About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6-8, a/c bedrooms

Villa Ra is set on the side of a green and peaceful valley with lovely sea and hill views in the quiet, exclusive San Jaime area, 5 mins walk from the Club de Golf Ifach with its tennis courts, bars, restaurant, pool and breath-taking views and just a few minutes drive from the lovely beaches, Marina and Old Town of Moraira itself.

The very private pool (1m shallow end) is not overlooked and is particularly magical at night with pretty poolside and terrace lighting. There is an open-plan living area with a fully equipped modern open-plan kitchen, a large glazed naya (sun room) and a sitting room (with UK satellite 'free-to-air' TV or German TV). Also on the ground floor is bedroom 3 with adjacent modern shower-room. Upstairs are two further bedrooms and a stylish family bathroom. The master bedroom has a balcony with those superb views over the sea, hills and pool terrace. Outside there is a shady area with built-in barbecue and steps down to the orchard garden. A best supermarket in the area is close by and there are a few bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Resort area: Green countryside dotted with individual white-washed villas, shady pine woods, citrus groves and vine terracing make a pretty and relaxing setting away from the package tour crowds.

Moraira is an attractive resort which retains its local charm. There are 2 safe, sandy beaches with beach-bars, and numerous little rocky coves (calas) up and down the coast. The town has grown from a small fishing village into an attractive high-quality holiday resort whilst managing to hold onto much of its authenticity . . . partly due to the busy local fish market with catches brought in fresh each day by the fishing fleet . . . if you like fish you will love Moraira! There is an abundance of restaurants, bars and smart little shops which crowd around the harbour and popular marina and then meander on down the coast road.

San Jaime is on the borders of Moraira, and a little outside Town - but only a couple of minutes - and, whilst benefiting from a peaceful location, it also has the best Supermarket in the area.

Local attractions and activities: The beautiful 9-hole Moraira golf-course with poolside bar/restaurant and magical views down to the sea is open to non-members and is within walking distance of the villa, with the popular 18-hole course at Jesus Pobre and the 9-hole course at Javea about 15 minutes away by car. Nearby are tennis courts, squash, water sports, boat hire and trips, horse-riding and go-kart racing. A little further away are the coastal resorts of Javea (15-20 mins. by car) with its beautiful sandy horse-shoe bay bordered by beach bars and restaurants, Denia with its long, sandy beach and pretty Calpe in the other direction. The local wine-making area of the Jalon valley, surrounded by mountains is also about 20 mins. drive away, and from here you can venture further into the spectacular mountain scenery - perfect for those who enjoy walking, cycling or climbing. Moraira is only 45 minutes drive from the livelier Benidorm which is close to Terra Mitica (a Disney style theme park) and Aqualandia Water Park

Suitability: Pets will be considered on an individual basis - but we'll do our best to help.

Steps from street level to pool terrace may make it unsuitable for those with impaired mobility.

We are happy to accept CONSIDERATE smokers and request that you do so only when outside.

The villa has hot or cold a/c in the 3 bedrooms and central heating radiators to all main areas, so is warm and comfortable in Winter and cool in summer, and the glazed naya makes the most of the winter sun. Unlike some seaside towns, most of Moraira and nearby Javea's bars and restaurants remain open all year round to welcome the visitors who enjoy the temperate climate of the Costa Blanca. Winter in this area is generally sunny and pleasant. There are a few days where the rain falls, helping to keep the countryside green and fertile, but there are also days where, despite the calendar, you may well be able to get those shorts out and even go for a swim.

The villa now has free Wi-Fi Internet connection for guests wishing to use their laptops or tablets.

About James Morris

My late wife and I enjoyed many family holidays in the area with friends and eventually we bought Villa Ra between us. Every year we upgraded and improved the villa to what you see today. In 2016 I was pleased to become the sole owner of Villa Ra.

James Morris purchased this villa in 2001

Why James Morris chose San Jaime

When we first viewed Villa Ra we entered, as you must, through a street door and down step to the pool terrace. We were all hooked by Villa Ra before we even entered the villa, such was the magical feel and the open green views that we all experienced.

What makes this villa unique

It's perfect! The naya (sun room) faces south, as does the pool terrace. So both are always sunny. In winter when those in nearby villas have headed inside as the shade reaches them, Villa Ra is still sunny and warm.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'Dear Patricia, just a quick note to thank you for the impeccable arrangements at Villa Ra, we had a wonderfully relaxing break in the peace and tranquility. Your villa was beautifully presented and immaculately clean, we were totally impressed with the many thoughtful touches you have applied. Moraira is a delightful village and Pepes cake counter received our special attention! Thanks also for the bottle of red which we enjoyed on arrival. We will be contacting you soon about availability for next year. Thanks again, Harry and Sue'

'We had a great time thank you, the villa has a great feel to it and certainly lives up to its name, it really has a great aspect we had sunshine until 8 pm every night! Sharon.'

The villa has sunbeds and parasols, and electrically operated awnings shade the naya and adjoining terrace. Two sets of doors lead from the Naya onto both Pool Terrace and Dining Patio, with further double doors onto the Patio from the Sitting Room. With all doors open the villa benefits from cooling hillside breezes and, whilst bedrooms and shower room have mosquito netting, Villa Ra doesn't have much trouble with these nuisances. This is a walled villa with entry-phone system and burglar bars. There is secure off-road parking (in winter)for one vehicle plus street parking. A travel cot can be made available by prior arrangement for a small sum. The pool is 8m x 4m with a 1m shallow end and Roman steps. Washing machine, drying and ironing facilities, are housed in a separate utility room. As well as a CD Player and Satellite TV with DVD Player, we have an extensive collection of DVD titles and CD albums for your enjoyment.

Simply Superb

  • 5 of 5

A superbly equipped villa located in a pleasantly quiet area away from main roads. We were pleasantly surprised by the amenities available locally and also the way the villa was so well maintained by James, its friendly and personable owner, who took care of the pool and any other matters that needed attending to.

There is a lockable, sun-screened parking area that is hidden from view.

Another car or two can be safely parked on the road outside the villa.

The kitchen is very well equipped with just about everything you are likely to need and is very clean and easy to maintain.

We had plenty of storage space for luggage and all of our clothes and loads of other things that we took along.

Unlike so many other villas, Villa Ra is bright and light inside with a pool that is not overlooked, so privacy is there if you want it.

We had several visitors whilst we there during our three month stay and there was plenty of seating and equipment to make their visits pleasant and comfortable. They were all impressed and amazed by Villa Ra, so it was not just us! It was easy to feel at home very quickly and we really enjoyed our stay.

Of special delight for us was the way the sun bathed the pool area and sun lounge from early morning until late evening making mealtimes on the terrace just perfect, even in February!

Moraira is definitely not Benidorm! It is a wonderfully slow and easy going town with a multi-national community full of restaurants that can provide a brilliant English breakfast right up to top end dining you would expect to find in major cities across Europe and further afield.

Locally there are markets in several towns including Moraira that are well worth a visit. The culture scene is active in the local and Valenciennes region with many festivals, parades, theatre and music concerts to enjoy.

For nights in, the satellite TV has plenty to watch and the 4G internet connection is fast and reliable.

We would happily go back, but unfortunately in 2018 the first few weeks we would have wanted for a prolonged stay were already booked.

Owner's Response: Hi Ian, Thanks for your great review! Having stayed at some pretty grotty villas ourselves over the years, when we bought ours we decided that it would be different and that guests wouldn't be disappointed. We've operated a simply philosophy – every year we invest to update and improve – and Villa Ra is better now than it’s ever been! That’s why we get a very full bookings calendar and have numerous guests who return again and again. ATB James

Villa RA

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this lovely villa twice now, and would highly recommend it. The villa is set in a very relaxing quiet area near Moraira, with lovely views, of the sea and hills. It is very well equipped, with everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. The owner Judy, is a lovely lady, and has been very helpful sending us the keys and directions, which were really easy to follow. There are a few bars and restaurants you can walk to, which are all friendly, or you can drive to the gorgeous town of Moraira, which is about 5 minutes away by car, for lots more restaurants and bars. We have enjoyed our 2 stays in the villa so much, we are hoping to book again this year.

Villa Ra - summer 2015

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable and relaxing week. Villa is located in a very peaceful area with nice views of the sea and Moraira hillside. Property is well equipped and well maintained including the pool which was spotless and very inviting. Easy reach by car to local shops, Moraira and Calpe. Would be happy to come here again.

Many thanks Judy and James.

Summer 2012 stay at Villa Ra

  • 5 of 5

Great 2 weeks at Villa Ra. Everything was as described, great pool which got the sun all day, with plenty of sun lounges. Villa Ra was spotlessly clean and well maintained, James came to change linen and clean the pool on a few occasions. Good location in a quiet residential area, near to local golf club and a short drive to supermarket and some great restaurants. Moraira town is just 5/10 min drive away with its beautiful beach and great choice of restaurants so I recommend a car but taxis are available too.

Great communication with owner Judy, who was very accommodating to our needs, and flexible with our dates.

I highly recommend this property, our party included a 70 year old and a 3 year old, and the villa was very private, safe and secure for all.

Villa Ra

  • 5 of 5

Well where can one begin, Villa Ra is without doubt the very best villa I have stayed in, in the past 13 years, not only is she very pretty, she is very accommodating, being clean and spacious. The pool was sumptuous, clean and bright!

The owners provided a great service forwarding all the details from airport to the villa and we arrived in good time.

We cannot recommend this villa enough and I for one shall book this villa again.

Moraira is my very most favourite place with plenty of beaches bars and eating places. If you like to eat food better than burgers and chips then the square or the marina area is for you. Chamizo has now become my favourite, set on the beach over looking the bay of Moraira and the food is top notch, table 20 is the best.

Try Algas for the best cocktails, set on the stony beach, its views looking across the bay and Med offers the best ambiance in the world.

I for one cannot find anything wrong with Moraira apart from the fact I cannot visit it enough.

Moraira is situated on the Costa Blanca, an hours drive from both Alicante and Valencia airports, between the larger centres of Javea and Calpe. Described as The Millionaires' Playground, Moraira in fact has something for everyone - peace and tranquillity, beautiful mountain scenery, clean sandy beaches with good facilities & small bars serving cooling drinks, a lively & interesting nightlife with Tapas Bars and restaurants - some smart, plenty that are more down-to-earth, and many featuring fish dishes, especially in the port area, a couple of discos, the atmospheric Old Town area, lots of shops filled with local wares and curiosities, a weekly market...Then of course there's the Marina, with all those wonderful boats ... and don't forget the local people - who must rank amongst the friendliest in the world. SHOPS, BARS AND RESTAURANTS ARE OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND, WHICH MAKES IT AN IDEAL PLACE FOR AN OUT OF SEASON BREAK.
