Village House in Fornalutx With Pool And Mountain Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 29-Nov-2016
House in Fornalutx, Nr. Soller, - 2 mins Walk of Village Square, Bars and Restaurants

Casa Mia is one of four traditionally built houses within a few minutes walk from the village square. There are 5 restaurants and 3 bars/cafes within 5 minutes walk. Built in traditional Mallorcan stone, the house has been totally refurbished and provides 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms a large living/dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a small roof terrace with views to the mountains and village. From the living area there are glazed panel doors leading to a tiled terrace area with a large teak table and chairs and a private swimming pool (2.5m x 5m) There are wonderful views of the mountains and valley. Within about 10 minutes drive, at Port de Soller there are two beaches set across from each other in the bay, one of which, the Repic, is set in a pedestrian area and is therefore the quieter of the two. There are also beautiful coves at Deia and Valldemossa, both within 30 minutes drive.

About the Owner

Myself, wife and daughter lived on Mallorca for 9 months in 2003. We had a truly fabulous time, met some wonderful people, and have wonderful memories that will be with us for all our lives. The thought of heading home to UK was hell, and buying a house in the beautiful and friendly village of Fornalutx made leaving a little more bearable, giving us the feeling we still had roots in this little piece of paradise!

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The house was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean.

We made ample use of the pool, and to wake up to that beautiful view was outstanding.

Beautiful house, Stunning location

  • 5 of 5

The house was actually better than expected. Spotlessly clean, and nicely furnished. The location in the village was perfect, 5 minutes walk from the square and only a few steps to navigate(a previous year we rented way up high in the village, the walk was a killer in the summer heat)

We travelled with our teenage kids, and it was great for them and us to be able just wander into the village.

There are some good restaurants in Fornalutx, but the food in the cafes on the square just so so, unless you like ready meals. However The 1 on the corner had by far the best food (name escapes me)and at least was trying. Our favourite restaurants were Cafe Med and Es Turo

If you haven't been to Fornalutx do go as it is a very special place. You will not be disappointed with this house.

Beautiful setting, lovely house

  • 4 of 5

Lovely, clean, well equipped house in beautiful village setting. 45 min walk into Soller or there is a bus 4 times a day. Good shop in village so we did not feel we needed a car. Our only reservation is that we were a little overlooked by the car park, although it was very quiet, and very close to the 2 adjoining houses which was fine for us as we are a family, but may have put off honeymooners! Extremely helpful lady managing the property, she was wonderful. Fabulous views over mountains and orange groves, all on the doorstep.

Casa Mia - A True Gem

  • 5 of 5

This is our third visit to the Soller area, but our first staying in Fornalutx.

There were 6 of us staying including our 2 young grandchildren.

We were truly delighted with the house-we really could not have wished for more. To have your own swimming pool whilst being located so close to the centre of the village was fantastic.

It was so nice to able to take the short walk up to the square for a drink or ice cream.

The roof terrace was a nice bonus for me and my husband to escape to in early evening for a quite read.

The kids loved the pool of course(actually so did we).

Port Soller is about a 10 minute drive, and we spent some lovely time there. There are 2 beaches, and Repic was our favourite. We had a lovely fish meal at a restaurant above the port called La Luna(the lighthouse).

Fornalutx is a charming holiday location, and we cannot recommend Casa Mia enough as a place to stay.

Lovely holiday house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Casa Mia is the perfect holiday house in a beautiful location. One of a row of four, the house is compact, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are stunning views across a lush valley full of orange, lemon and olive trees to the mountains - you can truly believe you are in the Garden of Eden.

The pool, although tiny, is a great asset especially at the end of a very hot day. It is worth noting that you are in very close proximity to the neighbours though the young family of holiday-makers next door were very quiet and considerate.

The village of Fornelutx is delightful with a well-stocked Spar shop, an attractive square with two or three bars and an excellent choice of restaurants, serving a mix of modern Mediterranean food and traditional Mallorcan dishes. Although popular with tourists the village retains its own character and the local people are exceptionally friendly and pleasant.

Try roast suckling pig to die for at the family-run Ca'n Antuca or the paella on the rooftop terrace of the Santa Marta as the sun sets behind the mountains.

The area isn't great for beach-lovers but Port Soller has a very pleasant sandy beach though the resort is a little bland compared to the much more characterful inland town of Soller. The old trams that rattle through the central square give it a timeless charm, and the 1-hr train journey through the mountains to Palma is a "must". Some of the mountain roads are not for the faint-hearted but destinations such as Pollensa and Valldemossa make the heart-stopping hairpin bends worthwhile.

All in all we were delighted with Casa Mia and hope to return one day. We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings who would surely enjoy a part of Mallorca that has not been spoilt by the worst excesses of mass tourism.

Winter Break 2009

  • 4 of 5

This was our second visit to Casa MIa and we enjoyed it even more than the first time we stayed. The house is comfortably furnished and has everything required for an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. It was spotlessly clean and is ideally situated within a five minute stroll to the village square and supermarket. There are a number of restaurants to choose from and it is difficult to choose any one of them as my favourite. The local people are very friendly and helpful. There are many pleasant walks in the area. Particularly the walk into the local market town of Soller. This takes about an hour and the scenery is spectacular. If you dont have the energy to walk back you can catch the local bus for a few cents. We spent more time at the house than we had anticipated and couldnt have wished for anything more. The mountain views from the terrace are fabulous and it is an advantage having the pool. The tram from Soller takes you to the Port of Soller where you can sit beside the harbour and enjoy lunch and a glass or two of wine. We will certainly be returning to Casa Mia for another chilled out holiday.

Had a great tiem!

  • 5 of 5

My Wife, kids( 4 & 7)and mother- in- law stayed at this house in June 2008 on the recommendation of a friend. We normally stay at Pollensa, but Fornalutx is just so beautiful, and we cannot recommend it enough as a holiday location.

Our first reaction on walking into the house and out onto the patio was "wow"

The house is tastefully decorated, and everything is provided you could ask for. The views of the Tramantuna mountains are spectacular. Splashing around in the pool and looking at "that view" is truly magical.

The location cannot be faulted, being just a few minutes from the village square, restaurants and bars.

There are some lovely restaurants in the village, and we particularly liked Bella Vista a hop skip and a jump from the house. Whilst we did travel around the Island a little, this wasn't popular with the kids ,who just wanted to get back to the pool, but a drive to Valdermosa and Deya is recommended.

Soller is just a 20 minute walk away and is a bustling yet charming town & the square is a fantastic people watching location. The tram down to Port Soller is a must for the kids for a day on the beach.

If you are looking for a restful holiday in a beautiful part of Mallorca, you will not go wrong choosing Casa Mia.
