This modern villa is comfortable and perfect for outdoor living. The newly painted villa is an independent house and the pool is not overlooked. The large garden is totally enclosed. Accommodation on one floor, nicely furnished with all modern comforts. Plenty of space for sunbathing and if shade is sought, there are lovely terraces around the house and a roof terrace. Shopping in Estoi and Sao bras about 5 mins drive. Shopping centre jumbo in Faro on the way home from the beach. A car is necessary. As we often use the villa ourselves we have provided it with all amenities: dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, dvd, satellite tv, air-conditioning and a remodeled kitchen. Estoi is well known for its palace that has become a pousada and for the roman villa. Both can be visited. A welcome pack can be prepared on simple demand (to be paid at arrival).

We live in Belgium and we have 3 children, one boy and 2 girls. My wife and I work, but we spend most of our holidays in Portugal, where we have friends and have fallen in love with the country. Since 1980 we have been travelling all over Portugal, and we know every spot. The Algarve is our preferred region especially the Ria Formosa Natural Park.

Guest comments: we particularly liked the spacious lounge and dining area and the kitchen is very well equipped. We found the setting of the house very relaxing. 'we had a lovely relaxing holiday and really enjoyed our stay. Our little girl had a fabulous time spending most of her time in the pool'. The location was ideal - nice to retreat to at the end of a crowded day on the beach! 'pauline. The highlight was the garden. The landscaping is already a real plus and will be magnificent. A great place to stay and relaxe.

One of the best holidays we have ever had, peace, quiet relaxing with a great pool, everything you could possible need and more, although a rural location, it's still only 3 miles to town with supermarkets and great restaurants.

David was on hand to meet and greet us he is only 100m up the hill should you have any problems of which we only had two miner ones but these were sorted within 24hrs, what more could you ask for, he was also a pleasure to meet and a font of knowledge about the area.

We will be returning to recharge our batteries soon.

Fantastic holiday spent in this gorgeous, spacious and private villa

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at Uma Casa Portuguesa. It really felt homely and there was everything you could possibly need for your stay. The beds were really comfortable too.We all enjoyed the outdoor space. The swimming pool is very safe for children and is set in a pretty and private garden, and the views were lovely. After going out to one of the many lovely local restaurants we spent time star gazing in the evenings as they were so clear-we even saw 6 shooting stars!

David who managed the property was extremely helpful and responsive to our needs which was very useful.

There are lots of gorgeous beaches to explore, pretty towns like Loule to visit and the cork woods are fascinating. We would love to visit again soon, and would definitely recommend this to our friends.

A comfortable and well equipped villa in a peaceful and perfect location

We loved our stay at Uma Casa Portuguesa. It was just as we had hoped it would be. Peaceful, comfortable, well laid out and very well located to visit everywhere in the eastern and central Algarve. Sao Bras is a lovely town. Not obviously too touristy, it has a good market and some lovely cafes. The villa was wonderfully equipped and organised especially in the kitchen which had everything you would ever need for a holiday. David was an invaluable contact and always followed up anything we requested very efficiently. I was particularly grateful that he fixed the swimming pool filter and shower head so quickly. We really appreciated Marguerite who cleaned so well and spoke good english. We loved the villa external lay out. The car parking was easy to use and the sitting out areas were perfect for morning and evening sun. Although still cool we used the swimming pool a lot in the warm weather and enjoyed it.

Obviously as we were staying for 3 weeks we did come across a few problems. There's no doubt that free wifi would have been welcome. For example we had bluetooth speakers for music but could not use it. I also spent quite a lot of time sweeping vegetation off the patios and out of the pool. The strong winds meant the a lot of vegetation from trees fell. During the last part of our stay we had the unusual experience of a week's rainfall and cold weather. Unfortunately the air conditioning heater in the main room and the guest room did not work (David tried to get the engineer out to fix it) and villa was quite cold at night. Finally we would like to have watched a film during the cold spell but could not get the DVD player to work. The disc kept rejecting.

None of these are major concerns. We have very fond memories and would love to return to Casa Portguesa again in the future.

Beautiful, quiet Location not too far from Faro

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful villa, it had all we needed to have a fun relaxing week. Close enough for a short drive to local shops or a 20 minute drive into Faro. Dave who looks after the house was very helpful land polite and only minutes up the road if you need anything. Fantastic stay thank you

Lovely holiday in the Algarve

Perfectly located, the villa is only 30 mins drive from Faro town & the airport & beaches. Yet, it's away from it all, in the countryside. So private, not overlooked, the only neighbours are the goats!

The house was very comfortable, with a well stocked kitchen, a great coffee machine, a good barbecue, and air con in all rooms. Much needed given the hot weather.

The pool was easily accessed via steps. It could have been a little cleaner, but we made much use of it. The garden is very pretty, with cacti, stone walls, and surrounded by olive trees. The views were lovely, over the hills.

We ate out in nearby Sao Bras several times. Good service, & very reasonable prices.

Having 2 teenagers, we made use of the Wi-Fi. The kanguru was excellent. The satellite tv only had news channels disappointingly.

We took the kids to Zoomarine & also Aqualand. Both approx. 30 mins drive. Our highlights included a dolphin watching boat trip from Fusetta, which was just wonderful, and a visit inland to Alcoutim, on the Spanish border.

We'd certainly recommend Uma Casa Portuguesa, and hope we might visit again one day.

Fantastic Villa with amazing views!

We recently returned from a lovely week stay at Uma Casa Portuguesa. The Villa is Clean and spacious with all amenities you could want and need. Air conditioned bedrooms are very comfortable. The Garden & Pool areas are very private with fantastic mountain views which just leave you totally relaxed!!! We would have no hesitation to return in the future. Amazing!!!! 5*

We and all our family love Estoi because of the beauty and peacefulness of the area. There are many beautiful beaches and places of interest in the neighbourhood like old Faro town and Olhao fish market. The area is easily accessible with Faro airport less than 15 minutes drive away. The climate is sunny and dry.

Special interest holidays:

New to this area are biking and walking tours in the algarvian countryside;bikes can be rented in Estoi. The ria formosa is a lovely area where all kinds of waterbirds including stiltons and flamingos can be watched. Via algarviana is a foothpath that goes from alcoutim to cabo vicente and passes through sao bras de alportel a few miles north of our villa. Visit the website on internet for more details.

Coast/Beach:

Location: 5km N of Estoi, 8km SE of Sao Bras (all facilities), 15km NE of Faro (all facilities, airport, beach). 15 min to Faro Beach. 20 min to Pedras del Rei Beach (near Tavira) . Other beaches in Sao Rafael, Praia da Falesia, Monte Gordo.

From the pier of Olhao water taxis or a passenger ferry can be taken to the idilic islands of Armona, Culatra and Farol.

Travel:

Faro airport (15km), sevilla airport (150km) car hire is essential. Try the following airlines for cheap flights: easyjet, monarch, jet2, thomson, mytravellite, xl, ba, tap, brussels airlines. A car is essential and all the major companies operate out of faro and sevilla airport. We can recommend avis or travelrent on parking 4.

Distances:

Estoi: 5km, Sao Bras: 6km, Faro: 15km, Tavira: 20km.

The historic old town of Estoi shows the Palacio do Visconde(became a Pousada) and Roman Ruins of Milreu.The market towns of Olhao and Loulé are around 15 minutes away.

Further Details:

Several supermarkets in Sao Bras de Alportel:Pingo Doce, Lidl and Intermarché. Hypermarket Jumbo in shopping centre in Faro. Several local restaurants are in an area of 10km. Daily market in Sao Bras de Alportel and Olhao, special market on Saturday in Olhao and monthly in Estoi and Moncarapacho. Market in Loulé not to be missed on Saturdays. We are just 30 minutes from the border with Spain and a wonderful drive along the River Guadiana. Estoi is famous for the Palace do Visconde (The Pink Palace) which has become a Pousada Hotel which can be visited and for the Ruins of a big Roman Villa which can be visited also. We are close to the Ria Formosa for bird spotting. This is a family owned property and over the years we have discovered many superb local restaurants. A book of recommendations is available in the villa with directions and comments. We welcome your new suggestions.
