Traditional style village house in pretty, white mountain village. 2 terraces, one for dining, one with jacuzzi/plunge pool - available all year. Comfortable and peaceful. Open views from the private terraces - only overlooked by the neighbouring olive grove and mountains. Parking directly outside, unlike many similar properties. Free wifi coverage throughout property and terraces. There is a large, split-level living/dining/kitchen with great views to the rear. Both bedrooms are upstairs, with a large family bathroom. Outside is a small laundry area, dining terrace, jacuzzi terrace and shower room and toilet.

Hi - we are Laurie and Brenda Mellor, on the cusp of retirement, keen on music, cricket, food, lovely places, travel (we visit India regularly and have enjoyed trips to Uganda, Gambia and Guyana amongst others). We currently work in financial services, which is all about people, not numbers, as is commonly supposed. We love hosting people at our little house in Spain and try to make it feel as much like home as possible. We visit at least twice a year to make sure everything is up to scratch. Got 2 boys, who are great fun and keep us on our toes.

Beautiful sanctuary

This is a beautiful house with breathtaking views of olive groves and mountains. A short walk takes you down to the main square where lovely bars and Tapas awaits. After a fabulous walk in the hills you can relax in the hot tub with a glass of cava. very well equipped and the host helps you settle in straight away, thanks Brenda and Jill , we highly recommend this house for relaxing break.

Sweet Stay with Beautiful Scenery

We loved our stay in this sweet home. The views were beautiful especially on the drive from the airport (we opted for the longer scenic route). The house is perfectly equipped with everything you would need for a relaxing break. The village is quite remote, we really liked that though. It acts as the perfect retreat after exploring some of the neighbouring bigger towns such as Ronda and Zahara. Montejaque itself has ample restaurants and shops so you can eat out and get all the essentials you need via a short walk.

The owners are extremely knowledgeable and left loads of information about what to do and where to go.

We would highly recommend for a bolt hole in the spanish mountains, perfect for exploring and experiencing spanish culture.

Rather disappointing

We booked for 12 nights and took the decision to leave after 9, mainly due to the road works approx. 50 feet from the house. With noisy activity starting at 6:30am this didn't give us the quiet, relaxing holiday we were expecting.

we did enjoy the town's cultural week of 4 nights of free entertainment in the square, followed by the feria for 2 nights. Unfortunately this also attracted a large crowd of people who carried on the festivities one night in the parking area at the end of the road, leaving broken glass and rubbish on visitors' car.

On a positive note, Jill was very helpful with minor issues we had ie pool temperature and the state of the kettle.

Overall, the property needs a bit of cleaning/maintenance around the pool area and the tile grouting in both bathrooms. The outside area was smaller than we expected, there's limited space for sun loungers, even for 2 people.

We would stay in this area again but not at this property.

House of Dreams Confirmed !

We stayed in Casita de Suenos for a week in September 2014 and can thoroughly recommend it ! The owner and local agent are very informative and welcoming. The cottage itself is in a beautiful and friendly village - everyone says 'Hola' when you see them. The cottage location is extremely handy for the parking at the end of the village, just a short walk, and Ronda is a 20 minite drive from Montejaque. The view from the patio is amazing, we never tired of that, watching Griffon Vultures soaring over the hill. The hot tub / jacuzzi is very welcoming at the end of a day's exploring or walking, and first thing in the morning with a coffee :-) The inside of the cottage is deceptively roomy, a large kitchen, pre-stocked with lots of useful essentials when we arrived, large bathroom, comfortable bedroom. All in all we could not imagine a nicer place to stay in the village, so would thoroughly recommend booking ! We are (again). Mike & Annemarie, Sept 2014

From the Owner

We were looking for somewhere away from the coast, which was just too expensive and over-developed. Ronda was a real draw, so we looked at property close by and were shown a small flat in Montejaque to begin with. We also looked at places near Arriate, but we were already smitten with this friendly village and its fantastic location. For us, it has the perfect combination of village and rural life, yet within reach of a real centre, with all the facilities you could need. We hear Spanish spoken more than English and life moves at a civilised pace. The house was a mess when we bought it - two large outbuildings (allegedly the kitchen and bathroom!!) stood (just about!) where the dining terrace and the jacuzzi terrace are now and the interior was gloomy and unloved. How times have changed!

45km to the coast at San Pedro. Marbella/Puerto Banus/Estepona approx 55km.

Lake swimming close to the village - nearest road access 15km.

15km to Ronda - bullring, gorge, Moorish sights, Setenil 20km. Granada 180km, Cadiz 150km, Cordoba 160km.

There's no doubt that the decision to install a jacuzzi has been the right one. It just adds that something extra - whether in winter (how lovely to sit in the hot tub after a crisp winter day's walking, to ease tired legs) or summer (cooling off in the plunge pool with a drink, a book and a friend). It has sometimes been a nightmare (regular maintenance from Kevin has reduced problems to a minimum now) but overall has been a great investment. We are also really pleased that we decided to buy in this particular street. Because of the mountainous terrain, our street manages to link the main square at one end and almost complete wilderness at the other PLUS you can park in our road (rare in the older part of the village). No mountain climbing just to reach the house with your luggage!
