Delightful Courtyard Village House In Traditional White Village

Overview

Property

Updated: 28-Aug-2016
Village House in Gaucin, Andalucia - Superb Views Of The Village And Down To The Coast Of Africa

Casa San Isidoro is a tastefully renovated courtyard village house on 2 floors with terrace above, sleeping 2 to 4 comfortably (up to 5 using a sofa bed), in one of Andalucia's most attractive white villages. Gaucin, dominated by its castle and the twisting narrow streets, the white washed houses and the flower covered balconies give the village a distinctly Moorish flavour. From the lounge and terrace there are superb views down to the Mediterranean and on clear days Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of Africa are visible.

Casa San Isidoro is all it claims to be. A home from home in a charming and welcoming village perfect for exploring the local national parks, Granada, Ronda or the coast. The house is perfect for all needs, comfortable, well-equipped with a sizable kitchen. The option of sunny roof terrace or leafy courtyard covers all outside dining choices. Lots of space and, if you travel as 2 couples, it caters for ample privacy and shared living, equally. It looks exactly as the photos. My friend and I really felt at home here, I would like to return with my own family for a holiday. The whole booking process was really easy and trustworthy too, the owners couldn't have been more helpful. We booked really late in the season and the owners couldn't have been more accommodating. A really good experience all round. Lovely people, lovely place. Kevin

We had a terrific time at your house in Gaucin, one of the nicest rentals we've had in 12 years. The view from the terrace is fantastic! Nick

A great place to chill out, and well equipped.

A great location set in a beautiful village , a well maintained property, with a friendly owner. Home from home feeling. Plenty of tapas bars nearby. Splendid countryside for walking, albeit we went for a Flamenco weekend. A very comfortable stay. Good value.

Great holiday

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, the setting- Gaucin is exactly what you'd expect from an Andalucian mountain village. Clean, white, great views, Spanish! The property provided all it promised. Good location within the village, close to shops and garage, lots of room, facilities and equipment as promised. The coast is far enough away but very accessible, and the roads through the mountains are stunning.

We'll be back!

loved it!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Casa San Isodore for 4 days in April and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house was clean and well equipped, quirky and oddly laid out but that was the charm of it and what we wanted to experience - a typical Andalucian house.

The generous supply of provisions waiting for us on arrival was much appreciated.

We found the village full of interesting twists and turns with friendly locals and plenty of interesting walks.

Well recommended!

What a disappointment

  • 2 of 5

We rented Casa San Isidoro for a week starting 4th April. Although the bedding and towels were clean and the kitchen well stocked with utensils, the house hadn't been cleaned thoroughly for a while. On wiping the kitchen table the cloth was black and we had to remove cobwebs from the cieling! The surfaces in the bedroom also needed cleaning. The most important thing is that one of the bedrooms and the kitchen are accessed from outside and you have to go into the patio to get into the kitchen. That's OK in the summer but when it's raining, as it was when we were there, it's completely impractical. You couldn't even go to the kitchen without an umbrella! This isn't made clear from the property listing. We wouldn't have booked had we known as we know what the weather in Spain can be like in April. The owner mentions the BBQ twice in the listing and we would have liked to use it on the days it didn't rain but there wasn't a BBQ nor any explanation for its absence!

Owner's Response: I am very sad and disappointed for us both that you say your experience of Casa San Isidoro was not what you expected. I totally respect your right to describe your view but feel that you should have contacted me at the beginning of your stay as two out of the three things you mention could have been looked at by another person and rectified very quickly if agreed. Certainly a replacement BBQ could have been there within half an hour and any further cleaning by the next day had I been made aware. Unfortunately I cannot change the weather but I will look at the property description.
