BYCAR Studio B
There is an entrance cabin that serves as a hall during the day and bedroom at night. This has twin superimposed bunk beds. It has doors to the bathroom with shower over the bath, and to a separate toilet; and a connecting door to the lounge.
The lounge has a permanent double bed in a corner alcove behind tall furniture. Thus it provides privacy as a second bedroom. It also has a door onto a private balcony with scenic view over the tennis court to distant mountains. It is well equipped including digital TV with USB and HDMI slots, DVD, radio and CD and WIFI.
In one corner there is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave oven/grill, and two hotplates and comprehensive selection of utensils.

Combloux is an unspoilt traditional Savoie village, not frequented by the UK tour companies but it was one of the first ski resorts established in France due to its good snow record, magnificent views of Mont Blanc and excellent central position. It is only 8 miles from the autoroute to Calais or Geneva.
We use this site to control bookings so availability is correct and you can "book now". If you do, you give card details but no payment is taken unless we confirm within 24 hours. You would then pay half price, the remainder together with £100 security deposit is due 30 days before your holiday. If you "query now" we are happy to answer questions and hold a firm option so that you can confirm travel before committing. Before you book with us or any other owner be sure to understand access, layout of beds, rules and cancellation terms - they vary.

About The Owner
We bought the apartments in 1991 for our own family holidays and have been letting ever since.
We wanted to holiday with friends but not dictate what they did and when, so we started with two small apartments instead of one large one. We enjoy meeting and skiing with newcomers and helping them to enjoy family holidays.
We created one of the first booking websites and have introduced hundreds of UK families to this beautiful village. Many are regular visitors and several have bought their own apartments.

Why The Owner chose St. Gervais - Megeve area
Combloux is about the most accessible ski resort by car from Calais or Geneva and centrally located with good road access to a dozen nearby resorts. Parking is plentiful and generally free.
This is an area of outstanding natural beauty which has escaped the large scale developments that would put it on the beaten track for commercial holidays. It is perfectly placed for the best views of Mont Blanc. In winter there is a huge connected area of skiing to satisfy all levels of ability.
In summer, compared with Scotland we found the scenery more spectacular and not plagued with midges. The mountain air, friendly people, walking and just being there is fantastic. Compared with Cornwall we found there was more to do outdoors and the weather was far better. Nice beaches too!

If you are at all apprehensive about organising your own skiing holiday, this is the way to do it, particularly if you want to drive. Bob and Tricia provide lots of information and advice on their bycar.com website. This was our fourth visit to one of their apartments and we stayed in Apartment B for the second time. This has a stunning view of Mont Blanc and was very comfortable, clean and warm. There was a surprising amount of storage space and the wifi was much appreciated. 'Studio' does not do it justice. We catered for ourselves all week, but taking some pre-prepared meals made life easier. The slopes and lifts were not at all busy in early March. The local ski pass (Les Portes du Mont Blanc) is fine if you haven't done much skiing, but we were glad we had gone for the full area pass. We stayed Friday to Friday, which meant less traffic on the roads. Many thanks, Bob and Tricia, for your hospitality. I expect we will be back again next year.
Just what we needed
We were two 19 year old guys and the apartment was perfect for what we needed. Less of a studio and more of a proper apartment with seperate rooms. It was about a 5 minute walk from the slopes in snowboard boots, the road was snowed over so we could even snowboard straight back to the door! The cooking facilities are perfectly adequate and the owners are very generous. Our deposit was refunded the day after we left. Would definately book again.

Bob & Tricia offer a warm welcome and will look after you on your stay if you are new to this ski area. We are not new and have been returning to their apartments in Combloux sine our children were nursery age. They are now 11 and 10 years old and ski better than their parents. We have stayed in all the apartments at some time or other and they have everything you need. We usually drive to Combloux as it is an easy drive and take some food with us. Top tip: make something ahead of departing UK for your first night (chilli, stew, bolgnese) and you will be able to unpack, open the wine and relax before hitting the slopes. We highly recommend private lessons with ESF if you have children you worry may not settle. We travel with another family and share the cost of one instructor for two hours with our four children. They have an absolute ball! They cover lots of ground - no standing around and if you leave instructor some money you can ask him/her to take them for quick pit stop. Otherwise put bar of chocolate in pockets for energy boost. And hand warmers in mitts if they tend to feel the cold. All these things help younger children to really enjoy skiing. Combloux is fabulous for families. We have skied worldwide and highly recommend this beautiful place. The pistes are rarely busy, hardly any queues at lifts and pistes are tree lined and wide. Their is more challenging skiing to be had when the children are with the instructor/ski school. Another tip: decide where you would like to lunch and make one of your morning runs a detour to book in person at that restaurant. Owners soon get to know you and make you feel very welcome. Our favourites on the mountain: Chalet des Bachais for great service, fabulous homemade burgers and plat du jour and easy runs for children on way and out of that area. The Porage restaurant is also great if you are in the mood for BBQ food cooked outside and brought to your table. The run down is more challenging but so quiet so not a problem. Once there you truly feel away from it all. Cassina restaurant near the ski school is great for lunch and pares beers as well as evening food. Village is very sweet with a well stocked mini supermarket and plenty of places to eat. Bob has a very informative website and can answers any question at all regarding Combloux.
Take our advice: give it a go.......you'll keep coming back!

Activity and Interests
Although far from the coast, the Alps have hot summer days and popular lakes with beaches and water sports. Combloux has an outdoor lido with superb views of Mont Blanc.
Combloux is just over one hour by autoroute from Geneva airport. There is a regular connecting coach but car hire is strongly advised to get the best of this area. It is also 550 miles by autoroute from Calais (7¼ hours driving plus stops).
Sallanches 12km, Chamonix 32km, Albertville 44km, Geneva 60km, Annecy 70km.
