A beautiful location and very comfortable gite.

  • 4 of 5

We had a fantastic fortnight holiday here, in this peaceful location. The gite is dog friendly and our dogs certainly enjoyed their stay as much as we did. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. There is plenty to do in the area, including the most incredible castles built on high rocky outcrops, medieval villages and towns, the Canal du midi, to name but a few. We will certainly be returning to explore some more of the area.

Really nice family holiday destination

  • 5 of 5

A last minute booking, we stayed in Moulin Haut, a lovely old converted mill. It has huge thick walls so despite the heatwave conditions outside stayed lovely and cool. The house is great, has everything you need, was clean on arrival, and the gardens and pool are exceptional. The kids played with the other children on site and we socialised in the evenings with the other guests. The owner was very helpful, and we would recommend this holiday to anybody. There is a nice bar in the village and a brilliant restaurant 5 minutes away, as well as the famous pizzas from Montolieu. Thanks for a great holiday

Rural tranquility

  • 5 of 5

The property is a lovely old house, modernised but still characterful, with all facilities one could hope for an easy and uncompromised holiday - good kitchen utensils, dish washer, great water pressure in the bathroom, TV, videos, and an enormous selection of books.

The large pool is in superb condition and is set within the magnificent grounds of the "Domaine".

The owner, Steve is a likeable and helpful chap who was keen to ensure that we had everything we needed for a happy stay.

A great value holiday, sadly, too short.

Wonderful honeymoon with the family!

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful family honeymoon holiday in a perfect location in France.

The property was exactly as we were hoping for in a secluded valley within a short drive to Carcassonne as well as all essentials in the local villages.

The gites were comfortable, clean and well maintained with we all enjoyed a variety of sporting facilities including ping-pong, snooker and badminton. The area around the pool was a marvellous sun-trap and the pool was enjoyed by all eight of us.

Such a memorable holiday in a lovely area of France Thank you, Steve for being the perfect host.

Great family holiday

  • 4 of 5

Really lovely place for a family holiday, we took one cottage and my sister's family another. We arrived on the day of a car rally but the owner met us and access to the property was easy. Lovely cottages for both of us, the pool was fantastic and the the gardens and privacy were perfect. The village is really nice, a good bar where we ate regularly. Carcassonne was very nice, but the best part was coming back and getting into the pool and chilling in the sun! Thanks for a great holiday

Further Details:

There is plenty to see and do in region around Carcassonne.

There are numerous freshwater lakes for swimming as well as wonderful forest walks, running, cycling and mountain biking opportunities. There are mountains, rivers, trout streams and lakes, ancient cities, towns, villages, thermal springs, abbeys, and cathedrals, châteaux and castles, notably the famous mountain fortresses popularly known as Cathar castles.

The region is famous for its wine and vineyards, bustling markets, festivals and live entertainment, including the magnificent fireworks display in Carcassonne on 14th July, Bastille Day.

The Carcassonne Festival always features

great bands, this year featuring Sting, Johnny Hallyday

as well a host of other rock, pop and classical concerts.

We are not too far away from Mediterranean beaches.

The sea beaches of Languedoc Roussillon tend to be

larger and sandier than Provence's pebbly equivalents,

and some stretch for miles along the coastline . If you get off the beaten track, some of Languedoc's beaches are amongst the most beautiful in the South of France.

Narbonne Plage is a huge sandy beach, and only 1 hour away.  La Franqui and Leucate are two of Languedoc's beaches that are regarded as 'excellent'. Part of La Franqui's beach is double-sided - with the sea on one side and the etang (inland lake) on the other. Leucate has two beaches - one larger one that feels like a southern Californian or Australian beach town, and a more remote, thin strip of beach bordered by rocks. Another delightful beach is Argèles - Languedoc's most famous beach - which at its northern end is truly beautiful,

with its stunning views of the Pyrenees. There are thermal springs and spas, grottos and caves, and reminders of the Languedoc's long and rich history, and everywhere reminders of the the Cathars and the Papal Crusade against them.
