With marble floors throughout, three thoughtfully designed bedrooms, a dressing room, two contemporary bathrooms, fully equipped modern kitchen, the house is spacious and light. Terrace space is abundant, with areas for sun worshippers and shade lovers alike.

About Lorraine Fielding


We live near Dolgellau in Wales. We moved here from Kent in 1989 for business reasons - we own an hotel, Penmaenuchaf Hall, recently awarded AA Hotel of the Year, Wales, 2009/10.

We have two daughters and four young grandchildren.

We enjoy travelling, good food and wines, interior design, fishing, walking, mountain biking and road biking. We enter the Cape Argus Pic 'n Pay cycle tour in Cape Town, South Africa, each year, a 79 mile ride which we complete in 3.5 and 4 hours respectively. We have also done the London to Brighton bike race. We raise money for the Air Ambulance Wales and also a childrens charity is South Africa.

We consider ourselves young at heart and fun loving!

We adore this region in Spain.

We have been visiting La Herradura for the past 25 years, as other members of our family have owned property and it seemed a natural progression that we should buy a home there too.

The weather is a big plus point with temperatures staying warm enough for us to enjoy breakfast on the terrace even in January.

La Herradura is unique. It has retained a true local Spanish ambience. We like the fact that there are locals who don't speak English (although there is always help at hand if necessary). The municipal market always has wonderful fresh fruit, fish and meat and the local bakery produce an abundance of breads and pastries.

It's a great place to chill or be active, there's always activities on offer or sunloungers to bask in the sun!

What makes this house unique

By choosing to stay at our home in the sun you will be guaranteed a quality destination.

It is easy to access from Malaga airport, the journey taking just under an hour.

The area is stunningly beautiful with mountains falling in to the sea! The house is adjacent a natural park where there are wonderful walks with spectacular coastal views and inquisitive mountain deer.

We love the light and airiness the house offers, it is certainly more spacious than the average house in the area and with cool marble floors throughout, it's a perfect retreat after a day in the sun.

The terrace and garden areas are more than ample, there is always somewhere to hide quietly with a good book or socialize around table and chairs with a glass of wine.

Notes on accommodation: Sorry, no pets, children under six years or smoking in the house. The house is centrally heated for the cooler months (there will be an additional meter reading charge between the months of November and March for electricity and gas). Wi-fi connection is available subject to availability. Outside: There are three garden/terrace/balcony areas. The main terrace is huge with views out to the sea and down to the swimming pool. It houses a large table and six reclining chairs, two sun loungers, a drinks table and a built in BBQ. The upper garden and terrace area has views across La Herradura bay and houses a table with two chairs. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have access to a large balcony with views across the sea and La Herradura bay and also has a table and two chairs. Utility Room: Utility room includes; washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes line and pegs, ironing board and iron, clothes airer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Fresh bed linen and towels are included on arrival. Maid service can be organised if required. Other: The dressing room has ample hanging space and shelving for storage.

Great Location, Superb home for a Relaxing Holiday

We had a wonderful time in La Herradura. The house is located on the hills surrounding the Village and is less than five minutes drive away from the beach and shops. The views from the terraces are spectacular, with plenty of sun lounging space or shade if needed.

The house is tastefully furnished to a high standard, very comfortable, clean, with a well equipped kitchen. The three bedrooms are spacious with an En-Suite off the master bedroom.

There is a very short walk to the communal swimming pool, which was quiet at all times, is a good size, and again has fantastic views across the Bay.

The Village of La Herradura has a typical Spanish atmosphere with a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. The picturesque 'Marina Del Este' is just a short drive away and is well worth a visit.

The Owners provided great customer service, and all in all, we had a very enjoyable holiday.

We will be back again for sure. Many thanks.

Great house with fantastic views!

We stayed in Carmenes del Mar for 2 weeks in July-Aug and it was just fantastic! The house is lovely, spotlessly clean with several terraces where you can sit and relax, overlooking both the bay and mountain. It has a modern kitchen with absolutely everything needed and a great bbq. We bbq'd fresh seafood from the local market and had the most amazing meals at the house, both because it's easier staying home with kids but also since we just didn't want to leave the house! The swimming pool is just a couple of steps away and was very nice and clean. Even after 2 weeks we didn't want to leave and we would love to stay again!

Lovely House with Fabulous Views

We stayed for a week in July and a week just wasn't enough! The house is beautiful inside and out. There are various terrace areas to sit and chill, either in the sun or in the shade. The house is located in a quiet setting. Sitting on the main terrace overlooking La Herradura bay and out towards the sea was so relaxing. All of our needs were catered for in the house and it was easy to sit back and let the world go by. However, La Herradura and the surrounding areas have much to offer so we ventured out and explored this lovely part of Spain.

Would definitely return, hopefully next year.

Booking Notes:
To book simply contact the owner to check availability and proceed with booking. To confirm your reservation a non refundable deposit of 25% of the rental amount, plus a £150 or £300 (depending on length of stay) refundable security damage deposit is required. Payment of the balance will be due twenty one days prior to arrival. Payment can be made by any major credit card, apart from American Express, or by bank transfer. All bookings will be confirmed in writing.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is flexible. Arrival time is from 4.00pm and departure time is 10.00am.

Notes on prices:
All prices include linen, water, gas and electricity (a heating surcharge applies during the months of November to December and January to March). A cleaning charge of £50.00 is also applicable. For stays of two weeks or longer an optional bed linen service is available at the rate of £30.00. Beach towels are not included.
