Beautiful private villa with large pool (fenced & gated for safety) set in a country location with stunning views. Casa Vista Montanha (mountain view) is a white Algarvian style property maintained to a much higher than normal standard. Air-conditioning throughout. Manicured lawns & beautifully landscaped gardens containing orange, lemon, carob & palm trees. Large lounge with brand new wide screen SMART TV & DVD player, cream leather recliners, leather sofa. Two sets of patio doors to terraces & pool deck. Lounge has a bay window at one end that overlooks the pool deck to the mountains in the distance. Now with two new pergolas for shade & an outside shower. Separate dining room with period furniture. The master bedroom has a stunning hand carved double bed with 'Tempur' mattress & patio door to the rear terrace with it's panoramic views. 2 twin bedded rooms, one with a door to the breakfast terrace. Sat TVs in 2 bedrooms. Safe in the master bedroom wardrobe. En-suite bathroom with under floor heating, massage shower, corner bath. New family shower room. BBQ on rear terrace with plenty of furniture for some 'Alfresco' dining. A CAR can be provided at extra cost on application. Price guide on our own website. Big terraces surround the villa & there is plenty of space for parking several cars.

About the Owner

Casa Vista Montanha is a much loved family home belonging to the Joyner family. I live in a most beautiful part of Surrey surrounded by some stunning countryside. I am married with one daughter, Harriet. She has visited our villa several times every year since she was born! One of our first photographs is of Hatty sat in a pink baby bath under the palm tree on the back lawn. The palm tree was about a metre high and Hatty was 6 months old. The palm tree is now much higher than the house and Hatty is now 27 years old! My husband is also as big as a house... an ex rugby player! We have a little Papillon dog called 'Puppy'. My parents, Roy and Shirley Joyner, are retired and so are able to stay at the villa the most. They go in the winter when the property is in not so much demand.

stunning villa

We have stayed in villas several times in the past and this is one of the best. It is obviously a home and not just a rental. Very peaceful location but close to alvor. The villa is spotless and very well looked after. The mature gardens were tended lovingly by the gardener and everything is kept to a very high standard by the manager Maria. We will definitely be back.

Love It !!

We have stayed in this villa over 5 times and love it. The location is very quiet with lovely views over the Portugese landscape. We have always found the villa to be immaculately clean and the lady who cleans and manages the property could not be more helpful. Although you definitely need a car for this accommodation, there are some lovely local places to eat and shop and we have also enjoyed golf just over the hillside behind the villa. The pool is a good size and the garden is beautifully kept and we fully intend to go again.

We bought the land for our property about 30 years ago. We chose this area because we are only 10 minutes from the sea yet in a quiet country location, perfect in August! We have stunning views across unspoilt countryside to the Monchique Mountains. The area is called 'Serra e Mar', mountains and sea. The best of both worlds! We had the villa designed and built to our own requirements. Spacious rooms, lots of terraces, large pool and all facing the panoramic view. From the property we can get to the west coast easily, well worth a visit for it's more rugged coastline. Easy access to the old road which goes into the mountains, you hardly pass a car most of the way. Go up for Chicken Piri-Piri! Lisbon is 2-3 hours drive. Seville about the same. So a good location for visiting lots of places.

Coast/Beach:

Several wonderful golden sand beaches, including Praia de Vau Beach, within 10 mins drive. Alvor village is the nearest and very nice in the evenings with plenty of excellent restaurants, live music, shops open etc. Meia Praia beach at Lagos is very long and so never crowded. There is windsurfing, tennis courts, sunloungers with shade and 5 restaurants on the beach.

Travel:

Faro airport is approx. 40mins drive. British Airways, Monarch, Easyjet & Ryan Air all fly there. A Car is essential and can be provided on application at extra cost. Visit our own website for an indication of cost. A very easy drive on the new motorway.

Distances:

Portimao is 10 mins drive with it's new marina, sardine restaurants, supermarkets and shops. Lagos 15/20 mins. drive, also with a marina and a very nice old town with cobbled streets and squares full of shops, restaurants and cafes. Silves is well worth a visit, set on a hill and surrounded by orange groves, with it's medieval fort, about 20 mins drive.

Further Details:

Supermarket is just 5 mins drive. Several local restaurants within a few minutes drive or a lovely walk from the bottom of our grounds across an unspoilt valley at lunchtime. You can enjoy lunch with fresh local produce and a bottle of wine for about 10 euros each! Try a trip up the mountain for a chicken piri-piri lunch and stunning views back to the coast.

From the Owner

The nearest village is Alvor on the coast, 10 mins. drive. Lovely & traditional! The new 'boardwalk' (8 million euros worth!) is fantastic & opens up the lagoon. We are close to Portimao & Lagos, nice towns, good shops & excellent restaurants. All sorts of boat trips along the stunning coast or up the river to Silves, spot the turtles, or out into Lagos Bay to see the dolphins. There are several excellent restaurants within a 5 min. drive. Fonte de Pedra & O Tasco are more basic in decor but with well cooked local dishes at good prices. Solar do Farelo and Amadeus are both more sophisticated food & so slightly more expensive. Solar do Farelo is my favourite by far, free wine on several lunchtimes with a set menu. Say hello from us to hard working Fernando, the owner. Can get very busy.

Notes:

  • Maria our maid/manageress comes in several mornings a week (depending on time of year) to clean the property and help when required. Mosquito screens to some windows. Air conditioning. Heating. Suitable for children as the pool is fenced and gated. For peace of mind we have an alarm system which is very easy to use. The property is inspected on a regular basis. There is a fire extinguisher available & a first aid cupboard in the kitchen. Plenty of parking available on drive. 3 terraces and so you can find sun or shade any time of day. Built in new BBQ on the large patio at the back of the villa facing the views across open countryside. New big pergola over BBQ for decent shade whilst dining. Large, private pool with stunning views, shower on pool deck, plenty of sunloungers. The pool area is very tastefully gated (low, decorative, wrought iron) for the safety of small children. For decent shade two further new pergolas on pool deck. Beautifully landscaped grounds with wild area running down to the valley below. Steps and paths for easy access. Orange, lemon, carob and palm trees. 2 manicured lawns. You can walk through our grounds to the countryside below, it is then a very nice walk to several restaurants for lunch! Utility Room: Clothes washing machine, drier & ironing board which the maid uses to save you the trouble. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels & linen are included. Not beach/pool towels. Our maid, Maria, comes in 3-5 mornings a week during peak season, this does vary according to time of year. She speaks English & maintains the villa to a very high standard. Other: Dining room, beautifully furnished with large period table seating 8. FREE wireless internet connection.
