Ground Floor Apartment in Maremar, 2 pools set in gardens next to the sea.

Playas (Platges) de Fornells is an attractive development of small communities built in traditional Menorquin style, set in well maintained gardens, right by the coastline. Each community comprises villas and apartments and are generally privately owned. Our apartment is Ideal for couples and small families! There is a double bedroom and we can sleep your children/additional adult/s on the twin sofa beds in the living area. We can also supply a cot if required. The apartment comprises open kitchen/living/dining area, a double bedroom and bathroom with outside patio with patio furniture and a couple of sun loungers, facing the pool, baby pool and sea. We have the added bonus of two large swimming pools set in gardens for the exclusive use of the community of Maremar. We enjoy a fantastic location with sea views overlooking a picture postcard cove. Sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling are possible from the rocks opposite the apartment, where you can view impressive sunsets out to sea. You are within easy walking distance to supermarkets, bars and restaurants and the lovely beach of Tirant (Playas/Platges de Fornells). Fornells harbour with its many restaurants is 5 minutes away by car or bus/taxi.

We got back safely to the UK after a fabulous week in Menorca! Firstly the apartment was lovely, had everything we needed and was in the most beautiful quiet area but still close enough to everything and everywhere we wanted to explore. The weather was glorious and it was so nice to have the pool to cool off in.

Thank you for being so very helpful with the area, apartment, car hire and info in the apartment too. We really couldn't have asked for a nicer holiday and break away and definitely would love to go back again. C and M xx 2014

Ideal accommodation in a perfect location

We had a very relaxing holiday; the accommodation is ideally placed for good restaurants, bars and the beach with a handy bar next door. Car parking is perfect with plenty of space for the hire car.

The kitchen is well equipped if you wish to self-cater and the pool could not be more conveniently placed. Overall, the ideal quiet holiday retreat.

Location

Menorca has changed very little in appearance in the last 35 years since we first started visiting. We loved the north coast with the small villages and farms and thought it unspoilt, so unlike the Spanish Costas! We love the fact that you can easily travel around to different locations and beaches and swim in the beautiful clear blue sea.

Coast/Beach:

Our beach of Tirant is at the entrance to the village, which is a 15/20 minute walk away. It comprises a small sandy cove and a further longer sandy unspoilt beach with loungers available in high season accessed via a short decked and stepped pathway. Both are excellent for swimming and are safe as they are gently sloping with soft yellow sand. Behind the main beach no building is allowed so it is particularly tranquil, with wide views of the countryside.

Travel:

Mahon airport is a thirty minute drive away. Car hire is recommended to make full use of what the island has to offer and car hire is recommended via pick up and drop off at the airport. Taxis are available at the airport for transfers and throughout the island. Buses run from Playas de Fornells to Mahon and villages and resorts in the vicinity, with connections to the whole island.

Distances:

There are many beautiful unspoilt and serviced beaches in the vicinity. Fornells harbour and village 3km, Mercadal village 7km. Further afield you can visit the larger traditional Spanish capitals of Mahon and Cuitadella 20km approx each way. Smaller local towns include Ferriers, 10km and Alayor 10km. In summer there are many local fiestas held around villages of the island. There are many prehistoric and ancient sites on Menorca including the ruins of the Roman port of Santiga.

Further Details:

Several restaurants and bars (approx 10 on the development), including Okapi,Cafe Del Nord and Es Cactus with WiFi and two supermarkets within easy walking distance in Playas de Fornells. For an meal out try Can Marga at Ses Salines or the harbour side village of Fornells which is a five minutes drive (3km) away by car with a larger selection of a dozen or so bars and restaurants plus a bank and more shops, resort clothing and supermarkets etc. A ten minute drive (7km) inland at the foot of Mount Toro is the small pretty traditional town of Mercadal where there are even more bars, banks, restaurants and shops! Menorca is an excellent source for shoes, sandals and bags with several famous shoe manufactures based close by with outlets. Also available is a wide range of attractive resort clothing, costume jewellery, pottery, paintings and craftware; foodstuffs include Menorcan Gin, Cava, locally produced meats, wine and cheeses. The local towns hold market days and open air concerts in the Summer. Windsurfing and sailing is available in Ses Salines, Fornells and Addaya. The area is well known as a marine protection area and the north has beautiful countryside with small farms reaching to the sea. Kayaks, paddle boards, boat hire/trips and horse riding available locally. Spring and late summer are particularly popular with walkers and birdwatchers. If you are looking for a peaceful break try May, June, September and October! The island is in full swing during July and August but it is still possible to find a quiet spot, especially if you hire a car.

Booking Notes

Please contact us for a booking form. We request £100 deposit per week, balance 8 weeks before your holiday.

We can normally confirm availability by return (or within a couple of hours!). Please email or phone. We may be able to hold your provisional booking for 24 hours whilst you arrange payment and flights. Payment by bank transfer or personal cheque once we have agreed terms.

Our apartment on Maremar is in a residential community without touristic facilities. We offer long lets, please enquire for details.

Changeover Day

Flexible to fit around other existing bookings. Saturday entry and exit in June/July/August with duration of 7/14/21/28 days.

Stays of 8/9/10/11/12/13 nights etc please enquire, normally possible outside of June/July/August.

We request arrival after 2pm, departure by 10am with some flexibility depending on other bookings

Rates are based on 2 persons. Additional charges for 3rd and 4th person sleeping on the single sofa beds £10 each per night.
Baby charge for cot and linen £10 per night.

Keys available from our English / Spanish speaking resident management company. Full apartment information/ driving directions, etc available after booking.

No security deposit required, we trust our guests to notify us of any damage that has happened during your stay and offer to cover costs.

Cancellation refunds: The deposit is non refundable. Cancellation before your holiday: 4-8 weeks - 50% of balance refunded. Less than 4 weeks - no refund.

Our holiday home is in an ideal location. The sea is so close that you can lie in bed and hear the waves and smell the sea. Maremar has extensive gardens and the benefit of two swimming pools plus a baby pool. Our home is actually single storey, so although the classification is an apartment, it’s actually looks like a mini semi-detached villa!

  • Suits 2 adults sleeping in the double bedroom and a 3rd /4th child/person sleeping on two single sofa beds in the living area. We can also accommodate a baby if requested. Close to Fornells village and Tirant beach. The area attracts walkers and birdwatchers in Spring and late Summer. Ideal if you are looking for a ground floor holiday home with immediate access to Maremar's communal gardens and swimming pools and are not looking for organised entertainment and a lively night life. Several restaurants and bars plus a supermarket all within 10 minutes walking distance on the development. Outside: Private patio with patio furniture and sun loungers so you can sunbathe or eat outside overlooking the gardens, pools and sea. Playas de Fornells has a very Spanish look and is exceptionally attractive with no ugly buildings to spoil the continuity. Suitable for those who enjoy staying in a beautiful location with spectacular sea views. May, June, September & October are the quieter months with July & August the busier months of high summer, although and you can always find a peaceful spot! Cleaning: On arrival the apartment will be clean & tidy.
