About this property

Rome countryside villa with swimming pool & outside bbq and pizza oven

Villa Casperia is a charming stone country house set in a land of old olives trees.
Original terracotta floors, fireplaces, snooker table, outdoor barbecue with typical pizza wood oven and a panoramic open-air swimming pool, make this house a unique place to stay in.
From Casperia visitor can reach the Reatine valley whit is sanctuaries founded by Saint Francis, the Farfa abbey.

The Sabina, new touristic destination: Villa Casperia is located in Sabina that is an Italian territory which, not suffering the same fame as Tuscany, has remained undiscovered for centuries - even since the famous 'Rape of the Sabines'.
The Sabina is a small region in Latium, just fifty minutes northeast of Rome, at the crossroads with Tuscia of the Etruscans, Umbria, and Southern Tuscany. It is a land untouched by mass tourism, where nature is still intact. Its landscape of gentle hills is scattered with Roman ruins, medieval castles, lakes, and natural parks.
Sabina is also easily accessible: a comfortable train service connects several stations in the area to Rome and to Fiumicino international airport.
Our land is the ideal place for a quality relaxing holiday in a beautiful country setting off the beaten track, where one may enjoy the quality of life, food and a most precious and authentic sense of hospitality.

A beautiful relaxing place to spend a holiday in Italy
We loved this place. Sometimes the careful selection of photos can flatter a location, leading to disappointment later. However in this case, this villa is actually every bit as lovely as it looks on the website. We were given a very warm welcome by Elena who gave us all the advice we needed, and we were immediately delighted by the setting and the villa - both inside and outside. The villa sits in extensive grounds and is very tranquil, there are so many different places where a family can spread out and relax and then come together to dine and play. We were a large group of 7, with older children ranging from 16 to 23 in age and there was so much to do whilst staying at the villa. In addition to the generous swimming pool - the pool table, table football and table tennis table all provided extra entertainment. Our older children made a project of learning how to prepare and cook pizza in the oven and this made for an all around great and very memorable family activity. (As well as giving us added respect for those in this world that can routinely turn out perfectly even and circular pizzas.) As stated in previous reviews, it is indeed only a simple one hour drive toRome, and it made a great place to relax after a day sight seeing in the big city. (Although with the villa being so delightful we only went twice.) The nearby town of Casperia makes for a lovely afternoon or evening out stroll too, and Cantalupo is also worth a quick visit. We are certainly very pleased we found this place, and we have very good memories. Although we rarely return to the same place for a holiday, in this case we would really consider it.

Beautiful country house set among the olive groves
We were absolutely enchanted by this house and property! For us, a family of 5, it was a perfect solution to the ongoing conundrum of summer holiday travel: whether to tour or to relax. By making the villa our home base, we were able to have both. We were positioned deep in the countryside amongst hill towns, olive groves and vineyards, yet just 20 minutes from the A1 motorway and 60 minutes off-peak by car to the Colosseum. Rome can be hot and dusty in the summertime. What better way to recover from a long day of sightseeing than spending the following day by the pool and firing up the pizza oven for an evening of al fresco dining? Everything about the property was lovely. The house is tastefully decorated, very comfortable and a nice balance between rustic authenticity and modern convenience. We particularly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and outside--with the aforementioned pizza oven (give yourself lots of time to get the fire hot). Our kids (ages 9, 6, and 4) loved the toys and spent many days in the pool. The grounds are beautifully kept, and we very much enjoyed the privacy and tranquility of the property. In addition to Rome, we explored Casperia and the neighboring towns, the Abbazia di Farfa monastery, and ventured into Umbria to sample wine in Orvieto. Lorenzo was very responsive before, during and after our stay. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you are deciding between a Tuscan-style holiday and extra time in Rome, you don't have to choose. Stay at Villa Casperia and have it both ways!

A beautiful place to spend a holiday
We (2 families) spent 2 weeks in the villa and had a great stay. Everything worked well and is well kept. The house is big, kitchen is well equipped and outdoor facilities were great. We loved the pizza oven. The swimming pool was absolutely perfect and the pool area was ideal for relaxing and enjoying the landscape. The location of the house was also good - a beautiful landscape, which can be enjoyed from the pool area and close enough to Rome to make daytrips possible. We went twice and used the train and metro, which was easy - even in summer with high temperatures. Owners were very helpful and responded to phone calls and emails both before arrival and during our stay. We will absolutely recommend this house - we had a great holiday!

An extraordinary place to stay
We are very lucky to have chosen this very fabulous home in the heart of Italy (Lazio), about 70 km in the north of Rome, this summer. When we saw the villa for the first time, we fell in love with it. Everything is very nice and private and it felt like coming home for us. We are grateful that we have had the chance to stay there during our vacations. The arrival was cordial and it felt like we were friends of the family. All the equipment and the esthetical furniture in all rooms, the beds and bathrooms, the kitchen with so many lovely dishes and tableware and the garden and pool with beautiful places to relax, made us very happy and our time there was an extraordinary experience. The supermarket, bakery and restaurants in Casperia are very well organized and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful despite we were not able to have a conversation in Italian. Perhaps we will come back after studying Italian! Thank you.
