Stone Built Farmhouse Exclusive use, Private Heated Pool in Rural Surroundings

Updated: 04-Oct-2016
Farmhouse in Riberac- Private Heated Pool set in 2 Acres on a Quiet Hillside Views Across the Dronne Valley

Le Puits (The Well) is a traditional spacious 200 year old stone built farmhouse set in 2 acres of its own land on a quiet hillside. Private 8x4m heated swimming pool, patio and BBQ. Exclusive use of property and pool. Exposed beams, stone walls and 2 built-in wood burning stoves give plenty of character. Fully equipped and comfortably furnished. UK satellite TV. Excellently located for the many attractions of the region. Le Puits is situated by a very quiet local road up a hill and remote from the bustling market town of Riberac. The view from Le Puits is across the Dronne Valley to the picturesque village of Villetoureux. Riberac town is only 3 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk for those essentials or simply to grab a coffee and watch the world go by. Plenty of private parking.

About the Owner

We live in Kent, England. Our two children are grown and living and working in London. We both work full-time in the financial sector. We visit Le Puits as often as possible. When we visit we would typically also have friends come along too, whether it's to do maintenance or enjoy a relaxing carefree break.

When you book your week or two, Le Puits is your little bit of France, exclusively all to yourselves - enjoy!

Great house, fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a brilliant 2 weeks at Le Puits. The house is lovely and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Perfect location just a 20 minute walk into the bustling town of Riberac. Lots to do here and some lovely restaurants. Would recommend Le Citronier and Le Chabrot. Great food and service at both. Tennis courts available too (pay for courts at Le Colonnes cafe), kayaking on the river too - great fun! Loads to visit within an hour's drive. Big supermarket less than 5 mins away. Also spent loads of time relaxing by the pool, which was beautiful and perfect for our 2 boys to play in. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond to our numerous questions before we arrived. Thank you for a brilliant holiday!

Just Brilliant - loved it

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for our stay at Le Puits. My family and I had a really relaxing fun time. The house is charming and just as I had hoped for – a real French property, loved the wooden beams and stone walls. We all adored your pool – what a gem, the four of us splashed in it for hours and we couldn’t get the kids out. Riberac is great with great places to eat out and plenty of boulangeries and shops, and there are some really old towns nearby steeped in history. Oradour-sur-Glane was an eye opener and what a moving memorial, it is a bit of a drive but so well worth it. We also loved sitting out and eating in the warm evenings and I would mention that your veranda is great, with lovely views. We will be back!

Lovely, relaxing place to spend on your vacation!

Date of visit: 12th – 25th July 2016

I stayed at Le Puits with my girlfriend and her family and can honestly say we had a truly relaxing and enjoyable holiday, mostly spent floating around on the wonderful private pool and enjoying BBQs of an evening. We enjoyed several strolls into the town of Riberac to take advantage of the many restaurants - we enjoyed a nice lunch al fresco at Cafe des Colonnes and Le Citronier, but would also recommend visiting the town of Aubeterre for lunch at Sucre et Sel - try their amazing Galettes (savoury pancakes), The house and gardens were very clean and obviously well cared for, with everything we needed provided for. The owners have succeeded in making it feel like a home rather than a barren holiday let. Recommend a day trip to St Emilion, Bergerac and the Chateau de Monbazillac, although there are many lovely nearby towns and villages to visit too. We all found Le Puits lived up to and surpassed our expectations and all hope to return again – thank you very much!!

great house, great pool, great location!

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned after 2 great weeks staying at le puits.

Denise's instructions were perfect and we found the house after only 2 circuits around the one way system in Riberac! A bottle of wine and a euro for our supermarket trolley was on the kitchen table on arrival...nice touch!

The house was clean and well equipped both inside and out. The pool, although small, was in a beautiful location overlooking the valley and completely private. It should be noted that the bedrooms are partially divided only by curtains so if you are not family, there could be privacy issues.

Riberac is a pretty small town with lots of good restaurants and cafes, several supermarkets and a great Friday market. The boulangerie off the square had the best baguettes and croissants we have ever had in France!

Places worth visiting included Brantome, Aubeterre sur Dronne and the old town in Perigeux. We also visited Chateau Feely near Bergerac for a vineyard tour, wine tasting and cheese lunch ...one of our highlights and worth the one hour drive.

lovely place, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

The property is on the edge of a small valley, fairly secluded and with a lovely view, all set in a nice garden. The house is extremely well-equipped and the pool with plenty of loungers etc. maintains a good temperature (though hardly needed given the very hot weather during our stay!) Riberac is close (5 mins by car, 15 mins on foot) and the very big Friday market is a must. A really enjoyable week.

A wonderful place to holiday

  • 4 of 5

Our family had the most wonderful time at Les Puits. This cottage looks small from the outside but don't be deceived as it is really spacious on the inside. The owners have made this a real home from home and everything has been thought of . The location is stunning and so peaceful. We had some lovely, lazy days by the pool which was a real treat. It is totally private and has glorious views. It is a god send when you return from your days out . We had fantastic weather so it really was appreciated.

The surrounding area is gorgeous and we enjoyed exploring the lovely villages and nearby towns. There are so many places to visit. This house and area has everything - we loved it!

From the Owner

We absolutely love Le Puits. Everything about it is just right, we wouldn't change anything. The location is perfect, its a short walk (15 mins) to the centre of a busy market town with every amenity you could want, but, at the same time, back at Le Puits it's as if the town does not exist, just Le Puits with an ambience all of its own.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

At Arcachon on the coast, about 2 hours away, is the Dune du Pyla, the highest sand dune in Europe - truly amazing! The beach at Royan is approximately 80 minutes drive. Aubeterre (about 20 minutes drive) Lovely man made beach on river Dronne. La Jemaye (14km). The Grand Etang, large lake with sandy beach with pedalos, canoes, horse riding, snack bars, etc. Life guards on duty in high season.
