About the property

Casa Beni perches on its own 'infinity' platform on the very edge of the lovely white-washed village of Canillas de Aceituno. The villa has three bedrooms en-suite and is beautifully decorated throughout having spacious accommodation for 6 to 8 people. The main open-plan living space includes a fully equipped modern kitchen, large dining table, big sofas and a wood-burning fire. There is a large covered terrace just outside the living room with a mosaic table for 10. There are also various other seating areas around the property and a large gas BBQ. The 8m x 4m swimming pool is set on its own gated terrace below the villa. There are 8 sun-loungers which are light enough to be moved around to the different terraces and large parasols to block out the mid-day sun.

The wonderful thing about Casa Beni is that you can walk to the centre of the village in 5 minutes and yet sitting on the terrace in the evening, listening to the crickets, one feels as if one is in the deep countryside.

Round and About: Canillas is a wonderfully friendly hospitable village with about 3 restaurants and lots of bars. You can do all your shopping up here as there are several greengrocers, a couple of butchers, a chemist and 3 banks. One can buy fish from the van that visits almost every day.

A 20 minute drive takes you down to an enormous supermarket, Eroski, and an outlet centre which has all the best shops in it and also a cinema. There is also an Aqua Park. There is a tennis court in the village but not Wimbledon standard! Also a large public pool and restaurant which is quite a good meeting place. Riding and hiking all over the country side and up into the Sierra Tejada National Park which borders Casa Beni. Mountain biking is also fantastic from here but one needs to be fit!

Malaga provides so many things to see and do - remember that this was Picasso's birth place so there are lots of art galleries and museums.

Spectacular views, white houses on dark hillsides, Mediterranean sunshine, street markets, chiringuito lunches and rioja dinners. It is more that 15 years since I was last in Malaga..... My God what a change. To my eyes you can keep the coast.... but, Ah! the mountains are pristine and begging to be explored, picnic-ed, climbed and trekked. I would love to explore the wilderness that begins a few hundred metres above your house, just the little taste we got has given me an appetite for more.

Canillas de Aceituno is a haven of peace far from the madness of mass tourism and Casa Beni is an eagle's perch apart. Thank you for introducing us to a world I only knew from a map.

Notes:
Casa Beni also has underfloor heating for the colder months of the year making it a very good choice for the winter. All the rooms have air-conditioning. Both the underfloor heating and the air-conditioning are on a meter and will be charged according to usage. There is a full size ping pong table on one of the terraces. Also a basketball net. Bring along your lap top and you can plug it into the free internet.

Beautiful, relaxing home from home

We had such a wonderful stay here! One of the most relaxing and peaceful places I have stayed- up in the hills and with incredible views over the countryside and to the sea. The terrace is such a beautiful hangout spot and perfect for meals, sunbathing and sundowners to make you feel a million miles away from London! Every detail in the house has been thought about - from the comfortable beds to the well stocked kitchen. The village is perfectly Spanish with a great selection of tapas bars, cafes, restaurants and beautiful streets to explore. The beach down at Torre del Mar is also within easy reach from the villa and the Tanit beach bar is a great place to spend the day, eating lunch and spending a lazy afternoon on their sun loungers. I couldn't recommend Casa Beni more! I just wish I had been there for longer!

I have seen The Bahia Tanit beach bar grow in popularity over the past 4 or 5 years and they really deserve it - it is absolutely lovely down there.

Charming and comfortable

The most amazing setting very unique.

The house itself is beautiful with every home comfort. The position is spectacular overlooking the valley with fabulous views. We so enjoyed the village atmosphere and found the locals so friendly and helpful. We ate out most nights in the surrounding restaurants and had a wonderful time.

I would highly recommend a visit to Casa Beni.

Beautiful Villa in Serene Setting

My husband and I were on a three week trip to Spain, traveling from Barcelona, to the Basque Country, Asturias

and Granada. By the time we reached Canillas de Aceituno, we were ready for some quiet time and Casa Beni was the perfect place. The villa was lovely, spacious and well appointed. We like to cook, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Sonia and Ian were great and very helpful with information about the area. It was helpful that they spoke English as I was the only one in our group who spoke Spanish.

Casa Beni is set between the Sierra Tejeda National Park and the famous white-washed village of Canillas de Aceituno, just 40 minutes north east of Malaga. The villa looks out over Lake Vinuela and down to the sea beyond - the Costa del Sol being a beautiful 20 minute drive away. Torre del Mar is the nearest seaside resort and here one can find some fine beach bars. A bit further along the coast are more intimate and private beaches and just outside Nerja, the famous Burriana beach. There are two golf courses within 25 minutes drive and an aquapark.

This is the perfect location to explore the rest of the Axarquia country side and the real Spain or nip down to the coast where the pace is a little faster. Marbella and Puerto Banus are within 1.5 hours and Malaga, which is full of culture and wonderful shops, a mere 40 minutes away. Nerja and its famous caves are definitely worth a visit - 25 minutes. The beautiful Alhambra Palace in Granada takes 1.5 hours and Sevilla a couple of hours.
