CHIANTI VILLA in heart of Tuscany, super-large pool, 14 ha property, sleeping 10 - Farmhouse Villa and Studio

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Dec-2016
Totally secluded, stunning sunset views, self-contained studio, pets welcome

Restored from the ruin of a typical Tuscan farmhouse Podere Scopeto sits high on a hilltop at 600 meter above sea-level (which means summer nights are just perfect outside) The Main House of Podere Scopeto sleeps 10 so with the Capanna (about 60m away from the Main House) included it is 12 all together, but there is also a small sofa/bed for a toddler in one of the bedrooms. We do have 2 more put-up cots for tinies and two old wooden high-chairs. Scopeto overlooks woods, vineyards and the medieval towns of Radda and Castellina. The nearest town is Gaiole (15 min) in the triangle of Siena, Florence and Arezzo. It is in the middle of the Gallo Nero classic wine region with Brolio, Castello Meleto, Coltibuono on your doorstep.

We have a large saltwater pool (5m x 14 m) with spacious sun terraces and pergolas which offer our guests boyant relaxation, but for the more energetic there are miles of woods and hills to walk in beyond the 30 privately owned acres surrounding the house. It has a huge BBQ with enough chairs and tables to seat 12-18 comfortably on the three terraces. More secluded hammocks and picnic places are dotted around the property under the shade of our olives and sweet chestnuts. We have reliable crystal clear water from our own well and faultless heating and plumbing system. Our bathrooms are modern and work perfectly and every bed- and bathroom has at least one anti-mosquito screen in a window. 2 fireplaces cheer our winter visitors. From the main road you drive 2 and a half km through the woods on an un-tarmaced road which is not suitable for low-slung vehicles, caravans or bikes but fine for normal cars driven slowly. We are happy to let you stay for the annual 'Eroica' traditional bike-race in October though, which takes place every year in Gaiole.

Details for holiday villa Farmhouse Villa and Studio, 6 Bedrooms, Sleeps 12, 5 Bathrooms

This old farmhouse was restored a few years ago so that it combines traditional Tuscan elements with all modern comfort, terracotta floors, wall-central-heating, perfectly working bathrooms and fire-places. The Main House sleeps 10 adults plus one toddler. The 'Capanna' about 60m away has a large living room with kitchen and seating area with cast-iron wooden stove (as well as central heating for the winter months) and sleeps a couple very comfortably in a super-large bed on the balcony above the sitting room with its on-suite bathroom with shower. All rooms are furnished with beautiful often antique furniture. Two open fire-places invite our guests to read, play, feast or watch the satellite television with a choice of DVDs and many books in German, English and Italian. The kitchen is the center of the house, with a large Lanache gas oven with 6 rings and 2 ovens and a large marble-covered island. Many terraces surround the house and are accessible through French doors.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My Response

Fantastic holiday, amazing house and setting.

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing family holiday at Scopeto. The house is super comfortable and user friendly. The setting is incredible! We played, we relaxed, we went sightseeing, we drank local wine and had the time of our lives. The pool is huge and the pool area fantastic. The BBQ and kitchen are top notch as are all the rooms. Marina was very helpful both before we booked and afterwards. We could not have been happier and will definitely go back. Tough to beat to be honest!

A wonderful stay in the heart of Chianti

  • 5 of 5

We have incredible memories from our stay in Scopeto. The house is situated in classic Tuscan countryside with amazing views in an idyllic location. We felt like film stars! The house has everything you could possibly need (and more!) and has some beautiful features. We whiled away peaceful days flopping in and out of the large pool with a backdrop of the Chianti hills and went for walks in the nearby forest. Evenings were spent sitting on the wall facing the views, sampling the delicious local wines with home cooked pizza or pasta topped with the mouth watering local produce. Our stay here will live long in our memories and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

Wundervolles Haus in idyllischer Einsamkeit

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home with magical views

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house and obviously a much loved home. The sunset views are amazing and sitting by the pool under the blooming roses with a glass of local wine, a bowl of olives and a view over the rolling hills they are grown on, is what my holiday dreams are made of. Owners very helpful. House clean and comfortable.

Great house in quiet Toscana

  • 5 of 5

An amazing house in the middle of Toscana with a fantastic view. Great swimming pool and garden as well as the inside decoration. Everything to feel like at home.

Just make sure you do not have a sport car to go to the house, but the house deserves the last 10min of forest path /way if you want to enjoy peaceful holidays.

The owners are also really helpful and friendly.

Look at the map and imagine a point in the centre of a triangle Arezzo, Siena and Florence: three great Italian Renaissance cities, their treasures, markets, restaurants, spaces and events beckon guests from Podere Scopeto. Nearer at hand, the great houses of our area hold frequent concerts, the markets towns, gems like Radda, Volpaia, Castellina, Greve offer their summer festas, wineries with their world-famous labels invite you to sample their wine and new olive oil . Hikers, bicyclists and horse riders can make their own way along the high level paths and rides of the Chianti hills savouring the pine scented breezes. As one of our guests said last year: 'We have been in paradise'.

Other Activities: wine tasting and gastronomy.
