Villa in Praia da Luz, Western Algarve, Portugal - Perfect For Family Holidays. Secure Private Garden and Heated Pool

This owner has been advertising with owners direct since 2004, and completing bookings by BACS, one of the recommended forms of direct payment. Use of the optional online booking system incurs an additional agency fee of between 6 - 8% of the owners listed price, plus VAT, charged to the holiday maker by owners direct.

PROPERTY DETAILS: In a truly enviable location, tucked away in its own private garden, but just 70m from the beach, this well appointed and recently (2015) refurbished 4 bedrooms + 4 bathrooms villa offers excellent accommodation for up to 8 people (+ extra child/baby). Casa das Redes is situated in the beachfront area of Praia da Luz, within the pedestrian and resident only access zone, and with village facilities in very easy reach. The villa is one of four unique and individual residential properties situated within 'Quinta das Redes', which was once the site of the historic beachfront tuna cannery. The original high stone built outer walls of the site provide a desirable level of privacy for the villas within. The villa offers comfortable open plan living, dining and kitchen areas on the ground floor. There are three bedrooms with bathrooms ensuite upstairs, and one bedroom with wetroom ensuite downstairs, plus separate downstairs wc. Outside there is a 9m x 5m heated pool, plus paddling pool set in a secure and private walled garden with lemon trees and palms. There is a comfortable outside seating area, with large sofa and chairs around a tiled top coffee table, and a shaded dining area with built in BBQ overlooking the pool. The ground floor of the villa has level access to the outside areas and down to the beachfront and it's facilities. Ideally positioned for family holidays, the property offers both the advantages and amenities of a central position at the beach, and a high level of privacy and security afforded by the enclosed walled garden. A car is not necessary for a holiday at this property although there is off street parking for one car and secondary parking just outside the gates in the resident parking and access zone. Wifi, TV with all UK channels, freeview, and catch up, a safe, cot, high chair, stair gate. Installation of air conditioning is scheduled for the 2017 season.

About the Owner

My parents purchased our family property in this then undiscovered part of the Algarve in 1966. For many years the farmhouse, which was the surviving building on the site of the old tuna cannery, was a haven of peace for happy family summers. I chose to make my life here in the late 80's, and the property passed to me in 1996. As times changed, and with careful thought, the old farmhouse and outbuildings were remodelled and developed. Today we can offer desirable villa accommodation in the same perfect holiday location we enjoyed as children, but with all modern facilities. We now have many returning guests who have taken Luz to their hearts in the same way as my own family did so many years ago.

Simply stunning villa and a fantastic location

It's not often that you get the perfect accommodation in the perfect location, but this comes pretty close!

The villa is beautiful, with large bedrooms, and fantastic en-suite bathrooms.

The kitchen is well-equipped, and the indoor and outdoor living areas have a very relaxed feel to them.

Catherine - the owner - gave us a warm, friendly welcome and explained the setup, and gave us some useful local knowledge.

The beautiful beach is literally a two minute walk away, and there are a number of good restaurants in walking distance, as well as a number of well-stocked supermarkets (we liked the local one just up the road - they do great pasteis de nata).

The pool area is really lovely, as well as being very secure and private and the lemon trees and plants and flowers give it a really relaxed feel.

Our 4 year old loved playing in the toddler pool in the morning, and then we all got to play in the grown up pool in the afternoon!!

Both the pool cleaners and house cleaner came very regularly and did a great job; the house was spotless.

I guess the best the best review is to say is that we have never booked to stay in the same place two years on the trot - until now - and we're counting down the days until we return.

My family and I stayed at Quinta das Redes for a week in July 2016. The villa is perfectly appointed to the sea and local restaurants, bars and shops. It is furnished and styled to the highest of standards and was immaculately presented upon arrival. Catherine was an amazing hostess, nothing was too much trouble and she made herself available on check in and check out to welcome us and to ensure we had a perfect stay.

I cannot recommend this villa, and subsequent villa's that Catherine owns, highly enough.

An absolutely perfect time was had by us all we will be back!!

Fantastic family villa

We have had several family villas over the years, and have stayed here four or five times - and it is still the best! The house is wonderfully close to the beach which was ideal when our kids were small, and shops are easily accessible. The villa itself is delightful - very clean, well equipped, good sized bedrooms all with bathrooms and a lovely pool area - and the owner was really helpful. The lemon trees are a bonus for those who enjoy a G&T in the evening! We love the fact that there are various bars and restaurants all nearby, as well as supermarkets within walking distance, and the various beach activities (especially the FlyFish) were a huge hit with the teenagers. The nearby bars are lively in the evening, but three of the rooms face into the courtyard garden and none of us were disturbed by noise. The beach is beautiful, especially early in the morning. It's a great place to stay for a pool and beach holiday.

Superb Family Holiday in Luxury

A large group of friends and I have had truly wonderful times at Casa das Redes. It is a most attractive and beautifully appointed villa with its own heated swimming pool located in a neat and tidy garden. All bedrooms have well-appointed ensuites; the beds are very comfortable. The living areas are spacious both inside Casa das Redes and outside on the various patios, we used the large barbecue several times getting fresh fish and meat from local supermarkets or further afield from Lagos. The beautiful beach is virtually next door as are local cafes and very good restaurants. Car parking is straightforward. Booking Casa das Redes and subsequent communications with the owner, Catherine, were very straightforward, she provided very helpful information and recommendations about the area. We are coming stay in Catherine’s smaller villa, The Folly, this year and with all our friends hoping to return to Casa das Redes in 2016. This is superb accommodation in a wonderful setting.

lovely villa in a fabulous location

Best location in Luz. On the doorstep of restaurants and steps from the beach. The villa was clean, spacious and well appointed. The pool was fantastic with a separate shallow area for small children and a high wall all the way around the outside with a secured gate. The owner was extremely helpful and her daughter was available for babysititng during our stay. When my husband left all his medications and vitamins at the end of our stay the owner kindly arranged for her son to bring them to our hotel up the coast. The owner also has a great restaurant 2 doors from the villa. It is the perfect combination for those who like to be in a house but not have to cook all the time. Don't miss the desserts...the sticky toffee pudding is the best I've ever had!

Praia da Luz is arguably one of the prettiest beaches in the Western Algarve, sporting the european blue flag, and classified as accessible with ramps and walkways and facilities for the disabled. East are picturesque rocky coves and the long sandy crescent of Meia Praia at Lagos, within 10 minutes drive. 15 minutes West are the resort beaches of Burgau and Salema, and further again are a multitude of beaches frequented by surfers, Spectacular and less busy but not so safe for small children.


Faro is the nearest airport at only a 1 hour drive away.


Praia da Luz beach 70m. Historic town of Lagos 8 mins by car. Cape St Vincent 30 mins by car.

The villa is centrally placed and within walking distance to all village amenities which include post office, bank, cash dispensing machines, several supermarkets, pharmacy, English-speaking doctors surgery and dentist. Zoomarine dolphin park and Slide and Splash water park provide coach transport from Luz. Anglican church services are held on Sunday in the local church. Tennis is widely available, including lessons and friendly tournaments. There are two water-sport centres on the beach providing everything from banana boat rides, to sailing lessons, to fishing excursions. From Lagos you can try parasailing, deep-sea fishing, dolphin safari, or visit the grottos by fishing boat. There are several surf centers offering day trips to wherever the waves are best on the day, wetsuits, equipment and instruction as required. Luz can offer truly international cuisine in a wide choice of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and occasions. Many are family friendly and also offer a takeaway service. For a change of scene we recommend an evening out in the historic town of Lagos. The 8 minute taxi ride is inexpensive - let us book for you and just sit back and enjoy the local wines. For younger children, a visit to the local zoo is both delightful and educational, and there are kids activities available in the village.

Rentals are by the week and changeover day is Saturday during the summer season. Entry is after 2pm on arrival day and exit by 10am on departure. Some flexibility of changeover day may be possible out of peak season, and for last minute bookings.

Pool heating is included in all prices. Prices are UK Pounds per week unless otherwise stated, although payment may also be made in Euros at the online mid market exchange rate at the time of booking.

Winter lets on application.

A 20% deposit is required to confirm a booking, with the balance of payment falling due 2 months before the start date of the rental period.

  • Notes on accommodation: The washing machine in the villa is solely for guest use (not used by maid service). Firewood is included in the rental price in Easter and winter seasons. Pool heating is included in all seasons except winter. Outside: Secure entry gate allows for a high degree of privacy within the garden, which is laid with traditional calcada patio, and is planted with lemon trees, bougainvillea, and palms. The pool is heated by electric heat pump, and has a cover to retain heat overnight. Pool is cleaned and water tested twice weekly. Pool heating is included in rental price in all seasons except winter. Garden lights and pool lights provide for evening entertainment. Ample sunbeds and outside furniture. Outside shower by the pool. Purpose built under cover barbecue area with dining table. There is one shaded off street parking space. However, with all local amenities and supermarkets nearby, a car is not necessary for a holiday at this property. Outside the villa, and along the beachfront, the road is access only for pedestrians, resident parking and deliveries. Utility Room: Upstairs laundry cupboard with washing machine ironing board and iron. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned on Saturday (changeover day), and Wednesday. Household linens are provided. Linen change Saturday. Towel change Saturday and Wednesday. Please bring your own towels for beach and poolside.
