This cottage is a spacious and tastefully restored two bedroom property leading off the main courtyard.
The accommodation, giving from a main entrance hall, comprises one twin-bedded room and a second double-bedded room, with a very large fully equipped bathroom with external window.
The combined living and dining room is well furnished, including a sofa-bed, and this leads to a small but complete kitchenette.
The main room has patio doors leading onto its private south facing terrace, with table and chairs and a hammock.
This in turn gives on to the garden and pool areas.
These are a pair of rural cottages that have recently been restored by their Anglo-Portuguese owners in this delightful country property about 50 minutes north of Lisbon airport on the main A1 motorway. The cottages are both tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished with plenty of space. There is also an ample garden with fruit (when in season) from the trees for the guests to enjoy. There is a good size swimming pool and large sun deck together with a Barbecue area and tennis table and other games in a traditional open sided barn. There are several bicycles and other equipment necessary to complement an excellent holiday. The cottages are on the edge of a small hamlet with two cafés and a small general store all within 100 metres of the property. Fresh bread can be delivered daily to the house by the local baker, and the fresh fish supplier also calls once a week to the village. Close by (10km.) on the banks of the Tagus river is the famous castle town of Santarém. The cottage is fully licensed with the local Council under the Alojamento Local scheme which ensures compliance with safety standards.

We had a week holiday with 2 kids and loved the house and especially the swimming pool. The house is full with extra's like table tennis, big BBQ and place to eat outside, table football. We enjoyed every morning a 'bika' at the local bar. Perfect stay to get away from a busy life. Helen is very helpful and response quickly.

We request a 50% deposit to confirm the reservation, and the rest to be paid not less than 4 weeks before arrival. An extra bed will be charged at 10% of the daily rate. Changeover Day:
We prefer Saturday changeover days but are flexible.. Access is after 5pm. on your arrival day, and departure by 10am. on the final day of your holiday, unless specific alternative arrangements have been agreed meantime.

We ask for 50% of the total value to confirm booking and the remaining at least 4 weeks before arrival. An extra bed will be charged at 10% of the daily rate. Special prices for long lets out of peak season - please contact owner. During winter rentals, electricity will be paid according to meters reading.
We choose the place based on description and pictures on OwnersDirect. Nearly everything was better in reality.
We especially loved the garden with the fantastic combination of places to enjoy sun, places with shadow below e.g. palms, places with shelter and places with nice breeze. A favorite spot was our terrace with the nice shadow below carob-like vegetation and fantastic views.
We can really recommend this property and would love to stay there again.
Coast/Beach:
This is an excellent area for touring. It is strategically located for access to the West coast beaches and resorts yet is close to the historical monuments and beautiful countryside of central Portugal. Santarém is a particularly beautiful thriving market town with a good supply of historical monuments, cultural activities, shopping centre, cinemas, swimming pool and waterslide park etc. The twice monthly market is also well worth visiting. Close by are several important sites to visit.
Travel:
Lisbon airport is about 80km. away with very simple motorway access. The car journey shouldn’t take more than about 50 minutes.
A rental car is recommended unless you intend to stay put in the village.
Distances:
Santarém is about 10km. away, and the centre of Lisbon 100km.

For safety reasons (the swimming pool is not fenced) parents may want to consider the suitability of this property for young children.
House towels and linen are provided. Swimming pool/beach towels are NOT provided. Internet access is available.
