Overview

About the property

Truly your home away from home

This 3000+ square foot, four-bedroom home on two acres features lots of bright, airy living space.

Located across the road from a real working farm, you can enjoy watching the goat kids and lambs play in the barnyard. All guests can choose to take a free farm tour and meet the animals. (Please note that animals in the pictures do not reside on the rental property!)

This is a pet and family friendly home about 5 minutes from Lake on the Mountain and the Glenora Ferry (to Kingston). On the Taste & Arts Trails, close to Waupoos wineries, marina & County Cider and a short hop into Picton. We are about 25 minutes from the world-famous Sandbanks and provide a Parks pass for all guests to use. That entitles you to free daily admission to Sandbanks and North Beach Provincial Parks (one vehicle).

A large living room with comfortable seating, a propane fireplace and satellite TV. There is also a generous eat-in kitchen with all the modern conveniences (including a dishwasher and a wine fridge). The formal dining room easily seats 8 and the library offers a quiet retreat for reading or even an afternoon nap. The ground floor also features a washroom with shower.

The incredible master bedroom suite includes a massive bedroom with a king bed, fireplace, TV with DVD player, private library and private deck. There are three additional generous bedrooms (one with a queen, one with a double bed and one with a twin bed) each with individually controlled heat. The upstairs washroom features a large soaker tub and second floor washer and dryer. Of course, there's also plenty of room on the clotheslines.

Outside, you'll find a BBQ and a patio set just off the kitchen and a firebowl in the backyard. The house also features an (almost) wrap-around porch so you can grab one of the Muskoka chairs and enjoy the shade all day long.

The property also contains an old one-room schoolhouse which offers a wonderful space for events and weddings. The house is approximately 500 square feet with large period windows. A local landmark and beautiful space for a special day, this space can be rented - please contact us for details.

About Judith Burfoot

Judith and Graeme and our two children left Toronto in 2009 to pursue our dream of small-scale farming. We have visited The County since we were children and have always loved this amazing part of Canada. We truly understand how precious a break from city life can be and proudly offer all of our guests a free farm tour.

Judith Burfoot purchased this farmhouse in 2014

Why Judith Burfoot chose Prince Edward

We purchased this house in 2014. It is the original farmhouse to our farm, located across the street, and it feels wonderful to put the farm and the Farmhouse back together. If we could have built a perfect house, it would have been the Farmhouse. From it's beautiful tin ceilings and wrap-around porch to its fireplaces and private library, it is a marvelous home. It was beautifully restored and contains lovely period details but above all it is a comfortable, warm home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful, well-equipped and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

A spacious and elegant house with modern amenities in a tranquil setting. Huge selection of books. Very comfortable beds and lovely linens. Helpful and friendly owner who offers tours of the farm across the street and offers fresh eggs. Easy access to ferry and the town of Picton and a pleasant drive to the provincial park beaches.

Genuine Country Holiday

  • 4 of 5

My Spouse and I rented this spacious farmhouse along with my brother, sister-in-law and their two kids. Prince Edward offered a unique entertainment both fitting for kids with the various parks and shopping as well as a great adult experience with the vineyards (vineyards also kid friendly by the way). The farmhouse itself is well suited to provide a private escape for everyone as is quite large. No doubt a restful and relaxing space. It was a real treat to have fresh eggs from the farm across the street... nice touch for morning breakfast! Highly recommend for your own holiday.

Spacious, well-equipped, very clean farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

The farmhouse is exactly as described in the website listing. We had an excellent weekend away with the family and dog. Beds were comfortable, BBQ functional and nicely equipped kitchen. Looking forward to booking again, hopefully without the three days of constant rain.

A Lovely, Quiet Visit

  • 4 of 5

We six adults totally enjoyed our weekend at the Farmhouse. The kitchen was perfect for shared meals ( a barn cat would like to have joined us more often, but had to wait for us to emerge to make a fuss of it). The bedrooms were comfortable with little noise from the nearby road, so we slept like logs. The cushioned chairs on the wrap around porch were a popular choice for coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon. We hope to return to enjoy Judith and Graeme's hospitality soon.
