Apartment in Praia da Luz Western Algarve (Ref 5333/AL) - 5 minutes walk to beach, with use of private pools and tennis courts

Praia da Luz is a one hour drive from Faro airport along the empty A22 motorway. It has a beautiful sandy beach, plenty of restaurants, a well stocked supermarket, shops, bars, bank, post office and a doctors surgery. It is ideal for family holidays with children of all ages or for adults just wanting to relax in the sun. The apartment is within the Ocean Club and is on the ground floor, having the advantage of a private secure garden, (ideal for children), while still having a sea view. There are 3 outdoor swimming pools, (one opposite the apartment) and a heated indoor pool, all exclusively available to Ocean Club guests. There are 5 tennis courts, (2 floodlit), available for hourly hire. Water sports are available on the beach and there are numerous attractions for adults and children within easy reach of the village. Praia da Luz is close to several golf courses, including Penina, Palmares, Parque da Floresta and Boavista.

About the Owner

We live in Cambridge and visit the apartment four or five times a year. We first visited Luz in 2003, and immediately fell in love with it and the apartment. We completed the purchase in 2004, carried out a major refurbishment, including the kitchen and bathrooms, and started renting in 2005. Some of our guests have come back year after year.

Guests benefit from the facilities of the Ocean Club, which include four pools; (three outdoor and one heated indoor), tennis courts, 24 hour reception and maid service. Luz is an ideal holiday location for families with children. The beach is a five minute walk from the apartment and during the summer water sports are available. There are many other beaches a short drive away.

The sandy beach of Praia da Luz is 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Other nearby beaches include Burgau - 10 minutes drive, and Salema - 15 minutes drive. The west coast - 30 minutes drive, has some of the most underdeveloped uncrowded sandy beachs, and is a favorite area for windsurfing.


Praia da Luz is less than an hours drive from Faro airport following the completion of the A22 Algarve motorway. A number of low cost airlines fly to Faro from most UK airports. Ideally you should hire a car, although there is a train service from Faro to Lagos, and it is then a 10 minute taxi ride from Lagos to Praia da Luz.


The capital city of Lisbon is 300 kilometers from Luz and the drive takes 3 hours on the A2 motorway; (there is a toll charge).

Changeover Day:
Bookings run Saturday to Saturday in July and August. More flexible dates are available at other times.

Notes on prices:
Prices shown are UK pounds per week and include bed linen and towels, maid service and use of the Ocean Club's pools for up to four guests. A supplement of £40 per week is payable for each additional guest.

A cot can be provided on request for £30 per week and a high chair for £15 per week.
