About the Owner

Our family is coming from Austria. We came to live in Spain 11 years ago. Our son Eric was educated in the international colleges of Almunecar and Marbella. Michael is journalist and writer, Eva a pianist.

We built the villa 5 years ago. As we are now living between Austria and Spain, we are partly renting out the villa. We all love the mild climate, the nice landscape and fantastic views from this villa and made a lot of friends in the charming village of Salobrena and in nearby Granada ( it can be reached in 1/2 hours drive on the new motorway) which I consider one of the most interesting towns of Spain.

Fantastic Villa with spectacular views

We have just enjoyed our second stay at this fantastic villa which is located just outside Salobrena. It has wonderful views to the mountains from one side, and the coast on the other. The facilities at the villa are the best we have enjoyed in our many years of taking villa holidays. The indoor furnishings are a mix of modern and traditional, all of good quality. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are a good size. The indoor pool was a good temperature without the need to use the oil heating, even though our visit was at the end of October. The outdoor pool was a little cool when first getting in but we used it every day during our stay as we were blessed with very good weather. The pools were both very clean on arrival, and cleaned again during our weeks' stay by a very efficient and friendly pool man. The outdoor kitchen is a wonderful bonus being well equipped with high quality appliances and flame grill. We enjoyed eating home cooked food on the pool island whilst enjoying the views to the coast. The snooker table is another added luxury which was a nice way to relax in the evening.

The villa has a very large garden area therefore you have many choices of sitting area to enjoy the sunbathing. There are plenty of sun loungers, tables, chairs in the garden and on the balcony of the living area.

The owner is extremely efficient and easy to deal with. We had a slight problem with one of the locks to the exterior gate and the owner had a locksmith round to repair it within the day. We advised that it was not urgent, but she wanted to have it made right for us. The housekeeper is also very helpful and accommodates your needs. We had a very late arrival on a Saturday night but the housekeeper was happy to meet us and also picked up some provisions for as as the supermarkets are closed on Sundays. This helped our holiday off to a good start.

I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to friends and family.

Owner's Response: Wendy stayed at our villa for the second time. Unfortunately I could not meet her and her family personally. But the contact with her was very nice from the beginning. I was glad to be able to help them solve a problem with the locker very quickly as I have a good stuff of trustful helpers there. Wendy and her family treated the house with respect and left everything as one would like to get it back. So I can only recommend her as guest! Whenever she likes to come back to my place she is warmly welcome! The family has already booked for 2015 again. So I am really looking forward to meet them this time. Excellent base for a family holiday

Lovely villa with stunning views to the sea, Salobrena and the mountains. Large spacious main living room and master bedroom. More than adequate kitchen and decent size bedrooms on the upper floors. The swimming pools are the biggest asset, with a choice of a swim indoors or outdoors. For summer, just open the doors of the indoor pool first thing and you can enjoy a swim in there most of the day. We found the villa owner, Eva, no trouble to deal with, and her leaflets give some information on things to do in the area which was helpful. Very spacious villa for a family. The pool table in the living room is very handy too. Would recommend to anyone considering a holiday on Costa Tropical. Only minutes from the centre of Salobrena and its beaches, Almunecar only 15 minutes away and Nerja only 30 minutes away. Easy access to Granada and the mountains too. Well maintained property and gardens. We found the villa more than lived up to our expectations. A car is necessary to get around.

Wonderful Villa

This was our second stay at this lovely villa. On this occassion we went with a group of friends to celebrate my husband's birthday.

Communication with the owner Eva prior to our stay was excellent. She is very helpful and eager to accomodate your wishes.

The pictures do not do this wonderful villa justice. The twin fridges in the kitchen come in very useful and the addition of WIFI on this visit was a real bonus as we felt this was the only thing letting it down on our last stay.

We managed to walk into Salobrena on a couple of occassions although we always made sure there was someone left behind to pick us up. That said, the location of the villa means the walk back up would not be too taxing for the more energetic.

We enjoyed it so much that we have booked again for this year.

A magical holiday !

I visited this villa at Easter last year with my family. We were absolutely stunned by the villa and the beautiful views. It is a spectacular place and the villa is spacious and luxurious. The pools are a fantastic feature. The Owner was very helpful and made the booking/arrival and stay a very easy and enjoyable experience. I have recommended this villa to my family and friends. We can't wait to visit again this Spring. Thank-you, Eva!

Our castle in spain

We first rented this spacious villa in Jan and feb. of 2012 and enjoyed it so much that we decided to return in the same two months of 2013 and were planning to go this year but the house had been reserved for Feb. so we opted for another destination. We has chosen the villa for the magnificent view and the huge covered and heated pool. The villa met all our expectations and the owners were most attentive. When we suggested the wifi internet connection and a french tv station our needs were met in a few days. We will return to Salobreña only if This house is available.

we booked for 4 weeks but only stayed 3.

The owner is a nightmare. We needed heating because of time of year and were told in advance there were 3 forms of heating available, central heating, warm air via air conditioning units and an open fire.

We wanted heating for the pool and were told we would only pay for the pool heating. The costs would be determined by the actual amount of oil we used.

The first week was hot and we discovered the underfloor heating was working - the owner insisted it was not (but it was) and eventually we were told how to turn it off.

The pool heating was apparently turned on but was not working - to this day the owner insists it was - even though she had an electrician attend to repair the electrical connections to the control unit. All I know is the temperature of the water stayed the same until it was fixed.

There is no floating thermal cover for the pool so the heating couldn't cope when the weather turned cooler in the second week.

The taps for the only bath only trickled water - nothing was done instead we were told that most people preferred showers.

The remote controls for the air-con were missing - that was to prevent us using them as the owner had received a high electricity bill earlier in the year.

The thermostat on the cooker stopped working but that was apparently our fault and was not fixed during our stay.

The villa has nice gardens and views. It loses the sun in the afternoon. Some of the furniture is tired and some fittings in the downstairs bathroom are rusty. The structure over the covered pool is also rusty. The drains smell but that is a problem at this location - we've stayed on this mountain before and therefore didn't complain because we knew of the difficulties with the drainage system.

The covered locked garage is useful.

If you rent and can put up with some things not being as good as they could be and nothing goes wrong you will be okay but don't expect any help if something goes wrong.

Don't expect to get what you were promised.

I got none of my deposit back.

We left at the end of 3 weeks

The oil boiler didn't just heat the pool but the house and water for washing etc - having been told we would only pay for the pool heating we ended up paying for the house and hot water too. There was no other form of heating available - it had been removed.

We've stayed in Spain several times and through Owners Direct but have never had such a terrible experience as we had when we rented this villa

The area is one of the last unspoiled sites on the Spanish coast. The white village of Salobrena is crowned by an old Moorish castle. From the Monte de los Almendros where the villa is situated you have a spectacular view to the castle and sea, taking advantage of the quietness of the surrounding area. The climate is the most privileged of whole Spain, the coast is called "Costa Tropical" because of its tropical vegetation.

From the Owner

As our property is big enough to have sufficient privacy while being at home and in the garden area. We have two private pools ( one big round one with an built island in the middle where you can relax or enjoy your meals), the other rectangular one is covered and can be heated in wintertime, while used in summer as well as second pool, leaving all doors open. The villa itself has got a huge living room to relax, eat and dine, watch TV or try the pool table. The bedrooms are comfortable. From almost every room you can enjoy the wonderful view. As the villa was made for our proper use it is more comfortable than rental houses normally are. It is fully equipped with marble floors.
