We have four ground-floor holiday apartments in a quiet site between pine woods alpine meadows and ski lifts near Combloux village. They are cosy in winter, and sensibly laid out with plenty of storage space (for floor plan, see image above). Quality accommodation at low cost for family holidays. The apartments are adjacent, which is perfect for families and friends to holiday together but choose when to eat, sleep, watch a DVD, shower, or chill out. They are equipped with British families in mind. There is 24hr key access and beds are made up ready for arrivals.(Hint: read reviews for each unit)

The apartments have electric radiators and their own immersion heaters (hot water when YOU want it).

Combloux is an unspoilt traditional Savoie village, not frequented by the UK tour companies but it was one of the first ski resorts established in France due to its good snow record, magnificent views of Mont Blanc and excellent central position. It is only 8 miles from the autoroute to Calais or Geneva.

We use this site to control bookings so availability is correct and you can "book now". If you do, you give card details but no payment is taken unless we confirm within 24 hours. You would then pay half price, the remainder together with £100 security deposit is due 30 days before your holiday. If you "query now" we are happy to answer questions and hold a firm option so that you can confirm travel before committing. Before you book with us or any other owner be sure to understand access, layout of beds, rules and cancellation terms - they vary.

There is an entrance cabin that serves as a hall during the day and bedroom at night. This has twin superimposed bunk beds. It has doors to: the bathroom with shower over the bath; a separate toilet; the lounge and a separate double bedroom. The bedroom has a double bed and a built-in wardrobe. The lounge contains a sofa that quickly converts to a comfortable double bed. It is very well equipped including TV, DVD, radio/CD and WIFI. In one corner there is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave oven/grill, and two hotplates and comprehensive selection of utensils. French windows open onto a sunny ground floor patio.

About the Owner

We bought the apartments in 1991 for our own family holidays and have been letting ever since.

We wanted to holiday with friends but not dictate what they did and when, so we started with two small apartments instead of one large one. We enjoy meeting and skiing with newcomers and helping them to enjoy family holidays.

We created one of the first booking websites and have introduced hundreds of UK families to this beautiful village. Many are regular visitors and several have bought their own apartments.

Highly recommended and beautiful location

We have been staying in this area for over 10 years in both Summer and Winter. We have stayed in BYCAR properties twice and just booked for next year. The location of the apartment is excellent, really quiet and within walking distance of the lifts. It is great for us as a family with young children. The apartments are really comfortable and well laid out for swallowing all our ski gear with ease.

This is real wooden ski chalet in a small alpine village rather than concrete block in a purpose built ski resort. We don't come here for night life, preferring to take a long lunch in the excellent restaurants on the slopes and then spend the evenings in the apartment playing games. It is perfectly comfortable and nice for doing this and also has mod cons like tv , dvd and wifi if you are so inclined.

Access to ski areas is great with the portes du mont blanc pass giving ample runs for a family at a very reasonable price. Ski school is also very good and reasonable.

The owners are very helpful and knowledgeable.

We would highly recommend this location and properties for a family ski holiday.

Great Skiing Base

Combloux is a lovely family resort with a reasonably large and varied ski area and superb views of Mont Blanc. If desired, access to even more skiing area can be obtained by purchasing the more expensive Evasion lift pass. Apt X provided comfortable, clean accommodation with all the necessary amenities including WIFI and has a convenient layout. The apt is a short walk, 10 mins? (albeit uphill) from the main La Cry ski area with ski hire, lift passes, ESF ski school and some restaurants. During the day there is a regular free ski bus “navette” down to the main Combloux village for further shops and food supplies. I have been booking with the owners for several years and always find them very friendly and helpful with excellent communication and have no hesitation to booking again for next year!

Super apartment

This a lovely little apartment in a lovely little resort. If you are into apres ski and nightlife, Combloux is not for you. But if you want great skiing, comfortable and clean accomodation, friendly owners, easy to get to, cheap lift passes and loads more then you could do far worse. We have been coming back here for 5 years. Apt X does sleep 6 OK, but we find it comfortable for 4 when eating and sitting down for the evening.

Good family holiday

We are family of six and have stayed in Bob and Tricia's apartment X for several years sometimes it has been twice a year February and at Christmas. We generally arrive late on a Saturday night so the beds been made up is very helpful.

Bob and Trisha also organise a new years party at one of the local restaurant / bars.

We would happily recommend apartment X for a family skiing holiday.

Location

From the Owner

Combloux is about the most accessible ski resort by car from Calais or Geneva and centrally located with good road access to a dozen nearby resorts. Parking is plentiful and generally free. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty which has escaped the large scale developments that would put it on the beaten track for commercial holidays. It is perfectly placed for the best views of Mont Blanc. In winter there is a huge connected area of skiing to satisfy all levels of ability. In summer, compared with Scotland we found the scenery more spectacular and not plagued with midges. The mountain air, friendly people, walking and just being there is fantastic. Compared with Cornwall we found there was more to do outdoors and the weather was far better. Nice beaches too!

Coast/Beach:

Although far from the coast, the Alps have hot summer days and popular lakes with beaches and water sports. Combloux has an outdoor lido with superb views of Mont Blanc.

Travel:

Combloux is just over one hour by autoroute from Geneva airport. There is a regular connecting coach but car hire is strongly advised to get the best of this area. It is also 550 miles by autoroute from Calais (7¼ hours driving plus stops).

Distances:

Sallanches 12km, Chamonix 32km, Albertville 44km, Geneva 60km, Annecy 70km.
