This is our family's holiday home that we have owned for over 12 years. When we purchased the villa we thoughtfully re-designed the garden so that it enjoys complete privacy in and around the south-facing swimming pool, on the sun-bathing terraces and the surrounding garden, that also has glimpses of the sea. The whole garden and pool area are surrounded by 6 foot high stone walls that offer shelter from the prevailing winds and if desired, enables you to gain an all-over tan away from prying eyes! The whole property has been the subject of ongoing improvements throughout our ownership and our regular clients and friends always enjoy spotting the differences each time they stay there!

It is very well looked after by our experienced English managers who help ensure that everyone has a thoroughly enjoyable and trouble-free holiday. They leave a small welcome selection of tea, coffee and milk and they call in a day or so later to ensure that all is well and to provide help and guidance with resort amenities, etc.

Our villa stands in a quiet and mature area at the end of a small cul-de-sac in a large well-established and level 'Lanzarote style' garden surrounded by 6' high walls and entrance driveway gate. This exclusive location is on the lower slopes of Montana Roja, the well known 'Red Mountain' volcano landmark that offers the energetic the opportunity to walk or run to the top before breakfast when the far-reaching views over to Fuerteventura, the Papagayo beaches and surrounding area are at their clearest.

Our property was one of the first to be built in this location, about a mile or so to the west of Playa Blanca village and therefore offers far more maturity than newer developments. It is only about a five minute drive from the nearest sandy beach at Playa Flamingo and about a 15 minute drive to the wonderful isolated sandy beaches at Papagayo that can be seen in the distance from the villa garden.

Playa Blanca village offers everything you need for an enjoyable holiday with good quality supermarkets and shops, banks and of course waterfront restaurants and bars. Within a five minute walk there is a small supermarket for everyday needs, a taxi rank and a local bus service runs every 30 minutes to the village and beyond.

We have gone the extra mile to provide our clients and ourselves with a home from home experience in the sunshine. There is an iron, ironing board and clothes airer together with a rotary clothes line. Each bedroom has a hairdryer, ceiling fan and mosquito screens at the windows and shutters and a fitted wardrobe. The kitchen has all appliances and there is a modern washing machine in the utility cupboard. The dining room and lounge each comfortably seat up to 6 people and there is a 48" TV in the lounge.

The large freeform shaped solar-heated swimming pool is 8 metres long x 3-4 metres wide with steps into the shallow end that is about 1.1m deep whilst the deep end is about 1.7-1.8 m deep. It was designed to a Cesar Manrique inspired shape seen at Jameos del Aqua in the north of the island - well worth visiting to enjoy the fascinating caves too. The pool can be electrically heated at extra cost during any month of the year but we particularly recommend it from October - April to maintain a daytime water temperature of 27 - 30c, providing it is covered by the solar blanket cover at night. The covered terrace has comfortable outside seating & dining area with a cooling fan over. Exclusive 'no cost' extras include - broadband internet access & Wi-fi, 48" TV with UK and other channels, swimming pool towels provided for the duration of your stay, security safe and monitored alarm system for client's use and peace of mind. We have a 'No smoking' policy.

Please also note that Playa Blanca is one of the quietest resorts on the island and lacks the nightlife that places such as Puerto del Carmen have to offer. Our villa is therefore best suited for those couples and families who want to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful and private holiday.

Contrary to what Owners Direct state on this website we do not accept credit card payments. All bookings are handled by us direct with our clients as we have done for 12 years. All payments are securely made by bank transfer. Please read all our Client Reviews for assurance and peace of mind.

When booking, a deposit of one-third of the total cost is due at that time and the balance is due 8 weeks prior to your holiday.

Mr & Mrs F - visit twice a year. 'We unashamedly enjoy the total privacy this villa offers. The owners have created a fabulous place to chill out by the pool or in the garden, ideal to get over the winter blues and boost our all-over tan before the winter sets in again!'

Mrs & Mrs A and friends visited in February - 'We left home in snow and arrived at the villa to 25 degrees. What a fabulous place to unwind or if you fancy an unusual way to set you up for the day, walk up the nearby 'Red Mountain' volcano! Views to die for and you can plan your excursions from up there. Loads of places to eat out locally or to discover inland. Bliss. Only 12 months before returning'

Mr & Mrs M - 'a family holiday in August can be stressful but whatever the journey is like, 5 minutes at the villa and you are a world apart. In fact we hardly moved for the whole week. The pool and private garden are absolutely fabulous and a credit to the owners and their managers as it is all so well maintained'.

Fantastic- all you can need Villa!

A very well maintained and equipped Villa. A home from home. From the moment we booked, the correspondence with Peter the owner was fantastic. The information provided was easy to understand and use whilst on holiday. Paul (& Cerys) was on hand, maintained the pool and looked after the Villa whilst we stayed there. Paul was even out there undertaking pool duties in torrential rain! The weather did improve but it didn't stop our family and young kids making the most of the heated pool. The Villa is located away from the hussle of town and it is easily reached via a taxi rank just down the road. Aqualava is so easy to get to and a must if you have small children- a good day out. We made use of the Canarian BBQ and enjoyed the views so no need to go out every evening to restaurants although we did enjoy a lot of restaurants in the Marina area. The kitchen is very well equipped and we didn't need for anything. Shop just over the road for all essentials as well as the bigger ones in town. We will all be recommending this Villa to friends and other family :-)

Perfect in everyway

We have visited many holiday destinations ranging from weekends away in budget hotels to luxury holidays in Sandals in Bahamas Antigua and Grenada and cruises. With all these experiences in mind, our holiday in Lanzarote in this villa outshines and overshadows all the rest. This is no exaggeration. The villa is equipped to an exceptionally high standard. It is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, two luxury bathrooms and kitchen. Every pot and pan,glass and plate that you could possibly need.

The we come to the oh so private pool!! Fabulous warm and spotless. This villa is the definition of spaciousness. 4 sets of tables and chairs to use. 8 sun beds. Not overlooked at all. Oh so private. Fabulous!!

Our experience was also enhanced with the ease of driving and the local area was beautiful. You do need a car in our opinion. You cannot get lost and locals are nice without that annoying pestering for your business every time you walk past a restaurant.

Unfortunately there was a down side to all this.......


Easy jet is our recommend. Brilliant.

We will be back for sure in a very safe and secure environment.

Home from home

As the title suggests after our Sixth visit to Las Claveles we would thoroughly reccomend a visit to the superbly set out and run family villa.

Should it be for a full on family holiday or a couple looking a lit bit of R&R you will not be disapointed in your time spent at this lovely recently refurbished superbly layed out family villa set in the most beautiful of surroundings.

The villa comes complete with all modern facilities including w-fi,satellite tv and all mod cons to make your stay a most welcome one.

The villa is supported by a management team whose moto seems to be nothing is too much trouble ensuring your stay is to the highest standard.

If you find the need to venture further the harbour area of Playa Blanca is a Twenty minute stroll down the road to the beautiful central area and Marina where you will find enough first class restaurants and eateries to enable you over a two week stay to try a different venue each night.

A selection of shops for the fashionistas amongst us along with a beautiful laid out Marina area provide ideal shopping trips with a local market every Wednesday and Saturday.

Hire a car and the islands many tourist sites allow you to discover what really makes Lanzarote an island well worth a visit.

Returning to the villa for your daily swim in the villas superbly layed out pool helps you unwind and relax to make your visit to Las Claveles a holiday to remember and asking yourself not should we return but when !

Our Holiday

We arrived back from our holiday at Casa de Claveles and booked it again for 2017 the next day! I don't think I can give it a better recommendation than that. We have a disabled daughter who uses a wheelchair and everything was accessible for her. The villa was everything we had hoped for, very well equipped and in a lovely setting. It was spotless and very well maintained. We enjoyed the fact that it is very private and this makes it a tranquil place to relax and unwind. The pool is great and the many seating areas give a choice of where to catch the sun whatever time of day. We enjoyed walking down to the beach and the Marina where there are loads of shops, bars and restaurants. Peter, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with at all tmes and very helpful. His property manager Paul was also very welcoming and gave us some good tip's and advice. All in all it was a fantastic holiday and we can't wait to return.

Luxury Villa in private residential area

This was our 6th visit to this wonderful villa in Playa Blanca and we continue to return each year as we are so pleased with everything it has to offer. The description regarding the facilities, pool and villa are accurate and we would highly recommend it to visitors. It is spotlessly clean and the garden is well maintained. It is private and in a quiet area where you will not be disturbed. There are taxis at the end of the road into Playa Blanca for about 4 - 5 euros if you don't want to hire a car. There is also an Aquapark nearby if you have children. There are a variety of restaurants in the town and our two favourites are Asiatico a Japanese/Chinese restaurant and Tipico Canaria and the Timanfaya Volcan which does great steaks and chicken dishes. You will be welcomed into any of the nearby hotels in the evenings to watch their entertainment and have a drink. We recommend the Natura Palace and Timanfaya Palace ( both adult only) or the Rubicon Palace if you have children. We look forward to returning to Casa Claveles soon.

From the Owner

Our villa was purchased for family occupation together with friends and relatives to enjoy. Our family now includes six grand-children who live over a wide area of the UK and they also enjoy visiting Lanzarote for their holidays, in the same way that our children did when they first stayed in Playa Blanca whilst studying for their GCSE exams in the mid-1980's. We all much prefer the climate here to mainland Europe because it is a much drier heat with significantly less humidity, particularly in the height of the summer - not to mention far more guaranteed sunshine and less rainfall! We previously owned a smaller property overlooking the beach at nearby Playa Flamingo but when we had the opportunity to buy our villa we lost no time in deciding to do so because it was in an ideal private and peaceful location set just back from the seafront, but close enough to be on the beach within five minutes. Then followed nine months of extensive refurbishment works, building the swimming pool and creating the garden, all as you see it today. Since then hardly a year goes by without out further improvements taking place so returning visitors look forward to playing 'spot the difference!'

Lanzarote's daylight hours:

It is a little known fact that Lanzarote enjoys at least two hours of additional daylight during the much needed autumn and winter months compared to the UK. So, you can sit on our terrace or swim in the pool in December & January at 6pm and the sun has yet to set, whereas back in the UK it is dark by 3.30pm and it is 20c degrees warmer in Lanzarote. Why stay at home?!

Coast & Beaches:

There are excellent sandy beaches about a 5-10 minute drive together with several adjacent restaurants and supermarkets. The paved coastal promenade extends for miles in each direction either side of the village of Playa Blanca. The famous and more remotely situated beaches at Papagayo are a 15 minute drive and are popular with naturists. The fashionable Rubicon Marina is about ten minutes drive and has a variety of waterside restaurants and bars overlooking the boats. A local bus service runs to the beaches and village and stops a few minutes walk from the villa.

Travel & Car HIre

Arrecife airport is a 30 minutes drive on excellent roads. There are a number of car-hire operators with their offices adjacent to the Arrivals Hall and their rates are low compared to the mainland. Although hiring a car is strongly recommended, there are taxis from the airport and there is a taxi-rank only 3 minutes walk from our villa, along with a local bus service into Playa Blanca and the surrounding area.


Playa Blanca is a picturesque village about a 5 minute drive and has a delightful seafront promenade. It has become a vibrant small town with a modern shopping area, variety of restaurants, bars and supermarkets, banks, doctors, pharmacists, etc, but it has retained it's reputation as a quieter resort, lacking wild night life! The excellent roads mean that even the most distant places of interest are no more than an hours drive. A fast ferry to Fuerteventura goes from Playa Blanca harbour.

The island has a variety of fascinating features where man & nature have created some spectacular tourist attractions and we supply a comprehensive list of suggested places to visit and eat out. Shopping is no chore as there is a local shop within 3 minutes walk and a selection of excellent supermarkets within a 5-10 minute drive. Our weekly rental tariff is based upon 2 adults sharing. Add £14 per person per night up to 6 people. If a child has a normal made-up bed they are charged at the adult rate. An infant in a cot is not charged for but we can supply a cot upon request, at a cost of £25 per week, A high chair can be supplied free of charge.

Bookings must be for a minimum of 7 nights, unless otherwise agreed on a one-off booking, but split weeks with a minimum of 10 nights will be considered depending upon the season and overall availability, but may be subject to a surcharge. Confirmed bookings will not be accepted subject to arranging flights. Our rates are subject to change during the year but are those applicable at the time of booking.


When the dates and terms of your booking have been agreed and the other requested information received, I will email the booking form/ invoice to you for completion and return within three days. A deposit of one-third of the total rental, including any extras, is due for payment at the time of booking. The remaining two-thirds balance is due within 8 weeks prior to the commencement of your booking, together with payment of a £300 refundable damage deposit. For bookings within 8 weeks of departure, the full rental and any extras, and damage deposit are all due for payment at that time. All payments are to be made by BACS bank transfer direct to the owner.


Thursday is our normal commencement day but other days can be considered depending upon availability and season. Arrival time is after 2.00pm; departure by 10.00am.


The swimming pool is solar heated all year round but it can be electrically heated during the winter months at an extra cost of £70 per week to provide a comfortable swimming temperature of 27-30c degrees, subject to weather conditions. The electric pool heating is available at other times of the year for those clients who require an extra warm pool

From the Owner

Our villa is situated on one of the first developments to be built in Playa Blanca about 25 years ago and therefore stands in a much larger garden plot than you will find with more modern properties. I designed our free-form 'Cesar Manrique inspired' swimming pool and all the sun terraces to enjoy complete privacy and to be sheltered from the prevailing winds that is big benefit as so many other locations suffer from being windswept. The villa works as well for a couple staying there as it does for a family and people regard it as a home from home. It enjoys partial wide-angle sea views from east to west and the sun shines on the terraces and pool from early morning until sundown. It is a very relaxing place to stay and whilst many people have intentions of rushing around sight-seeing, many end up laying by the pool every day! However, whilst that is a lovely way of spending a holiday, the island has so many stunning and interesting places to visit so I always recommend spending at least a couple of days doing so, particularly as the furthest point in the north of the island is only about one hours drive.

It is solar-heated all year round, but most clients elect to pay an extra £70 per week towards the cost of additional electric heating between October and April to help maintain the daytime water temperature at c. 27-30 degrees depending upon weather conditions. This extra pool heating has to be booked at the time of reservation. The south-facing sun terraces have ample sun beds, umbrellas, comfortable undercover outdoor seating area, dining table and chairs with cooling ceiling fan over. There is a built-in barbeque. Secure gated driveway with parking space for 3-4 cars. Washing machine. Iron, ironing board, clothes airer. The villa and pool are prepared for your arrival by our experienced English managers. All linen, together with domestic towels are provided. One pool /beach towel is provided per person per week at no extra cost
