A modern gem in the midst of an old city.

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a romantic retreat in a quiet part of Venice this apartment is perfect. It is a modern gem in the midst of this old city. The furniture is stylish and very comfortable. We slept well in the king size bed and enjoyed the modern and clean bathrooms. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook a few meals. We were in Venice in December and were happy to return to a warm and cozy apartment after a day of walking in the cold. I can imagine that it will be a wonderful location to enjoy warmer weather. The apartments surround a courtyard that looks out over the water. Even in the winter it was wonderful to have breakfast in the courtyard. If we ever get back to Venice, I would stay here in a heartbeat.

Quiet, charming and very practical

  • 5 of 5

This is a stunning apartment in a quiet location but so easy to get to all the places you might want to visit. Lillian is very helpful and her directions and instructions clear and detailed. The photos don't do this lovely home justice and although the steps to the Altana are steep as described, the view and the fact that you can use this lovely outdoor space is worth the effort. It's rather like climbing into a loft or up the companionway of a boat (come down backwards!). Even if this puts you off - it shouldn't. The space outside the front of the apartment is equally charming and the whole place very easy to live in. There are several nearby restaurants used by locals and tourists - choose according to your pocket. We met with only good food and friendly service. And a good supermarket and local shops are within a quick and easy walk. The vaporetto stop is within a few minutes walk and a pass is a must. We had a seven day pass and used it a lot. I can't think of a single criticism - even the weather was kind!

What a great apartment

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Venice many times staying in hotels, B&Bs and apartments. This apartment by far the best so far. Plus, we loved Giudecca - so much more Italian than Venice but a short boat ride to the action.

The apartment is beautifully designed and appointed. I loved lying in bed looking out to the sunlight sparkling on the lagoon. We were extremely comfortable and felt safe. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the vaporetto stop and local shops. Further along the waterfront, you can buy great fresh fish, meats, cakes and bread, and pretend to be a local.

Lillian, the owner, was brilliant with information and tips before we went and there is a local housekeeper there should you need any assistance.

Absolutely, we would recommend this apartment if, like us, you savour living in comfort in real Italy, away from the crowds. Delightful!

Amazing Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is most definitely five stars! We had such a wonderful holiday in this perfectly located place. It was my first time to Venice and Lillian had provided lots of information about what to see and where to eat.

The apartment itself was spotless, stylish and extremely high spec. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed to cook a meal.

Loved sitting up on the roof terrace with a glass of bubbly looking out onto the water. Bliss!

We will be going back and my advice would be to book now!

The Best!

  • 5 of 5

It is rare to find a rental that is exactly as described and photographed. I am almost reluctant to write the review this flat deserves, as I fear that it will be booked continuously and we will never be able to rent it again! It was beyond wonderful…modern condo with a water view towards the Lido – beautiful travertine floors – very contemporary – very comfortable with a rooftop altana (although the weather did not cooperate until the last day). The flat is beautifully decorated with very interesting art and furniture.

We had the fortune to be in Venice during Carnevale - although we had not realized this at the time we booked our flight. We worried about the crowds and congestion but they were easily avoided. Giudecca (Zitelle vaporetto stop) is one or two stops from San Marco (about 5 minutes) but a world away. It was such a pleasure to leave the madness of the crowds for the calm and quiet of the island. Getting from the airport to Venice and then on to Giudecca was extremely easy. Even with a good dose of jet lag, we navigated from the vaporetto stop to the flat without a problem.

Lillian was very helpful as we managed wire transfers and the logistics of the trip. We were fortunate that our paths crossed on our last day in Venice and she and Chris were as delightful and warm in person as they were in e-mails!

More details of our trip can be found on our travel blog: www.fou-gras.blogspot.com. My advice – don’t equivocate, book now. You won’t regret it.

modern and peacefull apartment

  • 5 of 5

i can,t really add anything extra to all the previous reviews as they all reflect how well thought out this apartment is. The location is quiet and secure. The waterfront is a few steps from the entrance. The apartment itself is clean and modern with great quality fittings. I have stayed in Venice before and most places have been quite dark (due to the traditional buildings) but this is bright and airy. I found Lillian to be very efficient during the booking process and was supplied with lots of info prior to arrival..essential if you havn,t been to Venice before. I have already had plenty of queries from friends who are interested in renting the apartment themselves!

The terrace is quiet and has panoramic views over the water. Seating and canopy for shade if desired, small table. It is the perfect place to enjoy a drink after a day of sightseeing. It is possible to use the fabulous, Olympic sized swimming pool at the Cipriani Hotel nearby for a daily fee or the pool and spa at the new Hilton Stucky Hotel. There are several bars and very good local restaurants nearby and the neighbourhood is very Venetian with not many tourists. Local shops only 2 minutes away, 3 supermarkets and an excellent local fish market a 10 minute walk. The apartment has a lovely atmosphere, very relaxing and safe with lots of open space, away from the crowds but only 5 minutes from San Marco.
