We have four ground-floor holiday apartments in a quiet site between pine woods alpine meadows and ski lifts near Combloux village. They are cosy in winter, and sensibly laid out with plenty of storage space (for floor plan, see image above). Quality accommodation at low cost for family holidays. The apartments are adjacent, which is perfect for families and friends to holiday together but choose when to eat, sleep, watch a DVD, shower, or chill out. They are equipped with British families in mind. There is 24hr key access and beds are made up ready for arrivals.(Hint: read reviews for each unit)

The apartments have electric radiators and their own immersion heaters (hot water when YOU want it).

Combloux is an unspoilt traditional Savoie village, not frequented by the UK tour companies but it was one of the first ski resorts established in France due to its good snow record, magnificent views of Mont Blanc and excellent central position. It is only 8 miles from the autoroute to Calais or Geneva.

We use this site to control bookings so availability is correct and you can "book now". If you do, you give card details but no payment is taken unless we confirm within 24 hours. You would then pay half price, the remainder together with £100 security deposit is due 30 days before your holiday. If you "query now" we are happy to answer questions and hold a firm option so that you can confirm travel before committing. There is an entrance cabin that serves as a hall during the day and bedroom at night. This has twin superimposed bunk beds. It has doors to: the bathroom with shower over the bath; a separate toilet; the lounge and a separate double bedroom. The bedroom has a double bed and a built-in wardrobe. The lounge contains a sofa that quickly converts to a comfortable double bed. It is very well equipped including TV, DVD, radio/CD and WIFI. In one corner there is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave oven/grill, and two hotplates and comprehensive selection of utensils. French windows open onto a sunny ground floor patio.

About the Owner

We bought the apartments in 1991 for our own family holidays and have been letting ever since.

We wanted to holiday with friends but not dictate what they did and when, so we started with two small apartments instead of one large one. We enjoy meeting and skiing with newcomers and helping them to enjoy family holidays.

We created one of the first booking websites and have introduced hundreds of UK families to this beautiful village. Many are regular visitors and several have bought their own apartments.

Everything we needed from a typical French ski-apartment.

From start to finish, the booking process was easy and building a rapport with the owners gave confidence - we even had the pleasure of meeting them whilst in Combloux.

If you have never booked a French ski-apartment before, do not expect luxury - practicality is what these apartments are about. Bob & Tricia currently have a small selection and there is sure to be a layout to suit. We were a party of two couples and a two year old, and the set up of the apartment was ideal. The kitchen is compact but is well equipped with cooking utensils and various bits and bobs. With four adults, the separate WC & bathroom is another useful bit of the layout when you are all trying to get out in the morning!!

We stayed in Combloux as a base for visiting various stages of Le Tour 2016. I can very much recommend this location for a summer break in this beautiful area. Draw lots for who is to go to the boulangerie/patisserie in the mornings though as it is a bit of a trek on foot!! That said, it is well worth getting to know the various footpaths in the area as some of the views are breathtaking.

Bob & Tricia's apartments are very keenly priced (I presume because end of let cleaning is the responsibility of the user). We found our apartment was spotlessly clean, and left it likewise for the next users. Geneva is an easy drive along the reasonably priced toll roads, and if future editions of Le Tour visit this local area again, I will certainly be contacting Bob & Tricia again!!

Owner's Response: Thank you. A very informative comment and it was great to meet you. Ski apartments are cosy in winter but the living space suits fewer occupants in summer. On the other hand, winter visitors would be surprised to find the scenery is even better in summer. End of let cleaning is not normally included simply because there are too many visitors for the local workforce; and our prices are relatively low simply because we put value before profit.

Hosts amazing. Apartment cleverly designed.

We were so impressed by the hosts who went above and beyond to ensure we made the most of our visit (even took my husband for an advanced ski; booked ski school for kids). The accommodation was perfect for us. Very cleverly designed to fit in 6 guests. It was amazing that the kids could sleigh at the patio door. Thanks so much Bob and Tricia.

By-car by far one of the best

We ( family of 4) have stayed in all but one of Bob and Tricia,s apartments over the lest several years, we found their apartments by chance but once you have sampled the location, Combloux is our most visited resort, it's a little know Gem hidden away from us I think because the French want to keep it all for them selves, the runs are quite, very little queuing and the food and prices are excellent , The apartments are home from home and so close to the lifts its either a 2 minute drive or a 5 min walk to the nearest chair lift, in good snow you can ski back to within 50 meters, do yourself a favour discover Combloux, and either flying or Driving we have done both its so easy to get to and from even with this years problems where half of France got stuck in the snow we made it back home driving, as you are so close to the major roads.

Location

Combloux is about the most accessible ski resort by car from Calais or Geneva and centrally located with good road access to a dozen nearby resorts. Parking is plentiful and generally free. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty which has escaped the large scale developments that would put it on the beaten track for commercial holidays. It is perfectly placed for the best views of Mont Blanc. In winter there is a huge connected area of skiing to satisfy all levels of ability. In summer, compared with Scotland we found the scenery more spectacular and not plagued with midges. The mountain air, friendly people, walking and just being there is fantastic. Compared with Cornwall we found there was more to do outdoors and the weather was far better. Nice beaches too!

Coast/Beach:

Although far from the coast, the Alps have hot summer days and popular lakes with beaches and water sports. Combloux has an outdoor lido with superb views of Mont Blanc.

Travel:

Combloux is just over one hour by autoroute from Geneva airport. There is a regular connecting coach but car hire is strongly advised to get the best of this area. It is also 550 miles by autoroute from Calais (7¼ hours driving plus stops).

Distances:

Sallanches 12km, Chamonix 32km, Albertville 44km, Geneva 60km, Annecy 70km.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Each property has thermostatic electrical room heaters and its own independent hot water supply. The apartment has three separate sleeping areas and the studio has two - these are separated by proper doors (not open mezzanines or sliding partitions). Young children are not specifically provided for but are allowed subject to careful control by parents. You are strongly recommended to see the owners website (beside query form) for floor plans, availability and much more useful information. Outside: Outside there is a private patio or balcony with patio furniture and a communal grassed area with private tennis courts and boules area nearby. There is ample free parking around the site and in addition we have one garage that can be reserved free of charge when available. Ski lockers and rubbish disposal are found in the basement of the chalet.
