Tranquil Detached Villa on Mazarron Country Club, Costa Calida - On-Site Sports Facilities and Short Drive to Port, Beach etc

Sueno de Estrellas (Dream of Stars) is a self contained Villa situated on the Mazarron Country Club near Murcia and in the Costa Calida region of Spain. Mazarron Country Club has been developed to provide a high quality environment ideal for year round living and holidays. The club currently has a lovely, freeform communal swimming pool (open summer holiday months only, subject to a small daily charge - see Notes on Accommodation), 2 tennis courts and Petanque pitches, together with a restaurant / bar serving Tapas, meals and drinks. The Club is located close to the town of Mazarron and the Puerto (10 minutes) on Mazarron Bay, which provides plentiful retailing and restaurants and 35km of unspoilt sandy beaches (several having Blue Flag status). The sea is warm, clear and inviting and the climate is idyllic; Mazarron enjoys its own micro climate, protected by mountains and benefits from sea breezes. Changeover day is Tuesday. A separate cleaning fee and a returnable security deposit are payable in cash on arrival - please review booking notes for details.

About the Owner

We are a married couple, with two teenage children and two rescue dogs (lurchers). We live in England, near Dorking in Surrey and have been holidaying in Mazarron for nearly 10 years.

We both work and do not get as many chances as we would like to visit our Villa. As much as we like the sun, we also like the cold and tend to take a skiing holiday when we can. We started late in life however and have never been able to keep up with the children.

A Little Gem

On our arrival we found a cosy, clean villa in the middle of a country club. It's an ideal property to holiday in for getting away from it all, as the immediate surrounding area is very quiet. It's also a great base for driving out to the abundance of pretty, secluded beaches and is within an easy 20 minute drive to the shops and restaurants at Puerto de Mazzaron.

The villa has a well equipped kitchen, and we spent most evenings cooking dinner and eating outside on the veranda. We didn't get a chance to use the pool as it had closed for the winter season. However, you can always grab a drink in the country club.

We will definitely be returning for a week of sun and relaxation.

Villa Review

This is the second time we have stayed here. The villa is very well appointed and catered for our every need. A wonderful location, it was great to have such a relaxing holiday. From booking through to departure everything went very smoothly and I would recommend this villa to friends and family.

A fantastic holiday

Through Owners Direct we came in contact with the family Stone.

The contact with the family Stone was pleasant.

Upon arrival, it was found that the house was clean.

It's a complete house with all modern conveniences.

It enjoys a quiet location in the resort.

In the house is sufficient information for nice trips in the neighbourhood are several, beautiful beaches.

To culture you will need about an hour's drive away.

Beautiful cities are Cartagena, Murcia and Elche.

Cosy spot is Puerto de Mazzaron. From here you can buy a nice boat trip.

The tourist information in Puerto de Mazarron is very helpful and gives a lot of information.

In short, a fine house, fine climate and plenty to do!

In the summer holidays of 2014 we hope to visite this house again.

Very Disappointing

Mazarron Country Club is a very well kept development with easy access to all amenities. However although the villa is very well situated we were extremely disappointed with it. Not sure where to start really, from the broken sunbeds in the garden, piles of old chairs, broken and dirty outside furniture on the solarium. Nice table on the terrace but with only uncomfortable old metal kitchen chairs to sit on. Not a good first view. Inside was no better. The villa had a well equipped kitchen and white goods but the lounge seating was extremely uncomfortable, thank goodness there were only 2 of us as well with seating for just 3 people. All the furniture was old, in poor condition and just seemed to be oddments that had been put in the rooms. The bed was dreadful and had to be the most uncomfortable one we had ever slept in. However the worst thing had to be the smell from the bathroom that seemed to permeate the whole house, some days worse than others. Fortunately the weather was good and we were able to spend a lot of time outdoors. Apparently we were unlucky according to the owner as it had not happened before and I understand he plans to renew the old bed. With furniture updated and removal of all the broken chairs etc outside this could be a very pleasant place to stay.

From the Owner

Our Villa was owned by Marcus's mum (one of the first residents at MCC) until she passed away in 2003. We decided to keep it in the family because we loved the area and the Villa so much. MCC is a beautiful haven, away from the high season bustle of the coast and port area. We love Mazarron, the Puerto, the beaches,the restaurants, the mountains, the people and of course, the climate. Our children have grown up holidaying here and spending countless hours in MCC's stunning pool. Many happy memories!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Alicante at 136 Kilometres Car: recommended


Puerto de Mazarron (Mazarron Bay) is a 10 minute drive from the villa, providing attractive coastal facilities and lovely beaches. The road to Aguilas provides access to further more secluded beaches at Percheles and Calnegre, together with the protected beaches at Cabo Cope near Calabardina, all within relatively short drives.


There are many flights from UK destinations to both Alicante airport (75 miles and 75 minutes drive) and Murcia airport (40 minutes drive). Car hire is recommended and is easily arranged with a range of companies. Further information can be supplied on request.

The new Murcia International Airport is due to open within 12 months at Corvera. This will greatly increase flights to the region and improve accessibility to Mazarron.


Mazarron is the nearest town (3 miles) and provides a good range of shops, local facilities and a Saturday market. Puerto de Mazarron is a further 4 miles providing additional facilities, supermarkets, great restaurants, blue flag beaches and marina, etc and a large market on Sundays. The urbanisation at Camposol (less than 5 minutes drive) also provides shopping facilities, including supermarkets.

Further Details:

A new Paramount Theme Park for Murcia is due to be built nearby in Alhama de Murcia. The timing of the development remains uncertain. Once built, the Park will be a major international attraction for the Murcia region and it is estimated that an additional three million visitors a year will be drawn to the area.

Mazarron Country Club will provide a perfect location for holidaying families to the area, being equidistant between the site for the theme park and the beautiful coastline and beaches around Mazarron.

Changeover Day:
Tuesday is the preferred changeover day, although we can be flexible out of peak season. Arrival normally between 4pm and 10pm. For late arrivals after 10pm, our keyholders will charge an additional €20. Departures from the Villa preferred by 10am.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. A security deposit of €150 is payable on arrival, to be returned at the end of the holiday providing there is no damage or replacement/repair required. A fee of €60 for the cleaning of the Villa will also be payable on arrival. Utility costs are included, with the exception of electricity to the a/c unit which is separately metered. A €20 card is provided at the start of your holiday with further cards available for purchase.

  • Notes on accommodation: The Villa is detached and benefits from a spacious self contained plot with off street parking. The accommodation described is all on ground floor level. The Villa is very well equipped and attractively furnished, with tiled floors throughout and varnished wood doors. There is an air-conditioning / heating unit in the living room and ceiling mounted fans. The club provides various activities in addition to swimming and tennis, including a walking club, quiz nights, cookery demonstrations, petanque, bridge and Yoga. Outside: Outdoors, the plot is almost completely tiled in attractive stone, with mature trees and plants. There is a protected veranda to the front, ideal for eating, together with a side terrace and also a roof-top sun terrace. 3 outdoor tables are provided together with plenty of seats and four sun loungers. The villa is a short walk from the swimming pool (available to all in the summer holiday months for a small daily charge; €5 euros for adults and €3 for children (July 2016)) and tennis courts and occupies a peaceful location with good views. Utility Room: Outside utility area includes washing machine, sink etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels (not beach towels) are included in the price. €60 is payable on arrival for cleaning the Villa at the end of your stay.
