Toccoa River Valley Retreat - with the cool river breeze drifting through the forest, and a hot tub that seems to float in the trees. The mighty Toccoa River flows by in the small valley below where your private dock awaits your visit. What could be more relaxing than our exclusive Couple's Retreat on the Toccoa River?

Prior to the full description of this cabin, we want our future guests to know that we are taking extra precautions! Our EXCELLENT cleaner spend 3-4+ hours between guests, during which time they allow fresh air to penetrate the space. When there is a same day check-out/check-in, they do an extra wipe down and sanitize all touchable surfaces. She sprays disinfectant on anything she can't deep clean, such as upholstered furniture, decorative pillows, etc. so the cabin is fully sanitized upon your arrival.

Bring your fishing equipment and enjoy a wonderful day on your private section of the river!! Whether you are here for the famed Toccoa River trout fishing, hiking and sight-seeing in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, or a romantic weekend getaway, River Valley Retreat is your dream vacation spot. Located on the banks of the Toccoa River, across from the Toccoa Heights area, River Valley Retreat is only 15 minutes from Downtown Blue Ridge, 20 minutes from Aska Adventure Area and 30 minutes from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

A true retreat, this renovated (2015 & 2022) rustic cabin sits upon a scenic hillside with beautiful views of the neighboring mountains and the Toccoa River. The magnificent mountain pine log covered deck is perfect for a relaxing evening in a rocking chair, or in the hot tub taking in the majestic scenery of the North Georgia mountains. The three acre property also includes a private dock with direct access to the river and a one acre riverside meadow, perfect for picnicking. It also includes a shared fire pit for relaxing and roasting marshmallows in the evening.

Upon entering the cabin, you are greeted by a western motif entryway and dining area with a pass-through to the kitchen. The artwork features a passion for an equestrian lifestyle in the mountains, in calming blues and greens, accented by unique mountain décor. The main living area features new furniture (2022) - a plush couch , a big comfy lounge chair with a leather topped ottoman and luxurious throw pillows, - TV with cable, including the sports channels, and a DVD player. For cooler seasons, there’s a real wood burning stove, perfect for curling up to for a romantic evening, or just exchanging fishing stories from your day on the river. The adjacent kitchen features a granite countertop, beautiful natural hickory cabinetry, Keurig coffee maker, and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. A full sized laundry room provides all of the convenience and comforts of home. The landscaped back yard comes complete with a gas grill and picnic table.

The main bath boasts a one of a kind barn board tub and shower. Rustic cabinets, granite countertop, pewter finish faucets, and rough sawn wood trim finish off this equestrian country bathroom. The Master bedroom features a luxurious high headboard bed with a pillowtop, Gatsby mattress. The suite includes a large closet and an additional half bath. We raised the ceiling, added some rustic trim and a little bling for an enhanced romantic vibe. New Smart TV and new linens package rounds out our new bedroom!(2022)

The lower Toccoa River has earned a reputation among anglers as one of the best trout rivers in north Georgia...It's long, deep pools separated by rocky shoals make the flow perfect for both trout fishing and floating. Due to its relatively large size, it is a favored water for fly-fishing enthusiasts, and in 2015 it was designated by the DNR as a year round trout river. It is stocked weekly from April through July 4th, and twice monthly thereafter. You’ll be pulling out mostly rainbow trout, but there are also large numbers of brown trout and a small population of brook trout.

Area activities include fishing, tubing, kayaking, trail rides, Harrah’s Valley River Casino, hiking, bird watching, fall leaf viewing, fine dining, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, and zip lining. All within approximately 30 minutes or less.

Lastly, we are a NO PETS/ NO SMOKING property!! No exceptions!! We pride ourselves on delivering a very clean and allergy free home to all of our guests!

Per VRBO Disclosure Policies: For the safety of our guests and our property, security cameras are located on the EXTERIOR of this property! Our front camera covers the driveway area and the first couple of steps. The rear camera covers the back porch and surrounding area.

Great birthday trip
This place was fabulous. Cozy and intimate, perfect for myself and my boyfriend. It was cold for two of the four nights we spent so the hot tub was a must! I did think the cabin was on the river but it is acrisply across the road. Not a big deal and actually the walk to and from was very pleasant. Saw plenty deer, groundhogs, all sorts of birds, and the friendly Pyrenees from down the road. Host Ellen was very quick in response time and overall it was a great stay.

Amazing!
My husband and I stayed here for my 40th birthday. It was an amazing weekend. The cabin itself is perfect. It had everything we needed. We never even had to leave the house if we didn’t want to. The views in every direction are gorgeous. The hot tub on the front deck was the highlight of my weekend. It was perfect. the only one recommendation I have is if you’re planning on staying for a few days, bring your own shampoo and conditioner.

Clean and private
We REALLY enjoyed our honeymoon here. It was clean, relaxed, and very private. We left at the end of our stay reluctantly. We plan to visit again. Ellen and Dan are great hosts!

Southern Hospitality is not dead!
The home (not house... I say home on purpose here) is very comfortable. The furniture throughout the house is very comfortable and perfect for a quick getaway. I had made a call ahead of time to make sure the jacuzzi worked, and was assured that it did. When we arrived we discovered that one of the jets had gone rogue and was spewing water out. We reached out to the property owner and had someone there the next morning to look into it. It was one of those rare situations in home rental that was just an honest miss. The home owner was very responsive and easy to get in touch with, and at every turn made efforts to make us feel at home. Even went as far as to warn us of an impending incoming snow fall and give us tips on when to travel to avoid dangerous road conditions. We're hopeful to stay here again, as hospitality is our biggest plus when traveling and the home owner scored 100% on that front. Thank you!

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property in 2014 and completely renovated it in 2015, and updated it again in early 2022 - all with the vacation rental market in mind. The log front porch with cedar siding was created to add significant curb appeal from the road and an amazing place to spend the majority of your vacation. We could sit out there for hours, sipping some wine, eating some cheese and crackers, and lounging in the hot tub.

This property has the perfect mix of amenities and location! The Toccoa River is amazing - so clean and refreshing when it's hot out! The fishing is incredible and we are located at a part in the river where it is wide, with a few deep pockets for fish, and privately owned, so it is not fished as heavily as other sections of the river. On hot day, sitting on the dock, dipping our toes in the water or maybe venturing out on a tubing ride - it's heavenly!

What makes this property unique

It's rare to find a property this large - 3 acres - and this beautiful - within minutes of all kinds of mountain attractions. Blue Ridge is 15 minutes away and has some of the best restaurants and dining options you'll find any where, including a much larger city. We love Harvest on Main,, and Black Sheep for better fare, but the little advertised Masseria (owned by same restaurateur as Harvest), is a gem for a fraction of the price. Also love La Pizzeria in Morganton. Take time out for yourself and walk the amazing shops on W. Main Street. You'll find unique gifts for any occasion and it's easy to stock up for the Holiday Season, even when it's July.

For a quick grocery run, Copper Hill/ McCaysville has a great little IGA about 4 miles away. We also love Rolling Thunder tubing company and browsing some of the shops can also be a nice past time.

Murphy, NC is located about 30 minutes away, including the new Harrah's Valley River Casino. Great for a rainy day past time.
