounding areas to be added to the world heritage list for the baroque treasures it holds in its historic buildings and architectural design unique only to this part of Sicily, in Modica was filmed the renowned Italian TV series 'Inspector Montalbano' that's been showing on BBC3, the town built between two valleys and hills is known for its Baroque architecture, has restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and shops. Modica is also called the Positano of Sicily the town of Modica was so particular until the middle of the last century that it was called the second Venice of Italy: it is situated on the valley where two torrents merge into each other and there were a lot of large and small bridges to connect the zones of the lower area.

At the villa we have a secure full size play ground of 140 sq meters for the children to enjoy with lots of toys, plus Netflix for movies and children entertainment ..On January 2012 BBC 2 broadcast a TV series Sicily Unpacked,Episode 2 was filmed right here in Modica,Andrew Graham-Dixon and Giorgio Locatelli took part of this fascinating journey through Sicily, Andrew and Giorgio explored the legacy of Spain's 500-year occupation of the island and the influence this has had on art and culture. And it's not only art that is experiencing a resurrection on the island but agriculture too: the wine, that only 20 years ago was considered only good enough for blending vats on the continent, is now one of the most fashionable in Europe and is being exported all over the world. The Villa is located on a strategic point: this part of Sicily has an abundance of art, archaeology, history, breathtaking scenery and of course wonderful food to offer. You will certainly be inspired by the brilliance and beauty of the town, by the stunning, secluded beaches, tranquil vineyards, ancient olive groves. And you can also explore Mount Etna, the greatest volcano of Europe, Catania, a splendid city lying between Etna and the Ionian Sea, Syracuse, with its temples, its Greek Theatre and Roman Amphitheatre, and its Ear of Dionysius, Ragusa, with its traces of human settlements dating from as early as the 3rd millennium BC. Or, if you prefer something really breathtaking, why not go to Agrigento and see the Valley of the Temples?Anyway, the list of wonders that are waiting for you is too long to be written here. But Villa Modica is a perfect choice even if you just decide to indulge your senses spending lazy afternoons and suntanning..

Guestbook comments from the owner

Superb value and if you like your own space, this villa has it. Enjoyed Most: Garden areas and pool - they are beautiful and huge! Unpleasant Surprises: This is a tough question as this is a beautiful villa. The master beds were a little uncomfortable. Surrounding Area: Lovely rural aspect. Tips or Restaurants: Be aware there are no taxi services in Modica after 8pm. La Torre d'Oriente is an excellent restaurant. Overall: The owner was the perfect host. He was always available but never intruded. We loved having the meal ready Saturday when we arrived along with some provisions. After a long, tiring travel period, that was wonderful and delicious! Enjoyed Most: The meticulous attention the owner gave to his property and the villa. The beautiful views. Unpleasant Surprises: Italian beds never seem to meet American standards. Surrounding Area: Modica is a truly charming town. Good shopping, good restaurants, great ambiance.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

The property and location are truly amazing but the best aspect was the sincere and friendly property owner. Giorgio went above and beyond in assisting us in all our needs from transportation to restaurants to garden vegetables. It was touching that there was a meal awaiting us upon arrival. The location is handy to grocery store, cafe, town of Modica and tourist spots. The pool and balcony areas allowed for great relaxation areas with a large group. Highly recommend this villa!

Fantastico!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, well-equipped villa in a gorgeous setting with everything you could ask for, including fantastic hosts (Giorgio, Nina and family) who really helped us get the most out of our holiday. We arrived to Nina's amazing home-made lasagne, sausages and potatoes, as well as a keg of red wine and bottle of prosecco. Giorgio and Nina were so welcoming and there to help us whenever we needed it, whilst always respecting our privacy. They recommended and accompanied us to some excellent restaurants, helped us with supermarket shopping, ordered pizzas and recommended a local cook, who came and cooked us a traditional Italian meal for a very reasonable price. They really made our holiday special.

The villa itself had everything we needed and was extremely child friendly, with a gated playground and swimming pool (so no worries about safety) and lots of toys. It was well-situated, overlooking the lovely town of Modica and within relatively easy reach of other attractions, including gorgeous sandy beaches. It almost goes without saying that we would highly recommend it!

Paradise at Modica!!

  • 5 of 5

For our second time we have stayed at Villa Modica, but we now call it our home away from home. From the moment we arrived it was fantastic!!! To seeing Giorgio (owner) & his lovely family, to the comfort and beauty of his villa.

Whatever we needed, it was there! From, appliances, to linens, to food, to herbs etc... it was all there at the villa!

Thank you to Antonella, Giorgio's wonderful wife, who had welcomed us with a home cooked meal. Let's not forget the abundance of wine that dear Giorgio made available to us.

Giorgio, a friend that we have made for life! A man who devotes himself to his family, friends and guests at his villa. Always available 24/7!!!

Thank you Giorgio for introducing us to our dear friends Ken & Alena from Scotland. Spending those days with all of you was memorable!

The villa was immaculate! The grounds were spectacular! Surrounded by different types of fruit trees, wonderful herbs, inviting pool, and Luna the cat! How we looked forward to breakfast in the veranda, with gorgeous view of Modica. Whether we wanted to laze around the pool or stay in the bar-b-que section of the villa where it was well shaded, we had a fantastic time!! We absolutely adore your villa and how we are welcomed. Of course we will be back only next time our stay there will be extended to 3 weeks!!!! We can not get enough of Villa Modica and Giorgio!!! Until the next time our dear friend!! There is no one like you Giorgio!!

friends for life,

Gisella & Gaspare

Best Vacation Ever

  • 5 of 5

Located in Modica – the chocolate capital of Sicily - with 4 bedrooms. 3 1/2 bathrooms, swimming pool, kitchen, gardens… Indoor dining, outdoor dining… It almost looked too good to be true.

I sent off an email inquiry and received a reply back immediately from the owner, George.

How little did I know that that simple email was going to set off a chain of events that culminated in possibly the best and most relaxing vacation we have ever had.

The villa is stunning. The grounds are beautiful. Everything is a mixture of new and old – with all of the modern conveniences.

But the real gem of Villa Modica is the owner, George – and his attention to detail and ability to read his guests and fulfill their every wish. From ricotta-making and wine tasting to some of the best seafood I have ever eaten, or directions to anywhere, George was there.

He was available and completely unobtrusive. But more than anything else, he was real and genuine and exuded warmth and friendliness. There is nothing phony or contrived about him. He is more than willing to go out of his way to make your visit unforgettable. Actually, I should rephrase that – nothing is out of his way. I’d love to have him as my neighbor.

The villa is situated a couple of kilometers from the center of town – rural without being isolated – and in a valley that shimmers with the lights above.

Everything you need is within reach – with the ultimate in privacy.

The rooms are all good sized and six of us were never im each others way. One could move off to a different section of the villa or out to the extensive grounds and enjoy the quiet and solitude – or join in a raucous game of cards in the over-sized kitchen, outdoor eating area, or in the gazebo by the pool.

The grounds are full of organic produce for the eating, from artichokes to lemons, numerous herbs, grapes, wild fennel… we had stuffed artichokes one night. Best I’ve ever had.

And best I’ve ever had can be said of so much of our stay. From the dinner that was awaiting us when we arrived – homemade lasagne, sausages, potatoes, and peppers, and more wine than we could consume – to the relaxation by the pool and listening to the quiet.

No hidden fees or costs. I can’t wait to go back.

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My family and I will be visiting Villa Modica for the third time this year and we cannot wait to return. This is truly paradise- from the aroma of jasmine that greets you, to the breathtaking Sicilian hillside views, to the enormous and glamorous pool, to the beautiful spacious house with a layout where you will never feel cramped- words truly cannot describe how much we love visiting Villa Modica. We look forward to seeing Giorgio, Antonella and family even more than the house as they are the most wonderful and gracious hosts you can imagine. They have become family to us and have shown us a side of Sicily we would have never seen without them. They will make your trip one you will never forget.

I highly recommend the chef Maria, all of her meals are out of this world and prepared from scratch, including homemade pastas and breads. She is fantastic.

Whether you are looking to relax or to sightsee this is the place for you, lazy days by the natural saltwater pool or the beautiful local beach, or visiting the town for some delicious arancini and the spectacular sites, you will not regret staying here. Friends always ask why we don't try a new place to visit and its very simple, go and you will know why!

From the Owner

We have it all for a great family vacation, in ground solar heated salt water pool, tennis court, large playground, Happy Farm Educational Activities, its like being at a resort at a great value, the villa is strategically located just a scant mile away from the city centre of the Medieval baroque city of Modica famous for being a friendly and a feel good city, from the villa you can see the panoramic view of the city resting on the hill, it has the feel of a nativity scenery, just looking out of the front door it takes the breath away. The city is renowned for its rich culinary tradition offering an amazing variety of seasonal dishes that follow the sicilian traditions. Sweet and savoury dishes, summer and winter food are on offer for a real taste of the county. That's why we bought this villa.
