Mouledou, comprising the farmhouse (La Maison) and barn (La Grange), set in 4 acres of lawned gardens surrounded by fields of sunflowers and orchards. In this peaceful , idyllic rural setting you can relax and enjoy the views over the rolling countryside and towards the nearby hamlet of Cazideroque with its pretty houses, church and chateau. An ideal base for exploring Lot et Garonne - the well known historic route 'circuit des bastides' is literally on the doorstep. Ideal for a relaxing holiday, you can do as much or as little as you please. Why not indulge yourself in the excellent local cuisine? Within as little as 5 minutes drive of the property there are a number of excellent restaurants and vineyards (Cahors and Buzet vineyards within 10 - 40 mins.)

Café des Arts in Penne - no web site but look at this link i-love aquitaine.blogspot.com/.../penne-dagenais-plum-flowers-in-french. html kids welcome great salads, pasta & crepes.Penne d’Agenais is full of interesting streets, cafes, restaurants, galleries and the Basilica (church) on the hill-top – a really friendly, stylish but real village with a lovely ambience and great views
Le Moulin - Dausse - fantastic food a real experience, allow 3 hours; set menu full of surprises (our local answer to The Fat Duck!) - again not with the kids - about 5 mins away - DAUSSE also is the nearest good local corner store with bread
Dausse has weekly events during the summer e.g. moules frites evenings in the square with live music - great fun for all the family! (nearby Tournons has the same thing - gastronomic evenings, dances, fireworks, evening markets etc etc).
Pujols - 20 mins away - one of the most beautiful villages in France views, churches, galleries & views plus
RESTAURANT LA TOQUE BLANCHE, LD BEL AIR, PUJOLS, 47300, France. Was Michelin starred - v. formal, amazing traditional food (not for young kids)
L'EPICURIEN DE LA VILLA SMERALDE Pujols- much more trendy than the other two, good food & pleasant ambience inside or in the garden (could take kids)
La Table des Sens is a new restaurant in Villeneuve (25 mins) has good reviews
Montflaquin - 30 mins away another most pretty village with market etc - a must visit town - this restaurant is pretty good, informal, sit outside , ok for all!

Montcuq - café de centre & café de Paris - a must visit town with super Sunday market.
Very good, cheap & family friendly is the café by the river / bridge in St Sylvestre (where there is also a good local supermarket)- best supermarket is our side of Villeneuve - Le Clerc -massive & really fantastic; try their 'ready meals' and prepared paella etc - all excellent and cheap!- have a look in the side room for local specialities e.g. prunes in chocolate, foie gras, duck etc - often beautifully packaged

Sarlat .Thursday Monflanquin,Monpazier .Saturday Villereal Villeneuve sur Lot Sunday Pujols. In the summer many of these towns have nocturnal markets. Each square will be packed with tables surrounded by market stalls selling everything for your open air meal with wine

La Grange combines history (a white stone building believed to date back to 13th C! with modern conveniences, providing comfortable and well equipped accommodation for up to 8 people in four bedrooms (two doubles, two twins with bunks, 2 shower rooms, 2 separate WCs).
A beautiful & peaceful location near to all amenities with its own swimming pool - private & fenced. The swimming pool is for the sole use of La Grange guests, set within the ruined walls of the rear of this old barn creating a quiet suntrap and secure environment for young children.
Both floors (ground and upper) have 2 bedrooms, (a double and a bunked twin) plus separate wc and shower room.
Large living / dining room with cavenous ceiling. Eat in kitchen. Table tennis room. Covered and sun terraces.

I'm a Chartered Surveyor working in residential development in UK.
My wife was in fashion and is now a psycho-therapist - look out for workshops and retreats in the future!
We refurbished the 2 properties on purchase, and gave each one its own pool and terraces.We continue to refubish and upgrade the properties every year.
Every year since then we have upgraded the furnishings, decor and amenities and continue to do so. We treat Mouledou as our home, not just a holiday rental.
(We have a new web site mouledou.com which I hope will show how much better the houses now look!). We get down to the property as often as possible; usually 4 times per year but never in the high season. It gives us a chance to do a bit of gardening, buy new paintings and antiques for the houses and to instruct our excellent managers as to what building / repair works are required for the new season. We hope you enjoy the place as much as we do - our current record for returning holiday makers is a Belgian family who have been six times!

“We have both spent nearly all our family holidays in France since the early 1960's. It was after experiencing disappointing weather on several occasions, further north that we settled on this area south of Bourdeaux. Lot & Garonne is the smallest departement, but one of the wealthiest and most attractive. The rich heritage of both English and French Kings in the area together with the plethora of high quality wines and vineyards has given the place a sophistication that attracts good restaurants and shops, without the crowds of Provence or the Midi. After 5 holidays in Lot & Garonne we were convinced that the combination of excellent local produce, beautiful scenery ('France's own Tuscany) with rolling green hills, cyprus trees, fields of sun flowers and idyllic white stone houses with terracotta roofs was the best choice. We then had to find a property away from any traffic noise, within 5 minutes of a bakers and 10 minutes of a market and supermarket with no immediate neighbours and lovely views!”
Activity and Interests
Located in quiet countryside surrounded by fields of local speciality products - sunflowers (for oil); plum trees (top place in the world with California for for dried prunes); maize and Aquitaine Blond cattle kept for their milk.
The wonderful local markets offer local produce plus antiques / bric a brac and garage sales.
Nearby medieval villages (bastides) offer a variety of restaurants, seasonal entertainment (markets, evening suppers, live music, art shows, artisan products) together with both historic tours / trails and medieval pilgrimmage routes.
Beautiful views in all directions across fields. Numerous chateaux are in view as is the 13th century church of nearby Cazideroque.
The route des bastides (tour of fortified medieval hill top towns and villages) passes by and both Tournon sur d'Agenais and Penne d'Agenais are only 5 or 10 minutes away. Both are beautiful medieval villages, and have lovely cafes, restaurants and historic buildings within the town walls. The views out are majestic and take in the rolling country-side and the River Lot .
A genuine, unspoilt, yet sophisticated corner of France popular with the French and visitors from overseas - an area that has been owned by the English almost as often as by the French and known as France's Tuscany.

- Built in 13th C, this stone barn accommodation is substantial and spacious, on two levels, and comprises : A massive room, with very high ceilings; well furnished and comfortable living room and dining area ; patio doors leading to the pool and terrace. Much original art adorns the walls including some very substantial works! Farmhouse table (made from old wine barrel found in the barn) dining chairs, 2 sofas, several armchairs, coffee table, books etc in old buffet and enormous armoire (from the previous owners chateau in St Emilion) .English Satellite TV.
