Lyn and myself are a retired couple with 2 daughters and two grandchildren. We have enjoyed Villa Montgo for more than 25 years now, and our Marina apartment, ref. S5, in L'Escala for 20 years. Beautiful apartment, fantastic location

A beautiful, very clean apartment in a great location, within easy walking distance of beaches, bars and restaurants (yet at the same time very quiet and private). The owners were very helpful before our holiday, as were the local managers on our arrival. L'escala was perfect for all of our family- our three year old loved it and it felt safe and welcoming - but at the same time had some great restaurants and my husband and I loved watching the sun go down from the balcony over a glass of Sangria! Our only disappointment was that we were not staying for longer!

Lovely apartment

The lovely apartment is even better than the description. Fantastic position by the marina with far reaching views over the bay and early morning sun for breakfast on the balcony. Spotlessly clean, well looked after, close to all the amenities of the town, easy parking, and everything we needed for our holiday was at the apartment. Lyn was really easy to deal with as well so the whole experience was great. The main town of L'Escala is an easy 10 mins walk, but we preferred the old town which is well worth the trip for the evening with more authentic restaurants and better prices.

Fantastic location for a family as within walking distance to a lovely beach and all the restaurants and shops. The view in the evening was wonderful watching all the boats in the marina. Lovely clean, spacious and secure apartment that made you feel very comfortable and at home.

From the Owner

After a wonderful drive over the Pyrenees(1989),we found L'Escala whilst on route to our villa at Denia(ref.S1066). At a hotel on the water's edge we looked out over the sweeping Bay of Rosas over to Rosas itself,on past to the Riells Beach,(next to the apartment),on to the harbour where the fishing boats are,then on to the yachts in their berths at Club Nautico,(which our terrace looks over). Right away we fell in love with this scene and knew then that we had discovered a bit of paradise.A year later (1990) and the mortgage was set up to buy our apartment. Since then we have discovered many delights that Catalunya offers,and can only say that it is so different from the rest of Spain you must read up on it yourselves and re-discover what the Greeks and Roman found those many years ago.

Car: not necessary


Almost at water's edge! A few minutes walk to a beautiful long safe sandy beach. Many others are nearby. The choice is yours!


45 minutes to Gerona airport. 2 hours to Barcelona airport. 1 hour to Perpignan airport. We can advise on car hire.


If driving to L'Escala from any of the cross channel ports we advise you to have a stop over in France. This is because of the better choice and availabilityof accommodation in France.

L'Escala is a town of about 5,500 inhabitants which is situated in the south of the wide and majestic Gulf of Roses. Near this town you can visit the millenium ruins of Empuries, which are some of the most picturesque and interesting places on the Costa Brava.This old fishing town has embraced the tourist industry whilst still retaining its former original traditions. It is a lively town and its magnificent beaches are ideal for young and old alike. Visit Figueres where the Dali Museum is located (24kms away). Different kinds of sports are available such as sailing, diving, water skiing, windsurfing, fishing,walking(The Pyrenees are only an hour away),etc. The reputation of this wonderful area with its own special customs and culture, offers the visitor a colourful wealth of contrasts. The restaurants and their gastronomical specialities and other attractions will ensure that you have an unforgettable holiday.

The apartment has friendly local representation to deal with any problems or advise on possible excursions. Note that for bookings in November, December, January and February an extra £12 per week is charged for electricity.

We also have a 3 bedroom villa with pool, sleeping 6, available at Denia on the Costa Blanca (please refer to reference S1066).

Saturday is our changeover day, however this can be flexible during the off peak times only.

Our waterside apartment has a stunning position on part of the Costa Brava's coastline of the Bay of Rosas.The safe sandy Riells beach is right next to the apartment,and the underground parking space is a godsend during the summer. A big asset is the balcony where one can sip a glass of wine and watch the boats come and go,the views just have to be seen! Such as the distant sometimes snowcapped Pyrenees. The Greeks founded colonies at both ends of the Bay---one at Rosas and the other at Empurias(a World Heritage Site)open to the public. They are both well worth a visit. Between lies the Emporda National Park and is a peaceful haven for many species of birds and other animals. It has over 18 acres of protected reserve with hides and skilfully blended vantage points in it's landscape.
