Overview

Description

Pichoutou

Perhaps the oldest farmhouse in Boussagou. It is named after the farmer who was born there. He enlightened us with the history of the farm and hamlet. The house has many original features including a stone sink and large open fireplace. But don’t worry, it does come with a modern fitted kitchen too including cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine.

Downstairs there is a spacious lounge with satellite TV with UK freeview channels, DVD player and Hi-Fi. This leads into a fully fitted kitchen diner. There is also a downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin and bathroom with shower and toilet. There are beamed ceilings throughout.

Pichoutou has private gardens overlooking our fields and woods. The terrace area includes a barbeque and patio furniture where you can relax and watch the sun go down.

About the property

Boussagou

Boussagou is a small hamlet comprising three stone farmhouses and five barns. It nestles in twenty acres of pasture including a large walnut grove. It is surrounded by beautiful forests providing endless tracks for walking, riding and mountain biking (bikes provided Free of Charge). But if that sounds too energetic then relax around the 12 x 5 metre heated & floodlit pool until the sun goes down.

A play area in the garden includes a climbing frame, swings, slide and a trampoline. There is also an indoor games room with table tennis, table football, darts and other activities to suit all ages. We can also offer a babysitting service, if you would like the opportunity to dine out without the children!

Each House is equipped with Satellite T.V. DVD player, Hi-Fi and wireless broadband.

Cozy and comfortable property exactly as described

  • 5 of 5

We spent an incredible 2 weeks at Boussagou this summer where Bernie and Ken made us feel incredibly welcome and relaxed. The gite was perfect for us, exactly as expected from the photographs, well maintained and containing everything we needed. Our son adored helping feed the animals and checking for eggs from Suzy the chicken; the addition of dress up items, the play area and mountain bikes also made his stay particularly enjoyable. We enjoyed exploring the local Bastide towns (Rocamodour, Sarlat, Chateau Castellnaud to name a few) and kayaking down the Dordogne. The remainder of our time was spent relaxing at the gite and using the lovely pool. Bernie and Ken kindly invited us along to a Night Market with friends which was excellent; good company, food and wine! This was a truly fabulous 2 weeks - we could not have asked for more and we will certainly be back again. Thanks Bernie and Ken x

Idyllic gite in the most peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly what we were expecting from the photograph and information. We had the most relaxing and comfortable week in Pichoutou and would definitely recommend. We visited the caves at Domme and enjoyed a morning wandering around the bastide village of Monpazier. The remainder of the week was spent relaxing at the property. We will be back!

A lovely gite with a great facilities

  • 5 of 5

A cozy farmhouse with a lovely farmhouse kitchen, spacious lounge with satelite TV and music centre. Plenty of space for a family of four. The private patio at the rear of the property was secluded and a great sun trap with a wonderful rural view. The property was well maintained and Ken and Bernie (the owners) who live in the hamlet are always at hand to give ideas as to places to go and things to do. The pool was great and we enjoyed using the bikes provided as well as the table tennis in the sports barn. The hamlet is quiet and idyllic but not too remote as most of the sites of the Dordogne and Lot are within a 40 minute drive away e.g Sarlat, Domme, Castelnaud. I would certainly recommend this accomodation to a friend or relative and can't wait until next summer when we plan to return.

Only minutes from the property are the two picturesque villages of Marminiac and Cazals where you can buy your fresh croissants and baguettes. Haggle at the Sunday market (not to be missed) offering all sorts of fresh local produce and other goodies. There are local restaurants and bars, a Casino (minimarket, not gambling establishment!) providing everything you might need, plus butchers, wine shop, hairdressers and even a museum. There is also a lake with a beach at Cazals.

The surrounding area offers a huge selection of dining experiences. Boussagou is perfectly placed for access to all of the most beautiful sites in the Dordogne and the Lot. There are numerous chateaux to visit, caves to explore and pretty market towns to meander through. There is also a wide range of outdoor activities, for all ages, close by, such as canoeing. cycling, fishing, horse-riding, golf, vineyards.
