Villa near Comares, Andalucia - Peaceful Location On Outskirts Of National Park

This country Villa is situated in an olive grove, set in an acre of private land, which falls down the hillside to a little stream. Although very secluded, it is easily accessible from the road and there is ample parking. Wild boar still live on Mazmullar Mountain, which rises behind the Villa & many species of bird inhabit this area, including Golden Orioles, Bee Eaters, Nightingales, Wood rock thrushes, Red rumped swallows to name but a few. The ancient Moorish water systems nearby are well worth a visit. The nearest hamlet (5 mins drive) is Los Ventorros, situated on the road to Comares. It has a restaurant, bar and small shop, selling essentials. It is 10 minutes drive to the mountaintop village of Comares with narrow, winding cobbled streets, restaurants and even a small supermarket. This region with its spectacular views and mountain paths, is a favorite with walkers and bird watchers. The villa is family run with help at hand and many repeat bookings.

This is an "upside down" house. Downstairs there is a bedroom with king size bed and en suite bathroom with bath, over bath shower, basin and bidet. The family room has a king size and a single bed and the third bedroom has bunk beds and a single bed. There is also a family bathroom with bath, over bath shower, basin and bidet.

Upstairs is the large main living room with sliding doors leading onto a balcony. Also on this floor are the kitchen and dining room which leads onto an upper floor terrace. There is a double sofa bed in this room.

Outside on the ground floor is a very large terrace with barbecue and table tennis and the large pool with bar and lockable gates. Towards the top of the drive is a badminton court.

We have lived in Comares since the 1980s and our children grew up here. We built this house and our property in the village of Comares ourselves. Apart from looking after our rental houses and guests we renovate older properties for longer term letting.

This house and its situation in an olive grove make for a wonderfully peaceful and secluded holiday. Although within easy reach of major destinations, it is spacious enough to spend the whole time here enjoying the pool, table tennis and badminton if you just want a restful time.

Notes on accommodation: Central heating for cooler months. Fans for summer. Bedroom 1 has en suite and private patio,bedroom 2 has air conditioning. Villa suitable for families with children. Outside: Private landscaped pool (9m x 5m) with underwater lighting, barbecue, shower among the boulders. Bar with CD player and fridge. Outdoor table and chairs. The pool area is hedged in and the arched doorway has lockable gates. Table tennis. Badminton court. Ample private parking adjacent to villa. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The Villa will be cleaned before arrival. (Please bring beach towels, if possible). Other: The dining room with attractive wooden furniture, is conveniently positioned beside the kitchen area. The door leads out onto a further terrace with a swing seat shaded by olive trees.

Well equipped, comfortable villa

Villa was comfortable and had everything we needed and more! Nice to see that it had not been stripped of things like salt and pepper, washing up liquid, matches etc. as we have found in rented villas before. Clair met us as arranged and showed us around.

The pool was lovely and the bar area was a useful addition. (A couple of hornets by the pool but they were not a problem and just flew around for a bit and didn't bother us.)

Only downside when we were there was wasps which we know there is nothing anyone can do about. We were constantly driven indoors by them and had to keep doors and windows closed most of the time. Suggest taking precautions if allergic. We were unable to use the BBQ due to the wasps which got very agitated.

The El Molino restaurant was good and local. (The Table Mountain restaurant was closed when we were there but a sign showed it should be open again soon.)

We would be happy to come here again.

Owner's Response: We are pleased that our guests were happy with Casa la Vereda, apart from the wasps, which we are very sorry about .This year October has been considerably hotter than usual, which may have contributed. I'll look into ways of controlling them for the future

Great pool and bar

We had a lovely time in here in July/August 2017. The pool and bar were great and the villa comfortable. The local town of Comares is very pretty and we enjoyed a few days there. The roads up and down the mountain do (of course) have a lot of twists and turns.

vacance trés dé-paysante

Nous venons tous juste de rentré de notre séjour en Andalousie

où nous étions partie en famille

nous avion réservé cette villa qui est situé a 5Km de COMARES

petit village montagnard typique où les habitant sont très accueillant et chaleureux

il ne faut juste pas avoir peur des pentes car elles sont raide

l'endroit est fabuleusement reposant

il n'y a aucun bruit ci ce n'est celui des cigales et des oiseaux qui chante

l'endroit est vraiment exceptionnel si vous voulez profité

en famille même grande ou entre amis sans trop bougé

car c'est je dirait le seul inconvénient de la situation géographique de la villa

il vous faudra environ 40min de voiture pour descendre de la montagne d'un côté ou de l'autre

nous n'avons pas pu profité pleinement de la piscine ou du terrain de tennis

car nous n'avons pa eut des températures très élevé,

mais celle-ci ne demandé cas nous accueillir la journée

ou même la soirée avec ces lumière bleu, elle est magnifique

voilà je vais m'arrêter là et vous laisserai découvrir le reste par vous même

Approx.1 hour to Malaga Airport. Car rental is also at the airport Car hire is recommended but taxis are also available: local taxi approx. 50 euros airport to villa, 7 euros villa to comares. (Subject to change)


Approx 40 mins drive to Velez-Malaga with Aquapark, shopping centre with cinema, large supermarket-Eroski,where you may need your passport to back up your credit card.

Approx. 40 mins drive to Torre del Mar(beach, market, go-karting and golf).

Further Details:

The glorious countryside around Comares would appeal to photographers, bird watchers, hikers, artists and mountain bikers.

The Alhambra Palace at Granada, Seville, Cordoba and Ronda are all within striking distance.

Provisional bookings can be made by e-mail or telephone. Please book your flight as a matter of urgency. A non-refundable Deposit of 25% is required to make a firm booking. The balance will be due 6 weeks before your holiday begins or in cash on arrival.

Changeover Day:
We are very flexible on changeover day, apart from peak season in July and August . Please arrive between 17.00 and 21.00 local time, if possible (please specify approx. time of arrival). Please leave by 10.00 on day of departure.

Notes on prices:
Prices shown are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Special deals for couples or small groups:150 per person (min 2 people) outside high and mid season (June, July, Aug, Sept). Long-Term lets available: 1st November to 15th March, 500 pounds per month for the house inc electricity. Gas for central heating not included. Minimum stay 8 weeks.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
