This peaceful retreat nestled amongst the trees offers the best of all worlds - breath-taking views of the Ojai Valley through walls of glass, privacy and seclusion, and a five minute drive to vibrant downtown Ojai (and only 1.5 hours from Los Angeles).

From the gorgeous, one-in-a-million views of the valley to the feeling of calm that washes over you in the quiet hillside location, this retreat was built to rest your mind and restore your soul.

This charming 60s ranch home (no stairs!) contains spacious rooms and a wonderfully easy layout with almost 2000 square feet of house. Watch the gorgeous sunrise and sunsets from the two outdoor patios lining the house (and keep an eye out for the local deer that like to stop by the yard!). Or, if you feel like staying in, watch the sunsets just as easily from the large living room or sunroom/office. For those of you who want to get cozy, put a vintage LP (Dean Martin? Opera? John Denver?) on the available record player in the living room or pop a movie into the DVD player and relax. There's even an organ in the living room for those who are feeling musically inspired. For the readers in the group, the bookcase in the sunroom/office is well stocked full of books of all kinds, from fun pulp novels to political discourses on historical world leaders.

Each of the spacious bedrooms has a wonderfully calm atmosphere conducive to getting some real rest. The master bedroom has a king bed with a sliding door directly to the outdoor patio. The two guest bedrooms each have queen beds and their own overhead fans to produce a light, cool breeze should you want it.

For your meals, enjoy a luxurious breakfast from the fun breakfast area off the kitchen or, if you choose, host a formal dinner in the separate dining room. Views continue to amaze from both eating areas.

Aptly named, the view delivers

This home offers a two million dollar view. No joke, it’s downright lovely. The sun streams into the master bedroom each morning (through the sun room) and invites you to get up and watch the remainder of the sunrise. Do it. We enjoyed spending our mornings on the comfortable patio furniture. The master bedroom is delightful and bed is comfy. We worked from home while there. The Wi-Fi worked great for multiple Zoom calls at the same time. Be aware that as this is a relatively open concept home sound does travel so more than two meetings at a time sent one of us outdoors (not complaining). Communication with the owners was easy and quick. The home is generously stocked with basic supplies which was a really nice surprise - thank you! We chose this home also because of the proximity to the trails. We hiked daily. The fire roads are great if you aren’t in the mood for steep- otherwise there are great trails. We liked Cozy Dell best. If you have two cars you can drive to the trail head on Rt 33 and hike one way. Easy 10 minute drive to go fetch your car. As a simple and comfortable home in an absolutely lovely location this rental delivers as promised!

Best time at Ojai View House.

We loved our stay. The location and views were breathtaking! The house was perfect for three couples. We prepared a couple of side dishes and desserts in the kitchen to take to our Ojai family’s Thanksgiving celebration. The manager was kind enough to lend me a food processor and some other esoteric kitchen equipment that I needed. All of us loved the house’s vibe. It felt quintessentially “Ojai.” We would happily return.

Great Experience

3 couples in town for a wedding and we found the perfect place to stay. Great house, lots of natural light, amazing view. Feels far away but only 5 mins from downtown.

Time Capsule With A Spectacular View

We are hikers and lovers of a good view, and this place was well located for our needs. The house is a mid century classic ranch house, long and low, situated on the lot so there are amazing views of the Ojai Valley from every front and southwest side window. There are many options for sitting outside, we tried them all. You can’t go wrong. The inside of the house feels pretty true to 1964, the decor and furnishings fit the time. (Except for the big fluffy bed in the master.) . There was a broken door in the sun room leading to the master bedroom. We were informed of this on check in day, and a repairman was on site when we arrived. There were no safety concerns, it was an interior door, and we were only two so privacy was not an issue. We requested they wait until we departed to repair it. Lo and behold, no door there was better, because we had a great view of the sunrise from our bed. The house is well equipped, down to shampoo and hair dryer and towels . The kitchen has what you need for cooking , and there are some coffee and tea options. One issue was a clogged drain in the master tub. We let the manager know right away. We could use the other shower, so again we agreed to postpone the fix until after our departure. Back to the hiking, it’s a quick walk up to the Pratt and other trails. We really enjoyed that aspect of the location. Also, we walked down into town (and back up, quite steep!) twice and vowed we would do it EVERY DAY if we lived here. Just a few hours until checkout, we are going to enjoy every minute and plan to return to the Ojai View House.

Hi, my name is John and I've been coming to Ojai for many years now. I find the beautiful countryside mixed with local arts and culture to be unique. The short drive from LA (1.5 hours) to Ojai is also a huge benefit, making it easy for me to "get away from it all" without dealing with lots of painful traffic.

Why they chose this property

While I've been coming to Ojai for a while now, it took me a while to find the "right" house. I love this particular home because it has that amazing view while still being close to downtown Ojai. In addition, driving up the hill along this beautiful residential street (maybe the most charming street in Ojai!) always brings a smile to my face.
