About the Owner

Gary and Mick bought the property in February 2015, from the previous owners who renovated the properties from 2000 over the next few years. We live in the main house, a converted barn, so are available for help and information if you need, but will completely respect your privacy and enjoyment of your holiday.

We have been carrying out a series of improvements to the properties, including a new pool liner and other upgrades to improve your experience.

Lovely hideaway in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Great views, quiet, surrounded by sunflower fields and lovely bastide towns, the Pigeonnier does indeed make a wonderful romantic hideaway for a couple. Or you can squeeze in your teenage sons like we did and have a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable family holiday.

Tower bedroom is lovely. The covered patio makes a great living and eating area - beautiful sunsets from there and only a few short steps to the pool. Or back to the kitchen for more food and drink.

Great cycling country too. Castillones is a relaxed and friendly bastide and Monpazier, Eymet and Bergerac within easy reach.

Thanks, Keven, for great hospitality and we hope to be back soon...

Real Rural France

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect relaxing get away oozing with character, comfort and charm.

A romantic hide away, where we could have stayed for far longer than a week.

Great location, with so many historic towns and markets within short drives.

Kevin the host was incredibly helpful with local tips and anything we needed but also in helping us sort our car issues - he went above and beyond.

We'd definitely go back!

Relaxing Holiday in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks at the Pigeonnier and had a great time.It was perfect for the two of us – comfortable, clean, very well equipped accommodation, a beautiful private pool just for us, peaceful surroundings and very welcoming (but not intrusive) hosts.

When you can drag yourselves away from the terrace and the pool, it is a great area to explore. The nearby Issegeac Sunday Market is a must and there are many more pretty villages and towns to see in the area. If you want to venture further afield, Sarlat and the Marqueyssac Gardens overlooking the Dordogne River are well worth a visit, as are the Water Lily Gardens at Latour-Marliac at Le Temple sur Lot. We also enjoyed visiting the Chateau at Biron. Far too much to do in a fortnight, so we will definitely be back!

Thanks once again for your hospitality Keven.

Relaxing holiday

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at the Pigeonnier with my wife and two Children for two sunny weeks in July 2012. The accommodation is as described on the website - comfortable and well equipped.

It is very suitable as family accommodation for 2 adults+2 children. The house stayed remarkably cool during the very hot days (up to 37ºC) and the pool was a good size and was cleaned regularly. There are large lawns to the side of the house that were great for play and sports.

We spend our days relaxing by the pool or touring the beautiful French countryside with it’s pretty villages and historic buildings and gardens. The evenings were spent going for walks on the very quite rural roads, picking wild flowers after which we dined alfresco on the terrace and watched the glorious sunsets, and later the scanned the clear night skies for satellites and shooting stars.

The owners are warm and helpful and although the live nearby next to another holiday rental there is a good feeling of privacy.

There is a horse riding centre near Lougratte (20 mins drive) where English is spoken. We also canoed on the Dordogne (1 hr 30 min drive), it was a fantastic experience - very scenic and easy with the gentle river current.

Overall I would recommend this holiday home for those who want a relaxing 'away from it all' type of holiday.

Délicieuse location au pays des Bastides

  • 5 of 5
