About the Owner

Liz, French does the marketing and the welcoming of the holiday makers when they arrive. "Always happy to meet the people I have being emailing, making sure they have everything they need and trying to share my love for this beautiful place / part of France."

Liz is now living on the property in the adjacent barn, newly renovated, breeding llamas and angora goats, babies due in June, come and help feeding them or walking them! Also working the wool, spinning, carding, felting...hopefully the workshop will be operational in the Spring.

Perfect French holiday home.

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd stay at Moulin Latour, and we have already booked for next year. The mill is typically French, full of character and in a beautiful setting.

Liz is an exceptional host, she speaks fluent English and is very attentive and helpful.

There was plenty of room for our family of 5 and 2 dogs who made most welcome. The extensive gardens and delightful pool area are perfect for all the family for all occasions.

Ste Alvère is a pretty little town with all facilities you are likely to need.

There are many beautiful attractions nearby including castles, chateaus and river beaches where canoeing is available and for the more energetic Liz can organise bike rides.

There are many good restaurants nearby.

We would most definitely recommend this to friends and relatives.

Relax in the Dordogne

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at the "Moulin Latour" in St Alvere for a week in July 2013. We are a family of three and were joined by my father and his wife for the holiday. The property was exactly what we expected from the pictures and description, clean well presented and very comfortable. We also had our German Shepherd dog Jack who just loved the large grounds and the stream to cool down in, that is when he was not looking for Liz the owner to persuade her to throw a stick for him. The pool was lovely and warm and well looked after and a welcome

retreat on a hot summer day. Liz has her Llamas which are an added attraction to the grounds and fun to watch.

St Alvere is a lovely small town with a well stocked mini-market for

all the essentials. There is a bar/cafe and a couple of bakers all of

which we made good use of. There is a good tennis court in the town and you can pick up the key for the court from the bar/cafe for a small fee. The market is also well worth a visit with meats, fresh fish, cooked foods, wine, bakers ... and much more.

The property is close to many good restaurants we particularly enjoyed the Auberge Les Truffieres which was a fantastic relaxed meal with the best local produce in a laid back family atmosphere.

Liz the owner is very friendly, speaks fluent English and was most

helpful throughout the whole week, the perfect host! We all have no hesitation in recommending the "Moulin Latour" as a holiday home in the Dordogne and would love to go back ourselves.

Moulin Latour is a beautiful watermill in a delightful location . Ideal for families or those who just want to relax . The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the house was beautifully presented . We enjoyed feeding the ducks and meeting the llamas . The village is just a short walk and has a market , 2 patisseries a Tabac and boulanger . Liz made the holiday being very pleasant and helpful. There is much to do and lots of places of interest a short drive away . We should love to go back

Secluded, rural village property

  • 5 of 5

Elizabeth the owner looked after us really well with a welcoming bottle of wine and a very friendly tour of the property. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the bath rooms/ensuites are all excellently positioned.

WE had three children aged 11 - 15 and they enjoyed their stay. The swimming pool was great, the bicycles were used and the other games badminton and swingball were also great fun.

Elizabeth keeps lamas, sheep and goats. We were treated to a first hand experience of feeding time which the kids really enjoyed. They also took them for a walk on leads around the large fields surrounding the property.

We walked/cycled into the village most evenings and had a drink at the bar and a lovely crepe meal in the organic creperie.

WE spent one day in Bergerac and another in Sarlat both vibrant historic towns. LE Bugue has the nearest supermarket and lots of great restaurants and farmers shops. We did kayaking from limeuil. We did the two hour trip which was perfect. We also did Karting with garden Karting. The kids really loved this and on the penultimate day we went horse riding on a two hour hike around the forests near Ste Alvere. There is lots to do in the local area and it was only a pity that we didn't stay for longer.

Thoroughly recommend the property and the region.

I just fell in love with this beautiful stone house, also love the sound of the water flowing under the house. Just in the heart of all the touristic spots but also quiet if you wish to stay at the mill.
