Country Villa & Cottage near Loule, Algarve, Portugal - Beautiful Location Set Within Olive, Almond and Citrus Trees, Loule (8mins), Beach (15mins)

Casa de Parreira (House of the Vine) is an attractive Portuguese house tastefully built in 2000 on the site of an old farmhouse. The studio cottage was renovated at the same time and was formerly a farm building. The house is constructed 'upside down' to take advantage of the extensive views towards the coast and inland to the hinterland. The large entrance hall leads to a master King sized bedroom with en-suite and a twin bedroom & bathroom. Upstairs,is a large openplan lounge and dining area leading through to a spacious well equipped kitchen. French windows lead onto the balcony terrace overlooking the pool and distant hills. A third bedroom (twin or king combination) located on the first floor. The studio cottage consists of a living & kitchen area, a twin bedroom, bathroom with shower and an attractive wooden stairs leading to a mezzanine sleeping area with double bed. The house, garden & secluded pool are secure within a walled garden, making it ideal for young families.

I live in North Wales with my wife & two teenage daughters & we have a pet Tibetan Terrier dog, chickens & ducks and love the outdoor life.

We used to own our own business which we operated from our office some 5 minutes from home. We are now both 'retired' and spend time in France, Portugal and the UK.

We both love driving Audi cars (but currently I have a Jaguar for a change!). We live in the countryside here in the UK & our house in the Algarve is in a similar type of country location.

We are a very active family & love skiing, walking, running, swimming, golf and the outdoor life.

We love living part of the year in France and enjoying the cuisine, culture, scenery, wine & joie de vie!! We spend early summer and October in Portugal.

Why Andrew Spink chose Varejota

We bought the house in 2004 to provide us with an escape from our busy business lives in the UK. We chose the Algarve because of it's beautiful climate, especially through the winter months, access to lots of golf courses and beaches and ease of convenience to travel there from the UK.

We can go door to door in less than 6 hours. We did not want to buy a house in a real tourist area, but wanted the option of being able to dip in and out of tourist spots when we felt like it. The house is set in beautiful unspoilt countryside, but is not remote or isolated. We love walking and MTB along the local footpaths and tracks which lead from the house into an area of natural beauty.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy the laid back qualities of life on the Algarve and the ability to live alfresco during the summer months. Equally, to have breakfast outside on the balcony in lovely morning sunshine is a fantastic tonic (east facing) especially during the autumn and winter months when you would be shivering outside at home in the UK. The house is conveniently located, 25 minutes from Faro airport, 15 minutes from Vilamoura and 10 minutes to Loule centre and only 45 minutes to the Spanish border or 60 minutes to the west coast and the Cabo.

Notes on accommodation: The property is furnished to a very high standard, making it more than just a typical holiday rental villa. A solar heating panel provides plenty of free hot water on those not to be forgotten, sunny Algarve holidays. The house, garden & pool are secure within a fenced and walled garden, making it ideal for young families. The pool is 1.2 m at shallow end and 3m at the deep end. The garden is set out amongst almond and olive trees with southern european plants, lemon tree (for your G&T's) and vine by the pool. The vine provides superb shade during the height of summer where you can enjoy your lunch or afternoon sleep. Whilst the house does not have aircon, the house could be described as cool in the summer with the slight elevation and being 300ft above sea level, there is sufficient breeze and movement of air through the house to alleviate very hot temperatures in July and August. Fans provided. We also suggest mid night dips in the 'pool during the heat of summer - but be sober! Outside: The swimming pool is private and not shared and is 8 metre x 5 metre. Deepend is 3 m deep & 1.2 m at the shallow end. The swimming pool area is also separately fenced off to ensure safety and peace of mind for families with small children. Childrens toys and games are available if required. Garden furniture is provided with sun beds, loungers with tables and sunbrollies etc. Parts of the garden are within almond and olive trees and there is also a shaded terrace to provide shade and protection from the strong sunlight, when required. The protected garden provides an ideal location for naturists and for wintersun, with lovely sunny areas perfumed with the scent of Freesias, Orange blossom & Jasmine etc. Garden lights provide an ideal setting for summer evenings eating & relaxing alfresco either in the garden or on the balcony terrace, complete with outside dining table and chairs for 10. BBQ is available. Garage & parking area are located outside the walled garden with sensor lighting. Utility Room: Ironing board and iron, clothes dryer, vacuum and cleaning materials /brushes and mops etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels & linen included within rental prices and are changed weekly. Property cleaned weekly. Service could be more frequent, to suit customers needs at additional charge. Please enquire with specific requirements. Swimming pool cleaned twice weekly. Other: Under stairs storage area for luggage bags etc and storage of utility items ie ironing board and iron, vacuum etc.

Just came home after a week at Casa da Parreira and we all would like to go back right away! Wat a beautiful villa. We booked the house for 3 families, 10 people including 3 small children. Everyone had a great time. We only slept in the house, de rest of the time we spend outside. The pool was great. We couldn't find a sleeping cot for the baby but managed perfectly without.

Would definitely recommend this property!

Lovely country retreat.

This house is very nice and spacious, with plenty of outside space. We only used 1 bedroom in the cottage and it is a nice separate space. House very adequately supplied and stocked. The pool was big enough for our family of seven. Road access tricky, fairly narrow. We enjoyed our stay here.

Beautiful property with a fantastic pool

We booked this property with two other family's, they had the main house between them and my wife / son and myself had the old farm building. The property was more then sufficient for the nine of us and we couldn't fault it in any way, just how its described on here (clean and well maintained) The pool and pool area were just what we needed, a large enough pool for all of us to have some family fun in together and shallow enough at one end for the 5 year old. Very good directions from the owner from the airport to the property. Overall a fantastic two week break, would highly recommend this proper

Everything we hoped it would be 😊

We have just returned from 3 weeks stay at Casa Parreira and we had the most relaxing time. From the first day the villa and setting were just perfect. We did get lost trying to find it, but stumbled back onto the directions and found it easy once we were on the right track !!

From entering the villa, everything was just wow, the house itself was lovely, nicely furnished with everything you could ever need. The pool was lovely, although a little cold as it was still early in the season, but not so cold that you couldn't get in and swim, which I did everyday.

The villa is conveniently placed, in a lovely rural location with amazing view to the front and you can even see the sea. Only 10 minute drive to the supermarkets, all on one road so plenty to choose from.

We ate in every night, fired up that great BBQ and had relaxed evenings in which was just what we wanted.

We have been to Portugal before so have been all over and we did some visiting to places that we haven't been to, all conveniently near the motorway and easy to get to.

We were so disappointed to leave and I'm hoping in the not to distant future we will be back, a wonderful home from home.

Lovely villa

We we just back from a two week break at this lovely villa. This villa is everything it says it is.

Having 11 people in our party we still manage to find a quiet spot when needed as it's very spacious.

The are above the pool was handy for us. It was gated so it kept the little ones away from the pool area when needed. We moved the table from the barbecue area up there for nights and would play cards and dominos while sampling the wine and super bock 👍

The view from the villa at night is gorgeous right over the hills.

We visited the water park, zoo marine, Tavira beach (beautiful beach) ate at some nice restaurants (jolly bella) Loule very cheep. Went to the markets at Quarteira(wednesday)and Loule (Saturday)

Definitely need to hire cars for exploring the area. Quite a tight area for parking but we managed to get three cars down there 😀

The villas owner provided excellent customer care. Nothing was too much bother and all questions were answered quickly and efficiently.

The property was clean and well maintained by the lovely pool/handyman and the cleaning lady.

I highly recommend this villa. Fab 👍👍

Special interest holidays:

Horse riding and pony trekking is available locally within 5 minutes by car by English speaking owners. The property is situated on the very edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - with an abundance of wild flora and plants which can be seen from October to May. For experienced rock climbers, the Rocha de Pera is only 15 minutes away and a group of male climbers who stayed at Casa da Parreira commented on how wonderful the climb was. Ideal for walking directly into the countryside for plant enthusiasts or people who just enjoy the outdoors and appreciate nature at its very best. Ideal location for a water sport / activity group holiday - a canoeing party stayed at the house in December 2010 to beat the frozen waters of the UK and enjoyed ideal temperatures of 18 degrees ( they returned again in January 2012!).


The nearest beaches are reached in just 15 to 20 minutes by car at Vilamoura, Quarteira, Vale do Lobo and Falesia, other resorts of Albufeira, Armarcao etc are within 25 to 30 minutes. The house is located inland and requires a car to travel to the nearest beaches and restaurants etc.


Faro airport is under 25 minutes by car. Use of a car is recommended to fully enjoy your stay in the Algarve.

We can provide contact details for local based car hire company's at Faro Airport, rather than using the national operators.

The nearest train station is at Loule or Tunes for fast high speed trains to Lisbon in less than 2 hours at very inexpensive rates, ie less than 20 euro return for first class.


The nearest town Loule & supermarket at Loule is 8 mins by car. The Saturday market is a must! With its Moorish origins it is an attractive town with a thriving market, located on a tree lined avenue with shops, restaurants & craftsman workshops. Faro town is 20 minutes by car and Silves & Albufeira 25 minutes away.

Local villages of interest include Alte, Salir & the hilltop village of Querenca with a regional restaurant & stunning views across the countryside. All within 20 minutes by car.

There are a wide range of activities and sports facilties close by including, tennis at Villa Club Tennis Centre near Almancil & Jim Smith Tennis Academy at Quinta do Lago.

The local countryside to the north around Alte, Silves and Monchique lends itself to both cycling and mountain biking.

For walkers, November to March are amongst the best months to explore the Algarve hinterland on foot, a feature of the Algarve winter is the non-polluted air quality. There are plenty of interesting walks straight from the house, venturing into the farmlands, foothills and woodlands of the Algarve and Alentejo.

For Horse riding enthusiast's there are a number of riding and trekking centres very close by, including qualified English speaking instructors. (Having used them we can recommend them)

Restaurants and Dining Out:

There are numerous restaurants within 25 minutes of Casa de Parreira to suit every budget and appetite.

The main locations are at Loule, Almancil, Faro, Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago,Lagoa and the hinterland villages of Querenca, Salir, Alte and Silves.

Further away, but ideal for lunchtime eating are the restaurants on the mountain road out of Monchique.

Deposit 25% of rental to be paid in full at the time of booking.
Balance: To be paid in full two months before arrival date. Security deposit £250 (refundable deposit subject to no damage). Rental price includes cleaning weekly, gas, water, electricity, bedlinen, hand and bath towels. Excludes the cost of wood in the low (winter) season. We usually make a charge of about £30 to £40 per week.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day: Saturday during the months of July/end of August. If you cannot book flights for this day, please contact us to see if we can accommodate you on a different day. Out of season we are flexible, get the best flight price an call me directly.

Notes on prices:
The rental rates quoted are minimum rental rates based on a occupancy of 6 persons using the main house. Please enquire about rates for the house & cottage for up to 10 persons.

Peak rates in July & August are between £1100 and £1250 per week for 10 people. Enquire regarding your group size for the most economical rates. Discounts are available, ie two week summer rentals & long winter lets through to May 2017.

Discounts available up to 20% on winter rates for over 14 day lets.

We do accept small dogs with prior permission. There would be a charge of £35.00 per week per dog. Please ask before booking.

I prefer to speak to prospective guests before they make a booking, so I welcome enquiries by phone to make the enquiry more personal.
