Excellent allround

Everything about Ridgecot House met or exceeded our expectations, from the booking process to the table football, which staged many heated intra-family competitions, Thank you Tina, we would definitely like to return again in the future.

Barbados Oct 2017

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Ridgecot House in October 2017.

The Villa itself is lovely! All rooms have been decorated to a high standard with a open plan, clean feel. The Housekeeper Esther is fantastic at making us feel welcome on the island of Barbados. She was informative and friendly with a great sense of humour! The amenities are all there for your use should you require them. Just perfect! I would be more than happy to return and recommend Ridgecot House.

The location of the villa is a short 20minute walk into holetown and 2 minutes to the nearest beach which was perfect!!

Lone Star restaurant was my favourite on the island and a 5 minute walk from Ridgecot. The staff welcomed us with open arms and remembered us throughout our stay. A fantastic beachfront restaurant, perfect for a romantic meal for two! :) Although we were fortunate enough to dine at The Cliff Restaurant, I preferred being a short walk away from the Lone Star restaurant to the villa... it's far less pretentious and relaxed too.

The only disappointed we encountered was the Fairmont Beach Club was closed for 7/10 days of our stay due to an entire hotel refurbishment. Thus meaning that we had to go further afield to other beaches to enjoy the beach and watersport activities that should have been included in our stay. This was sadly not communicated to us prior to arrival or upon arrival. We only had one full day to enjoy the Fairmont Beach Club.

Once again, a huge thank you to Esther, the housekeeper/Chef who kindly cooked us for local Barbajan food at a small cost of $80BBD.

We hope to return to Barbados again next year.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, we were completely unaware of the renovations to the Fairmont Beach Club taking place in October, a matter we will be taking up with them to ensure we (and our guests) are fully informed should this occur again in the future. A partial refund has been sent to the guests affected, with our sincere apologies. Tina

Beautiful House and Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Ridgecot House. The House is beautiful and very well equipped. There were just two of us, so we had so much room. The main living space is stunning and outside dining area is a really lovely spot. The location is also perfect. It's a two minute walk to the beach, which is beautiful. The guys at the beach and beach bar were so friendly and gave the best service. Food at the Royal Pavillion Beach Bar at lunch time was excellent and such a lovely spot. We also loved JuJus, just a short walk up the beach. We hired a car for out trip, which we found really useful for shopping. The main supermarket in Holetown is currently closed as it's being rebuilt, but will be opening soon. We travelled Masseys in Warrens, which wasn't far. Masseys is great though, so the new one will probably be really good when it opens. We also used the buses to travel into Holetown for dinner. It's less than 5 minutes into Holetown and although they travel at breakneck speed, it's fun. We had dinner in the villa several nights. It's lovely to sit on the deck with candles burning and it's also lovely to swim at night. Our favourite time of day was taking a bottle of wine to the beach in the cool box to watch the sun go down. It's was just stunning. The beach and sea really are beautiful. We think our favourite beach ever! All the organisation around the trip was also excellent. Tina was incredibly helpful before the trip. Suzanne picked us up from the airport, arranged by Tina and returned us back again. We preordered groceries which were all there waiting for us. Esther keeps the house pristine and is there every day for a few hours. She also cooked us a lovely Bajan meal. We really did have a fantastic holiday. Barbados is fantastic and Ridgecot is just a gorgeous House. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful house!

  • 4 of 5

Despite the storm warning, it rained a few times and only for 15 minutes at a time. The house was exactly as described - there were 6 adults and we slept comfortably. The kitchen in stunning! Make sure to specify any spices you want, as there is a limited pantry, or bring them yourself if you want to make food at home (will be much cheaper). The pool was clean and the gardens well kept - mornings were enjoyable outside on the terrace. The location is pretty good too - the beach is a short walk across from the street with access to Fairmont's sun loungers. We ended up renting a car which made it easier to visit some of the beaches in the south that had less coral/rocks and calmer sea to swim in. Although, it was also fun in the waves.

Overall, I was happy with Tina's quick communication and helpfulness. I only spoke to Barbara once on arrival. We were told she could organize tours for us if we wanted, but we ended up going snorkelling and swimming with the turtles on our own with divebarbadosblue, which was an amazing experience! Esther is lovely and she helped to make our stay more enjoyable - especially sharing stories and experiences.

We enjoyed ourselves and would recommend Ridgecot House!

Best vacation spot ever!

  • 5 of 5

We are on our way home from Barbados and are so sad to be leaving! Ridgecot House was absolutely perfect. From the initial booking, Tina was amazing to deal with. She was prompt with her responses, offered to arrange travel arrangements on the island (we hired a car- definitely recommend if you want to do some exploring) and even arranged to have groceries waiting for us when we arrived. The property itself was even more wonderful than the photos. Esther was so friendly and kept the place spotless. Then, of course, there is the BEACH. We spent every day at the amazing beach, which is right across the street. Beautiful crystal clear blue waters were just what we needed after a long winter. There are lots of great restaurant options in the area (JuJu's and Lonestar are an easy walk on the beach, the Tides and the Beach House are a mile away in Holetown...and THE CLIFF! Expensive, but worth the splurge!). We also spend a couple nights relaxing on the wonderful patio (takeout from Just Grillin) and enjoying the pool. Already talking about when we can go back!

Fantastic Villa in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed 5th-19th May (Two couples in our 50s).

We loved our stay at Ridgecot, It was very spacious and comfortable and we felt at home from day one. The kitchen was very well equipped.

We loved getting up each morning and sitting around the large marble table on the terrace watching the various wildlife. We also got plenty of use out of the swimming pool. We used the bbq a couple of times as it made a nice change from getting ready to go out for a meal.

Tina the owner was happy to answer all our questions prior to our stay and whilst we were in the villa Esther the maid and Barbara who manages the property were available to provide answers.

We didn't bother hiring a car as we found the buses frequent and cheap to use. Within walking distant we ate a couple of times at Ju Jus Beach Bar and Lone Star Restaurant and would recommend both. We also caught buses to Holetown, Speightstown, Oistins and Mullins Beach for food/drinks in the evening and found the quality was very good. Also went by bus to Bathsheba (via Speightstown) just to see the contrast of coastlines worth a visit but pleased we choose the West Coast to stay.

Booked a fabulous catamaran trip online through Silver Moon a 5 hour trip with only 12 passengers we were so well looked after with excellent food and drink.

We don't usually got back to a holiday location twice but I would love one day to return to Barbados and would happily look at renting this villa again. I would also recommend the villa to a friend or relative.

Thank you Tina for letting your home in Barbados feel like it was our home for 2 weeks.

Ridgecot is situated on the West Coast of Barbados in the parish of St James. Holetown is 0.5 miles to the south, with banks, supermarket, a wide range of shops and some excellent restaurants (including Tides and The Beach House). The villa is just 200 yards away from one of Barbados' most beautiful stretches of white coral beach. There are no private beaches on the island so you are free to wander as far up and down the coastline as you wish.

Ridgecot guests have membership to the Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel's Beach Club, where sun loungers, umbrellas, changing facilities, showers, snack bar etc are available. The Beach Club is only a short 3 minute walk away. There is a charge of $Bds 50 each for loss of any Beach Club pass.

Ridgecot is located opposite the Fairmont Royal Pavilion, one of the best known and most luxurious hotels in the Caribbean. A range of facilities are available to you here, including shops, beauty salons, hairdresser and two excellent restaurants (try the afternoon tea!).

Next to Royal Pavilion is Juju's beach bar, a great place for casual dining and sunsets. Sun loungers are available.

A two minute walk to the north of Ridgecot is one of our favourite restaurants, Lone Star - a more fabulous setting would be difficult to find.
