About the Owner

In 2001 we quit the London rat race and our careers in travel and music, sold up and ran away to Spain for a change of pace and some adventure. We bought what was then a rundown 19th Century traditional Spanish farmhouse or cortijo and spent the next two years painstakingly pouring our hopes and dreams into making the perfect modern traditional Spanish farmhouse.

We gradually transformed it into an Andalucian dream home with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (including a stunning large round hydrotherapy bath), a large modern kitchen, a huge living room and an enormous dining room. There is also a 2 bedroom en suite annexe by the pool.

With wifi, air con and beautiful private gardens, it has everything we ever wanted. We are back in England now for family reasons but still love visiting!

Guestbook comments from the owner

The villa is very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped. One of the bathrooms is really beautiful (big Jacuzzi with beautiful view to the surroundings). The villa has a nice terrace with nice areas with plants and many tables and sitting corners, a refreshing pool and a green garden. The villa is located near the highways to the major cities of Andalucía: Malaga, Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada. Antequera is located at 15 minutes and has three dolmens, a medieval Alcazaba, many baroque churches, El Torcal (a marvellous mountain area with beautiful rocks) and Lobo Park (park with many wolves). Also nearby is an area with beautiful lakes and the Caminito del Rey, a walking path hanging on a high mountain wall.

Explore Andalucia from a wonderful villa

  • 5 of 5

This is a large and attractive villa in very spacious, well maintained gardens with a lovely pool. Everything was in order when we arrived, and in very clean and tidy condition. The kitchen is particularly well equipped, and the "IT" - wifi, TV etc all worked well. We are experienced renters, and had little reason to contact the local manager, who did however make himself known to us and did provide some useful local tips - judging from comments in the guest book he has proved very helpful on many occasions to others. We had the indulgence of renting this large villa as a couple, and it was a great indulgence. It was obvious however that it would lend itself superbly to a larger family group. There was a heat wave when we stayed and we were so grateful for the quality and efficiency of the air conditioning overnight! The villa is marvellously situated for exploring the area; Antequera is close by, and Osuna, Cordoba, The Torcal, Seville and Granada are all within fairly easy reach by car, or in the case of Seville and Cordoba also by express train. The heat limited us to Antequera, the Torcal and Osuna on this occasion! In summary, the villa is just as described and illustrated, the owners are a pleasure to deal with, and I would not hesitate to recommend this for a holiday destination.

Something for everyone

  • 5 of 5

Had a great two weeks here. House was extremely well appointed and equipped, with everything you could think of and spotlessly clean on arrival. The air con made the hot nights comfortable and the pool was fantastic during the day with temperatures being so high. Kids loved the well kept pool with there being lots of pool toys already left by previous people and the gardens were even bigger than imagined. Plenty of places for playing hide and seek. They were immaculately kept and it was great looking for all the different fruit trees. The plums were lovely which were ripening our second week here. The Spanish gardener does a great job and being that we had two weeks, we could practice our Spanish with him on his arrival. An abundance of books in the lounge, for those wanting to tuck themselves away in a nice shaded corner of the garden to read. Paul the manager was helpful in telling us where places were and suggested various places to eat, or you could just drive to the beautiful town of Antequera a few minutes away, to see for yourself. Chris and Ursula, the owners, were extremely prompt in answering every single one of my emails if I had any queries. Las Vinas has something for everyone and we hardly left the house during our stay, so I would thoroughly recommend. Would definitely go back again, if only to try the garlic chicken and chips served up in the village on a Sunday from the mobile guy that stops in Molina. We just ran out of time. I could go on but see for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful Villa

  • 5 of 5

A very lovely villa, and typically Spanish, with pretty gardens, containing all manner of fruit trees! We were a large group with children and everything we needed was catered for. The pool was lovely. The villa was clean and well looked after. Antequera is nearby, and a beautiful town which we all loved and visited more than a couple of times. The owners have been very quick to respond to any questions we have had, and on site management was good too. A villa to recommend.

Great villa for big groups

  • 5 of 5

We have had a lovely time in a VERY well equipped villa both inside and in relation to seating outside. The grounds of the villa were lovely and we enjoyed the figs from the trees, although there where so many I don't think we made a dent in them. All correspondence with the owners of the villa has been first class and nothing has been too much trouble for them. We would, however recommend you have a car as the area is quiet (which is great for a get away from it all) but if you wish to explore then a car is essential. A local cafe in Mollina gave us excellent service but other restaurants were closed which was a shame as we looking forward to visiting La Casa. The hotel closer to the villa was good but mainly English use it as there is an English holiday park next door, the farmers market which is held at the hotel on a Wednesday was interesting! The addition of free wifi was great and so was the use of TV for when the teenagers had had enough of the adults.

A great fortnight in the sun.

  • 5 of 5

A lovely villa with all the amenities you need for a wonderful holiday in the sun. Ideal position for Malaga Airport, visiting the local area and also for supermarkets/restaurants at nearby Antequerra. Fabulous master bedroom with Jacuzzi bath en-suite, along with sufficient bedrooms to sleep 12 in all quite easily. Fully equipped kitchen/utility/laundry and the air conditioning in rest of house was a real bonus. Swimming pool and surrounding gardens + BBQ area were also great - lots of space for sunbathing and extra sunbeds were delivered while we were there when we suggested there were not enough - excellent service. Caretaker Paul was excellent too, helpful and handy and we could be in email contact with owners when we wanted to be (good wifi in and out of house).

Only niggles were the flies - probably from dung-heap at vineyard next door but we compensated by drinking the fine wine from said vineyard, and also needed a bit more shade round the pool (as there were 11 of us) but we purchased a few more parasols from local hardware store at very reasonable prices (and left them for future guests).

We spent lots of time poolside and catered for ourselves from the BBQ most of the time - but also visited the the Water Park at Velez-Malaga, Ronda, The Alhambra Palaces at Granada and The Lakes.

Two weeks of glorious sunshine - hardly a cloud in the sky and temperatures in the high 30s.

We would most certainly recommend the villa to others.

From the Owner

When we moved to Spain, we considered living on the coast but really wanted a taste of the real Spain. After a lot of research, both online and in person, we chose to live in Antequera. It is a beautiful medieval city of about 60,000 people and offers a great mixture of traditional and modern Spanish culture in a very friendly and peaceful area. It also has all the requirements of the modern world such as broadband, great shops (including English food shops) and restaurants. The clincher is that it is literally at the crossroads of Andalucia. The great cities of Granada, Seville, Malaga and Cordoba plus all the hectic beach resorts are all only 30 to 60 minutes drive away and there are three airports you can fly into - Malaga, Granada and Seville.

Special interest holidays:

This is a great place for a group of artists or photographers.

For sports people, there are lots of places to walk or run.

If you love Go Karting, we are near Campillos Go Karting track.

Climbing, painting, cross country running.

We are just 25 miles north of Malaga, so all the hectic tourist destinations of the Costa Del Sol are within an easy drive.

The nearest international airports are Malaga, Seville and Granada, all about 45 minutes drive. The drive from Granada is particularly beautiful...

Car hire is essential unless you do not intend to leave the property during your stay!

We are located between the beautiful ancient city of Antequera (which is about 10 minutes away) and the wine and olive oil making village of Mollina about a mile up the road.

Antequera is the natural crossroads of the region with the historic cities of Cordoba, Granada, Malaga and Seville all under an hour's easy drive by great connecting motorways.

Further Details:

Antequera has all the usual attractions of any major county town, from shopping centres, bars and restaurants to museums and historical artefacts.

Other attractions include the stunning El Torcal National Park; The Wolf Park, where you can actually howl with the wolves; and the 5,000 year old ancient burial dolmens.

From the Owner

Our villa is in a fantastic location. It is literally surrounded by grapevines, almond trees and olive groves but the fantastic new motorways to the coast (35 minutes), Granada (45 min), Cordoba (50 minutes) and Seville (60 min) are just 2km away, hidden behind a hill. You can enjoy a taste of the real Spain and visit any of the great tourist attractions so easily, without having to suffer all the noise and chaos that comes with them. On the other hand, with a great kidney shaped pool and an acre of completely private landscaped gardens, many people almost never leave the property. The gardens include a vine covered illuminated pergola, lots of different fruit trees, a tree sun clock that always offers a shady refuge and a hand built hill to overlook the surrounding vineyards.
