Fantastic place. Very helpful manager whe resonded to a query straight away. Will hopefully return.
Hidden in the hills. A wonderful oasis in a town full of interesting and genuine Spanish people (our second week was in Nerja where we saw the opposite!). My daughters were never out of the pool and and we couldn't stop looking at the mountains. Probably the best place we have ever stayed and we hope to return. Very relaxed and trusting host who sent relevant information in good time and sent the house keys well in advance. This is a rare thing and when you are flying your family abroad then driving though Andalucia it is nice to have that kind of security. Some of the recommended places to see/eat are really worth a look. particularly the restaurant by the train station just out of town. When we were there we hit a festival which was amazing to watch. Brilliant place to find. Many thanks for letting us stay.

Stunning scenery, peaceful, the real Spain
Just returned from Montejaque after a weeks stay. It surpassed my expectations. The scenery is simply stunning, the village peaceful, clean and safe with friendly locals and very cheap tapas. We will most definitely be returning. Martyn provided us with lots of information about the area and accommodation which was very helpful, communication was great . I highly recommend staying in this property

Lovely accommodation at a perfect location.
The cottage is situated on a small site in a lovely village. The cottage is very well equipped- kitchen appliances, washing machine, hairdryer, sun beds, outdoor furniture, barbecue. Communication with Martyn, the owner, is very good. The gardens are very well kept.

Perfect place for a quiet gateaway
We stayed at he Casa de Limon for 5 days after spending some time in a seaside resort in Malaga. Montejque is an hidden gem nicely positioned between mountains and yet very close to some of the best towns and places Andulucia has to offer. Its has plenty of nice paces to eat( open till late) and all the basic amenities The house is perfect for a small family and had everything we needed for the stay. Martyn had already provided tons of suggestions and tips about the accommodation, the local area and as well as things to do nearby. Also he was a text/email away when we needed more directions or options about things to do. Couldn't get any better. We couldn't do a lot of trekking/ hiking as had a toddler with us, but very keen to come back. A perfect place if you want to be amidst the nature but still have a modern accommodation and a friendly host !!

Montejaque is a fabulous small, rural, quite village in what can be called the 'Real Spain'. Far from the maddening crowds.....

About the host

We live near the English Lake District and enjoy cycling, walking, climbing and the great outdoors. We also enjoy travelling and used to do home exchange when our children were young. Carole is retired and Martyn is MD of a house building company

Why they chose this property

We bought the house because we both like 'real' Spain, the 'great outdoors', and to be near places of interest. Easy access from Malaga, Seville, Jerez and Gibraltar airports was also important.
Having Ronda just down the road is also a great benefit for when we want anything for the house and Carole likes all the shoe shops as well! It's a great place to wander around in the evening when the locals come out to parade. I visit once a year with my rock climbing partner and we enjoy climbing at the many quiet crags from 10 minutes to an hour or so away. Our two boys who are in their 20's also sometimes make it across for some climbing. When Carole and I visit we enjoy some great walks in the mountains and valleys. Our favourite time of year is May and June when the wild flowers are amazing.

What makes this property unique

We are only a couple of minutes from our village's main street which has several small shops selling pretty much all you need including good fresh produce. There is one hotel and quite a few bars offering tapas or a meal.
We equipped the house to a good standard for our own enjoyment rather than as a basic holiday home. Air-con is important on evenings at the peak of summer, although we prefer to sleep with the window open if its not too hot. The pool is a real bonus. We like to spend the day out and about and get back for late afternoon for a couple of hours by the pool. Our lemon tree seems to fruit all year round and you are welcome to pick some for your gin and tonic!
If you fancy a trip further afield there are trains to Cordoba and Granada or an easy drive to Jerez or Seville.
We have installed wifi at the house for free use of our guests
