About this property

Our cabin is nestled between the beautiful Shenandoah River and the Massanutten Mountains. The Shenandoah National Park is only 20 minutes away and provides beautiful mountain/ valley scenery and amazing views that will give memories for a lifetime. The Shenandoah National Park also features many walking, hiking, and bicycle trails. The famous Luray Caverns is within a 10 mile drive and is ready to be explored by those that have yet to witness its natural beauty. There are many other attractions and amenities to experience in our quaint little town. The town is located just south of the property (approximately 7 miles). There you will experience locally owned businesses and some amazing restaurants. Our private river access is a perfect fit for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, or just someone looking for beautiful views. Want to beat the heat or cold? This property offers a rural setting with amazing views and is equipped with central air and heat for those rainy days. This cabin features a master bedroom with sliding glass doors that allows you access to the wrap around deck. The kitchen area has an open floor plan and includes an LP gas rock fireplace. The kitchen in the cabin does not include a stove top oven but does provide a convection oven.

Cozy cabin nice location

Stayed with my husband and 9yo. We had a great time fishing, bird watching and making s’mores by the campfire. Recommend this cabin; also found it spacious for my family of 3. I’d love to come back in the warmer months to get in the river! The river water was beautiful. The cabin is well equipped, good layout and clean. The drive to town is easy. We enjoyed Gathering Grounds for breakfast in town and the caverns! Only thing I recommend is to bring towels and believe compact suv or crossover for the road down to the cabin is best; its a bit bumpy and part of the road is slightly steep. Not too bad, but not sure if cars will do well. Cell phone service is decent 1-2 bars for me on att. Overall the cabin is great and recommended!

Wonderful winter weekend

The cabin was so lovely! We made some fresh pasta and got out a bit to hike and explore the area. The river was beautiful and it was a fun way to get out of the city.

Nice Getaway

We had a great time at Above the River's Edge Cabin. The location is quiet and perfect for relaxing. It's close enough to the park for day hikes and a great option if you're looking to stay near Shenandoah National Park. The cabin was clean and well taken care of.

Great weekend getaway

Our family of 4 had the best weekend escape from Northern VA. River access is great and beds are super comfy. Hot tub was great after a day of hiking.

Our cabin is owned by family. The owner and her sister were pictured while on one of the beautiful hikes in the Shenandoah National Park. We are lucky enough to live in Luray which is perfectly located right in the middle of all the beauty. We definitely take advantage of all the hiking and kayaking our small town has to offer so be sure to do the same on your visit.

Why they chose this property

We want our guest to see what mother nature has to offer inside and out. Each piece of wood was hand selected from the trees in the Shenandoah Valley and our cabin was built with love. It has so much character and uniqueness about itself that you will be amazed at its true beauty. You can enjoy your time inside the cabin or outside around the fire pit and picnic area or on the river bank. You may also want to spend some time in the hot tub to just relax!! Its a fabulous place to just get away and make memories that will last a lifetime. If you are into hiking or taking scenic drives, we are located 20 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park. Feel free to take a dip in the Shenandoah River or take a trip kayaking/canoeing. Also we are located 10 minutes from Luray Caverns.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin was built in 2015 and is made of cedar and yellow & white pine with hickory cabinets. Each tree was hand selected and cut down by us (owners) from different locations among the Shenandoah Valley. The beams along the fire place and overhead came from a barn in the Valley that is over 150 years old. We reclaimed the beams and wood to make the mantel and fireplace. How beautiful and characteristic the wood truly is!! A lot of time and love has been put into this cabin to welcome our guests and everyone who walks through our doors to enjoy the beauty of mother nature. We ask that our cabin is treated with care as we have done!! We hope all of our guest will enjoy the cabin and come back to see us year after year!
