Stone Cottage With Magnificent Mountain and Village Views

Updated: 24-Oct-2016
Cottage in Soller, Mallorca, Spain - Peaceful, Romantic And Inspiring Setting

Tranquillity, privacy and spectacular views perfectly describe this charming hilltop casita, the origins of which are thought to be as a winter livestock shelter then a wine store for produce from the property itself. Opening onto a leafy terrace, the large timber beamed bedroom has a king size mattress on a sandstone base. Three steps up through an archway is the open plan kitchen/dining/living room which opens on to another two terraces with sun lounges and al fresco dining areas. The cottage is insulated and has reverse cycle airconditioning, wood stove in bedroom and wood fire in lounge. Park off street under Sa Viña’s shady lemon trees, and meander to the casita. Part of the path is quite steep but the view justifies 3 or 4 minute walk. Sa Viña is a perfect retreat for those wanting relaxation or recreation. Help yourself to seasonal fruit including grapes, oranges and figs, (delicious and chemical free). Satellite TV, DVD and CD player, WIFI and books are there for your enjoyment.

.It has been a great place to stay.Hope to stay again next year for longer, Pauline and John Sept 2014. .We love the house! Thanks, Jay. December 2013.

.Home now - tired and cold! Problem is no pic can do that view justice  - and you don't get the tinkle of the sheep bells, or the rattle of tram in the valley, or the sweet aroma of the orange blossom. Thanks again. Regards,Stephen. April 2014.

. Had a great stay. Loved the house and the location and was a great holiday all round. Peter. March 2014. . 3 times earlier we have had a wonderful vacation in your cottage in Soller. Once again we would very much like to spend a vacation there....Irene and Bo, June 2014.

Walkers Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Sa Vina was beyond all our expectations, luxury Majorcan style with all the home from home comforts. A very private elevated position with unrivalled views over the Soller Valley. The wrap around terrace with fruit groves next to the outdoor pergola offered the opportunity of either sun or shade throughout the day.

A beautiful and tranquil setting situated perfectly for all the local walks but still with easy access into Soller and the Port, via a scenic foothpath that we enjoyed time and time again.

Marg and Chris are perfect hosts and supplied everything we needed that for us was the most enjoyable month we can remember.

Some people search for Paradise, Shangrila or Nirvana, but we have found Sa Vina.

Thank you Marg and Chris for a truly special holiday that will never be forgotten.

Wonderful holiday property

  • 5 of 5

Sa Vina is a very special and unique holiday home. It has the feel of a traditional Mallorcan cottage but has all mod cons. So comfortable and relaxing! Decor is tasteful and charming. The view from the terrace is so superb you could sit there all day! On this occasion we did not hire a car yet were easily able to enjoy many local walks and the short walk into Soller through olive and lemon groves was a pleasure. Margaret and Chris are just perfect hosts: never intrusive but so friendly and helpful if you need them. Our holiday was perfect apart from being too short. Back home we are missing the warmth of the sun and the scent of the orange blossom. Our first visit but would love to return. Sandra and John Woodcock

Outstanding value and taste

  • 5 of 5

This was our 5th visit to Sa Vina, and we are already discussing when to go back again.

Although we really do like to try different holiday destinations, we simply cannot resist returning to this 'casita' on the almond and olive terraces overlooking the wonderful town of Soller, in the Tramontana mountains.

Sa Vina has real rustic charm, and has been designed and decorated will style and taste. It is also comfortable, and to us feels like a second home.

We are walkers, and enjoy self catering in the evenings, and lunching out at the many local and Mallorca-wide restaurants. We particularly like the cooperativa and the mercado in Soller for the best quality local produce. Port Soller; Soller; Fornalutz; Palma and Pollenca have many superb eating out options.

It is an excellent base for exploring the local countryside and Tramuntana mountains.

Mountain retreat with breath-taking views

  • 5 of 5

This is our third or fourth (who's counting?) time at Sa Viña and it never disappoints.

A completely tranquil little spot in the mountains with amazing views over Soller. The sense of peace here is overwhelming.

We woke up each morning to the sound of cockerels and sheep bells and would throw the doors open to reveal the amazing view over the valley. Then a wander out into the garden to collect our oranges from the surrounding trees to make a delicious juice to help the wake up process.

The fabulous terrace is the best place to sit and contemplate the world when the sun's out. When it gets cooler, the wood burners inside create a cosy, romantic environment in which to snuggle down and read books, listen to music etc.

All in all the perfect spot for a relaxing, authentic Mallorcan stay..

Thanks Marg and Chris for your wonderful hospitality!

Owner's Response: Fabulous! Thank you for your lovely comments. We understand when you have busy lives the importance of contemplation and re-charging the batteries and luckily SaViña creates the right atmosphere. It was a real pleasure to meet you and Simon, because we don't often get the chance to meet our guests.

Super Sa Vina!

  • 5 of 5

As with all the other reviewers we had a lovely time at Sa Vina. It's a great location and a cosy, relaxing place even in winter, with a woodburner and big comfy bed. Great to open the shutters in the morning and look out across the lovely Soller valley and mountains. Thank you for the warm and friendly welcome Marg and Chris.

From the Owner

This is a very comfortable house, usually with cool breezes across the terrace in the summer, and fireside sofas where you can read or watch tv in the cooler weather. The bedroom is the original casita (or small house) with a 2m x 2m bed on a sandstone base. The open plan lounge/dining/kitchen was added some time ago. We made the beams by hand using a mould and table loaned by a friend's father. Recycled doors and windows were sourced from friends and neighbours and walls were constructed around them! That history is a story for another day....

Amenities in Soller or Puerto Soller are only a very short drive away. It will take about 20 minutes to stroll to the village, and a little longer to walk to the Port.

What previous clients have said: We have just returned home from a lovely sunny Mallorca to a wet and cold UK.We wanted to thank you and let you know that Ian had a lovely time and really enjoyed the place. It is delightful and the views from the terrace are stunning. We have friends whom we are sure would love it too and will recommend it to them.Susie. January 2014 We would like you to know that we've had a wonderful week in your nice casita Sa Vina! The whole casita is furnished and arranged with love and everything you need is there. We liked the Majorcan style with the nice flagging especially in the bathroom and the gorgeous "stone-walled" sleeping-room. We've had a real good time having breakfast in the sun on the terrace (always with your delicious oranges), and having dinner outside with this wonderful view to Sóller (always with delicious fresh lemon-water)! Maybe we can come back some day...we miss it already. Thanks a lot! We will recommend your cottage. Kind regards 04/04/11. We have been meaning to contact you to thank you for the opportunity to stay in beautiful Sa Vina in November. The weather was lovely and we were so happy to have a fire in the cool evenings after enjoying the great walks in the area during the day. 10/11/10. We have had a wonderful 2 weeks in perfect Mallorca weather with temperatures 30ºC+ so thank God for the AC in the bedroom. Sa Vina is a bloody marvel. We felt at home from the first minute.

From the Owner

We love the view to Soller from the terrace from early morning right through to night time, when the village lights shine. Figs, grapes, oranges, lemons, pears, apricots and apples are some of the seasonal fruit you are welcome to enjoy - help yourself! There's plenty of off street parking among the lemon trees, views from the path to the house, and privacy once you arrive. Free wifi, TV, books, maps - everything to make your stay relaxing. It's a pleasant stroll in to Soller, or to the Port for a swim.
