Casa Amendoeira is a pretty 2 bedroomed air conditioned villa situated on the privately owned Quinta da Saudade, a mature development occupying 24 acres in a peaceful country setting amongst orange, almond and olive trees about 5 miles west of Albufeira. The Quinta overlooks farmland and the marshes of Pera where there is a wetlands nature reserve and the Salgados golf course is only a few minutes away. The Quinta has two swimming pools one large pool with a separate shallow end for small children and a quieter kidney shaped pool set in gardens near Casa Amendoeira. In addition there is a tennis court, mini golf, petanque, table tennis and a children's play area with its own paddling pool.Horse riding is available on site for experienced and novice riders as well as Carriage Rides for the older person. The original farmhouse has been converted into an independently run bar/restaurant open in the evenings. There is also a poolside bar that serves light meals during the day.

About the Owner

We live in Hertfordshire with our 5 year old Standard Schnauzer called Tilly. We enjoy walking with our dog especially in our local country park.

We first holidayed in Portugal in the mid eighties when our children were young, we happened to stay at the Quinta for the first time a few years later and fell in love with its unique character. We bought Casa Amendoeira in 1989 and have spent many years lovingly updating it but allowing it to remain quintessentially Portugese. We have seen our children grow up on many holidays there and have made great friends with other families who holiday at the Quinta.

Now our grandchildren are experiencing the Quinta and loving it as much as our children did. It is quite simply our home from home

Quiet hillside location easy access to attractions

This spacious 2-bed apartment is situated in a peaceful, rural, hillside location within 5 minutes drive from the local beach, in fact most of the Algarve is accessible within an hour's drive -- in the 7 days we visited we went to 7 different beaches all within easy driving from the villa. The apartment has everything you would need for a self-catering holiday, with a lovely care package waiting for us on arrival. As we did most of our planning for the next day from the apartment, it would however benefit from wifi access throughout the apartment (only the far corner of the balcony had very intermittent wifi). There are 2 beautiful and clean pools - after the day at the beach we unwound by the upper pool and basically had it to ourselves.

Great holiday, very clean beautiful villa

We had an amazing time in Guia, Quinta de Saudade was really nice, peaceful place perfect when you've had a day at the beach. The villa itself was immaculate, the cleaners were great they even washed our dirty laundry and hung it all on the line. I recommend the place to anyone with children.

Beautiful & Unique with so much to offer

I had no conception of what to expect when I arranged to stay in this apartment. As soon as the Yellowfish taxi approached the development I was amazed at the incredible views. We bumped along the cobbled roadway which is throughout and arrived at the villa.there are steep steps (with handrails)but once inside it is worth it.A compact kitchen which is well planned with everything one could need,the lounge area has two comfy sofas placed so that one can look through the windows or if it rains watch television.Two twin bedded rooms both with ensuite one with shower the other with a bath and shower facility. There is a downstairs laundry with washing line

outside the front door.There is a maid service and they help with any household request. The outside balcony is larger than one would expect with barbecue at one end and seating for five or more at the other.to say that the view is breathtaking is an understatement.

Looking to the left the sea is in the distance and to the right the stables where the horses take riders out twice a day.(if you are an accomplished rider or novice it is a facility right on the doorstep).

There is a bar and restaurant on site.the bar sells good healthy lunches and in the evening the restaurant serves fabulous meals.the bar in the restaurant,(opening times to be checked) is a lovely place to relax after a hard day of sunbathing..

Talking of sunbathing there are two pools one on the lower part of the development which is perfect for exercise and for those swimming lengths. There is cover provided and loungers.The top pool is oval and also a good size with loungers and umbrellas.Both pool areas have toilet facilities and outside showers.Both pools are surrounded by the beautifully maintained gardens with an abundance of flowering shrubs which are throughout the property.

I would like to stay again in this villa I loved it. Oh I forgot to mention the wildlife reserve area with flamingos and numerous species of birds.the walk along the boardwalk to the long sandy beach with restaurant and bar..just perfect.

I think I would advise hiring a car although the taxi service I found efficient .Also perhaps if you are elderly then you would need someone with you to negotiate the steps as there are quite a few.

As I said at the beginning this is a very unique development and you would be hard pressed to find anything so fab in this area of Portugal.Try it..you won't be disappointed!!

Fantastic

Had a fantastic time, weather was wonderful. So peaceful, gardens are beautiful, very helpful staff and horse riding on the beach to die for.

Cannot wait to go back, our villa was fantastic with everything you need and more.

Fantastic

We have spent a fantastic week in this villa. The location is close to beautiful beach, Algarve shopping center, zoomarnia etc. the location of the villa is quite and peaceful with views towards hills. Our 3 year old granddaughter loved the pool ares and playgrounds she even went horse riding everywhere is kept spotless. The villa itself is cosy and homely the terrace area is a wonderful sun trap. There is nothing negative I can say we will defantly be returning soon.

Confidence in the description of a holiday destination is vital ensure that the visitor is totally satisfied ,on arrival ,with their choise This villa and the Quinta on which it is located meet all standards portrayed in Owners Direct website and my personnel regret is that I failed to discover it many years ago. Situated on a wooded hillside in a rural valley the villa suffers none of the disadvantages of modern resorts but has easy access to all one may need.The whole scope of the Algarve .from the Spanish border to Cape St Vincent .is within easy reach while locally a superb beach and many fine restaurants such as Sao Domingo,Solar das Oliveiras ,Girasol, The Museum and numerous others are within ten miutes drive.I would not hesitate to recommend the villa to my friends in the knowledge that I can reliably expect the advertised standards will be met by the management team,Fernando and Alice and their efficient staff.I look foward to my next and fourth visit to the Quinta.

Nearest Airport : Faro at 35 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A22 at 6 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Carlos Beach at 6 Kilometres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach about two miles away (less than 5 minutes drive) has long stretches of sand bounded by dunes with a beach bar and is never crowded even in August. Further along the coast are pretty sandy coves, hidden amongst stunning Algarve rocks and cliffs, with clear rock pools to explore.

Travel:

Faro Airport is 40 minutes away. Hiring a car would be advisable.

Distances:

Zoo Marine is about 5-10 minute drive and the nearest Water Splash park is approximately 10 minutes drive. Algarve Shopping Centre with its shops, restaurants, cinemas and bowling alley is approximately 5 minutes drive from the Quinta

Further Details:

The fishing towns of Albufeira and Armacao de Pera are about ten minutes drive away with plenty of restaurants, shops, markets and nightlife. Closer to the Quinta is the old village of Guia with numerous inexpensive restaurants where chicken piri-piri is a speciality. Local amenities include golf, water skiing, windsurfing, jet ski, cycling, tennis, walking, horse riding, parascending, aqua park, swimming, bird watching, flora and fauna, sea fishing. There is also good nightlife within 5 minutes drive.

Horse riding is available on site where you can enjoy an hour or two hour ride through the beautiful countryside, sand dunes and local beach. For those less experienced riders lessons are available in the outside school. Hard hats are provided. Carriage rides can be booked for the more mature person

Casa Amendoeira has a prime position on the Quinta enjoying not only the best views but easy accessibility to all facilities whilst remaining private and tranquil. The views to Carlos Beach are unforgettable, one never tires of sitting on the terrace in the evening watching the sunset whilst enjoying a glass of wine. Often you will see the horses returning from their ride to the beach or the Shepherd returning with his herd of goats for the night.

Outside: The villa has two terraces one leading from the sitting room with table and chairs, parasol, barbecue and sun loungers and a large roof terrace, both have wonderful views across open farmland towards the sea. There are 2 private, shared swimming pools on site and a poolside bar which serves light meals. An independently run bar and restaurant is open in the evenings. Also on site is a tennis court, mini golf, petanque, table tennis and a children's play area with its own paddling pool. Utility Room: Automatic washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided including beach towels. There is a maid service 3 times a week. The towels are changed twice a week.
