Our cottage is located near to Iznajar just 1 hour's drive from Malaga or Granada airports. For a relaxing, simple holiday in uncomplicated surroundings, you can experience the best of living in rural Spain, surrounded by olive groves and stunning views. Our cottage is a comfortable, well equipped house with a private terrace and pool. It is only a 2 minute walk from the nearest village and bar but its situation ensures that you feel part of rural life where the sun governs the day, from cock's crow to siesta and into the evening. You can sit and watch the sun set from the private terrace whilst enjoying a glass of wine or the local favourite, chilled fino sherry.

Rustic cottage in peaceful location
About the Owner
We are a retired couple who moved to inland Andalucia for the clean air, drier atmosphere and of course, the sunshine!
We have fallen in love with the olive covered hills and the genuinely friendly local people. We spend some of the summer weeks in England and whilst we are away, nearby friends act as our managers and take care of our guests.
Our rescued Shitzu dog travels back and forth with us and is happy to have different people around the place when we are here.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Sept 2012. We had a perfect holiday at La Casita - it really was a home away from home, but with glorious sunshine and a swimming pool! La Casita is comfortable and very well equipped - we were able to cook some lovely meals with the local produce, and the fantastic welcome pack meant we had all of life's little essentials and a few luxuries too. We spent a lot of time in the pool - our oldest son managed to swim by himself for the first time with a rubber ring, and we were able to enjoy the water when the boys were napping in the afternoon or when they went to bed. We had some lovely trips out to find bigger playgrounds (there is a small one 5 minutes walk from La Casita) and eat churros (fantastic pastries). We have returned to the UK relaxed and eager to return. Thank you. Ruth, Jamie, Oscar (3.5) and Tommy (nearly 1), London.

Rustic cottage in peaceful location
We have just returned from a lovely 6 day stay at La Casita. It was a perfect location for exploring the historical cities of Granada and Córdoba as well as a taste of life in the Andalusican countryside. The house is neat and clean, and accommodated our family of four quite comfortably. The pool was perfect, a nice size, and very private. This is the best thing about La Casita, it's so private and secluded, you don't see anyone at all, so it's very peaceful, aside from cockrels crowing but that's all part of the charm. The house had a well equipped kitchen, and we were left a welcome pack with Keri's delicious apple and fig jam and fresh locally grown olives, which we enjoyed for breakfast. I was a bit worried how we would fare without air conditioning in 40 degree heat but the house itself stays very cool and during the warm nights the ceiling fans were more than sufficient. Keri was also very helpful, responding to emails very promptly in the booking stage and the run up to our stay. I would happily recommend la casita to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and peaceful break.
Lovely lazy holiday
Just returned from a wonderful relaxing 12 days at Keri and Gordon's lovely rural villa. Set on the edge of a small village it's perfect for chilling out in the Spanish countryside.
There was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us when we arrived with all the essentials (wine, beer etc. and a particularly fine fig and apple jam) which means you don't have to rush out to stock up as soon as you arrive and can unwind after travelling. The villa is clean and comfortable with everything you might need and there is a lovely pool and terrace .
Iznajar with it's large lake and bars is only about 10 minutes away and and there are plenty of places within easy travelling distance that are well worth a visit if you're that way inclined. We were particularly lazy and spent most of our afternoons dozing by the pool after a more than ample Spanish lunch. We did manage to drag ourselves away for a few trips out to the Alhambra in Granada and El Torcal park which are both highly recommended and the donkey sanctuary in Fuente de Prieda which was lovely (as long as you like donkeys).
We had a wonderful time at the villa and Keri and Gordon were very welcoming and helpful and good company , and Keri's regular supply of fresh figs was most appreciated. Although maybe the words "regular" and "figs" should never be used in the same sentence.
Charming Casita in the real Spain
My family and I have just returned from a fantastic break in Keri and Vincent's gorgeous farmhouse conversion in the olive groves of Spain near Iznajar. If you want a modern villa with plasterboard walls and underground car park then don't come here. What you have here is a rustic farmhouse that has been converted to provide basic but comfortable accommodation in a truly rural setting. You will be woken to the sound of cockerels rather than car horns. This is an amazing place to just unwind. There is a superb pool (equipped with lilos of you just want to float about all day) plenty of sun loungers and outdoor tables and chairs (and parasols) a barbecue and my favourite, a poolside fridge! There are two fabulous terraces, one outside the main entrance to the casita and the other by the pool. The second bathroom is by the pool too and is in fact a wet room and I found the best for a shower. The other bathroom is in the house. There is a well equipped kitchen (and Keri's very generous welcome pack was found here when we arrived) The two bedrooms (1 double and one twin) are both upstairs. There is also a small lounge area downstairs with a sofa and chair and a good selection of books, info about the local area and a tv/dvd . Most of the time we were outside being summer but in the cooler months this would be very welcome. So what is it like here? Well, If you want the noise, activities and liveliness that you find at the coastal resorts then this will not suit you. Of course you can get to the coast if you want. There is a good network of motorways and you can be eating an English breakfast in Fuengirola an about an hour and a quarter. But if you're here you would be better off driving to a nearby village and joining the locals for coffee and an early tapas. You will need a car. I suppose you could get a taxi here and just chill for a week at the Casita but then you'd miss visiting places like Lake Iznajar where after a long lunch we spent an afternoon kayaking in the gorgeous azure lake, and you would be unable to visit some of the lovely towns nearby. Don't be afraid to rent a car ib Spain. Its cheap and easy, and the Spanish roads are good. There is so much to see and it's really the only way. If you want to see a bit of real Spain then staying here is a great way to do it. Word of warning ..it gets very hot here in summer. If you don't like it too hto come earlier or later but we would highly recommend staying here. A clean comfortable home in the sun.
Best Holiday we've had
Pretty much all of our previous holidays abroad have been beach holidays but this holiday was, thankfully, completely different. And I don't think we'll be going back to the beach again for a long time.
The two stand-out things were the pool and the places to visit.
The pool is a good size, completely private, with a pool house and loungers. Snoozing by the pool on the loungers was bliss. The pool house had a fridge so a cold drink was always to hand. And a few leisurely lengths of the pool helped beat the heat and burnt off a few calories. There were also a table and chairs and a shower there too.
A few steps past the lavender and rosemary, lemon and olives takes you up to the house. Outside is a large patio with a barbecue and table and chairs and great views to the surrounding hills. We barbecued every night. The meat and fish at the supermarkets were superb and so much cheaper than the UK. Inside was nice and cosy but the weather was so good we generally only went inside to go to bed.
Around and about there is lots to see. Antequera has lots of history, Priego rates as a highlight of Andulacia in the Rough Guide, as does Cordoba's Mezquita. The olive route is good to drive. El Torcal is worth a look for its weird rock formations. Almedinilla has a Roman villa. And the nearby town of Iznajar is extremely pretty.
We mainly ate out during the day. All the food was very good and much cheaper than beach front prices plus the staff were extremely friendly.
Not the place for partying and nightclubs but perfect if you like sunbathing punctuated by plenty of places to see and great food.
From the Owner
“We wanted to buy a property inland, perfect for relaxation but not too isolated, to be near water but not on the coast, no more than 1 hour away from airports and the coast - quite a tall order! However, we found all that with our house near Lake Iznajar. To create our 2 bedroomed Casita we converted outbuildings, using local workmen, building and furnishing it in the Andaluz style. Our guests can relax by the pool or on one of the terraces, walk by the lake or in the hills, visit and learn about the wonderful culture and history of Spain, eat in any number of local restaurants - and still be only an hour from the airport and coastal attractions.”
