About this property

Beautiful Studio In Akumal, Half Moon Bay - Wifi, AC

Situated in the center of Half Moon Bay this studio has the white sandy beach, and a natural aquarium waiting just for you. The Casita is conveniently located on the garden area of Luna Azul Condos, just a few steps away from great snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, diving or just relaxing on the palapas! With 2 queen sized beds, sleeps 4. The unit is clean and comfortable with satellite television, a private bath, and well equipped kitchen area that includes microwave, refrigerator, toaster oven, stove-top, coffee maker, and breakfast bar, as well as WiFi and free parking for guests right in front of the condo.

Half Moon Bay is a very magical, relaxing and fantastic place that will let you experience one of the most amazing gifts from nature, which is to be able to see the nesting of female turtles and the hatching of their babies. You can see a turtle lay its eggs and bury them and on the same night you can see a nest hatch right in front of you… an experience of a life time!! And all these can be witnessed just a few steps from my condo.

Casita Sur has a great central location, within walking distance you can find Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon... simply put a heaven for snorkeling! You can see turtles, parrot fishes, rays, and fascinating marine life. A unique place where the clear and salty water of the Caribbean Ocean meets with the fresh water of the Lagoon Yal-ku.

Conveniently located just a few steps away from La Buena Vida restaurant, a walking distance beach and five restaurants nearby makes this condo one of the most demanded properties for vacation in Akumal. Stay here and reconnect with nature by doing it all or doing nothing at all!

Bookings have been coming in fast! Email me now to guarantee your reservation at this beautiful spot in the Caribbean! I’m always looking forward to hosting great people.

Beautiful Casita, perfect little home that is pretty much beach front.
The casita was beautifully clean and very well maintained. It is attached to a condo complex, allowing access to the beach via a short walkway. There is no outside seating directly at the casita, but you can easily bring your coffee and breakfast to the beachfront table (common-space) to enjoy the views. On the beach, there are beach loungers and palapas for shade that can be use by guests. The beach is as pictured, but unfortunately, the beach was rampant with seaweed when we were there- this may have passed. The beach is beautiful white sand, but is rocky to walk in - definitely bring water shoes esp if you have kids. There are beautiful sunrises from this beach also. Akumal beach (national park) is an easy 15 minute walk (we had 2 small kids to slow us down) and had less seaweed and offers some good snorkelling. There are 2 small "corner stores" super close by for quick supplies. There are only 2 restaurants in walking distance, otherwise go to akumal. We did not have a car so this limited our options but was fine for our family, and we even cooked dinner at the casita. we also cooked breakfast every morning - everything provided to be a functional kitchen. Very comfortable stay! great beds, lots of pillows, netflix, wifi worked great but did kick out a few times, but only for short while. would love to stay again!

Small and cosy
Liked the casita and location...close to small shops and restaurants. A bit frustrating dealing with variable wifi but got over that. Would have liked towel set up for the 4 of us but only one night so did not go to office to ask for more. Although rocky entrance to ocean ....water calm and good snorkeling.

A little stuffy but prompt owner
Casita Sur overall has all the amenities you might need if you’re out exploring the Akumal/Tulum area. The attraction of the room when booking was the proximity to the ocean. However, we were disappointed when there were many piles of seaweed on the oceanfront for our entire trip. The room itself has a slight musty smell and the room isn’t as well ventilated. It has a well stocked kitchen with water coolers in the room which was helpful. The AC is great since the room can get stuffy otherwise. There was roku/TV access but we weren’t in the room much to use it. There was a thunderstorm one day that left a couple of puddles of water in the room. The bathroom is a little small and the entire condo would be too small for 4 people but works for 2 people. Looking back, I think there were other condos with more updated furnishings at a cheaper price that I would’ve gone for instead of Casita Sur. The owner is very prompt in responding and the maid service everyday is very thorough. The Akumal beach area has only a handful of restaurants catering more towards tourists. We crossed the bridge into Akumal town one day and the food in town is a bit better. We ended up frequenting Tulum most days to eat and enjoy after any excursions to cenotes and Mayan ruin sites.

Great location, very quiet, nice size
Great location, very close to 2 small tiendas for quick items. Close to 2 nice restaurants, and close to the beach with natural sand. Very quiet neighborhood and the air conditioner was also very quiet but effective. Housekeeping was thorough and courteous. Nice size for 2 people but is capable of 4. Management and owner are both helpful, quick to respond, pleasant. We would stay here again.

Review of Akumal and Casita Sur at Luna Azul - Spring 2018
We've come to Akumal about once every three or four years and, sadly, the quality of experience has diminished each time we visit. There's just too many people visiting now, and the impact is very noticeable - still nice, but not nearly as nice as it used to be. Akumal is still a good alternative to the party madness of Cancun and Playa Del Carmen though. If you do come, we'd recommend staying away during spring break and Easter week, as that's the busy season - again, too many people! The road to our condo from the center of town was much busier this time around, loaded with tour buses from the large resorts, and the fragile Yal Ku lagoon has been overrun with snorkelers. The beach all around Half Moon Bay was clogged with huge piles of stinky Sargasso seaweed (we may have delayed our trip if we had known about it) and there was confusion about the limited access to Akumal Bay beach, with associated political issues involving locals, the protected turtle breeding grounds, and beachfront hotel owners. We were unable to leave town one day, as the road was blocked by protesters. Our room itself has always been okay, a nice clean little room for us to stay, with reasonably good maid service and quick access to the beach. We did have intermittent issues with the internet, but we really didn't depend on it much during our stay. We like Casita Sur because it's lower cost, and it faces away from the beach so it's quiet and private. The property management group, Green Eyes, was helpful, especially for arranging to shuttle us back to the Cancun Airport.
