About the property

Large 60 sq m lounge, 2 bedroom sleeps 4, pool, garden, open all year

Gite Solterre is located amongst the vineyards of the famous Gaillac wine producing area in the Tarn department of Midi Midi-Pyrenees. Gite Solterre was converted from an old winery into a luxurious two bedroom accommodation with a spacious lounge, underfloor heating, private plunge pool with saline water and walled terrace. Large about 60 sq metres (600 sq foot) open plan living room – dining – kitchen with high ceilings and large panoramic windows over the fields, hills and vineyard. Tiled floors. Comfortable TV area with plasma screen and two sofas. Large dining table with sitting for six; Tasteful combination of old and new. Brand new solid wood furniture. New kitchen and bathrooms. New appliances. Underfloor heating. British Freeview. WiFi. iPod compatible audio system. Plasma TV and DVD. Quality bedding, linen and toileteries provided. Suitable for elderly and wheelchair access (main door 80cm, all other doors 78cm, no steps inside the property).

The area north of Gaillac is full of gently rolling hills, green valleys and delightful medieval villages (bastides) and is often referred to as a ‘French Tuscany’. Some call it the “golden triangle” between Albi, Gaillac and Cordes-sur-Ciel. It is a perfect holiday base to explore the region full of history and natural beauty – forests, mountains, hilltop villages, great full and wine, Mediterranean atmosphere and climate.

Wonderful! 4.8/5 -

Charming property, lovely position

  • 5 of 5

Very well equipped, although I couldn't find a chopping board so had to chop on plates to make sure I did not scratch the kitchen surfaces. But otherwise I found everything we needed.

It is a charming place to stay because the high ceilings give it a real sense of space which is also helped by the fact that it is not over-furnished. The view is somewhat obstructed by the trees in front but one could see for miles by looking to the right

Our request for extra sheets was met promptly and efficiently and all emails were also answered promptly which is a great help when one is trying to synchronise dates and flights.

We hope to go back.....

First impressions always count. Driving up to the gite was beautiful, very easy to find. As we opened the door we knew we would enjoy the week.

Wonderfully furnished, everything immaculate, very clean and tidy. Not one nasty surprise. Georges extremely helpful right from booking process, and always accessible. Such a gorgeous location and a wonderful part of France. Be sure to visit the many medievil hilltop villages for lunchtime treats

Lovely Gite!

  • 5 of 5

We had little idea that we would end up in such a gorgeous spot. The Gite was fully equipped and very classy with high quality accompaniments. It was clean and private, and we had everything we needed, along with great recommendations and directions. The area was so gorgeous, we were sorry not to have stayed longer. Thank you so much for having everything available and taking care of our needs so quickly. We will definitely plan another trip in order to come back to not only the area but the Gite Sorrento for sure. It was really spectacular, and we absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and I'm glad you and your wife have enjoyed your stay, liked the accommodation and the kitchen arrangements. We haven't put the prices us for 7 years and in fact lowered them a bit last year, as they even include Taxe De Sejour. We have lots of families staying with small kids and the little lane outside has never been an issue. I'm glad the weather was gorgeous during your stay and I hope to see you again in the Tarn.

Well appointed gite in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

The gite is in a great location for visiting the sites of Tarn (the bastides, Albi, walking ect) as well as being very comfortable (including the beds!) and extremely well equipped.

Would happily stay there again and thank you George for being such a good host.

Quality Gite

  • 5 of 5

Recommended gite in quiet secluded spot but with easy access to pretty villages in rural France. We stayed here as a family of four and had a great time. The gite is very well maintained, is spacious and has everything you might need. The owner was easy to contact and access could not have been more straightforward. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
