About Michelle Ruiz

Hello - Hola

May your stay be everything you want it to be............

Sea's the day!

Michelle Ruiz purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Michelle Ruiz chose Great Guana Cay

Why we choose Great Guana cay is simply we feel in love with our Bahamian friends who reside here and have raised their children on this glorious Island. Now going on 22 years, all 4 generations of our family, truly love and enjoy our Island home. The Cottage was built in late 90's by local builder Mr. Charles Sands of Great Guana Cay who is known throughout the Abaco's. Charles Sands Construction continues to build beautiful homes today.

What makes this cottage unique

Updated in 2017 our cottage sits on quite piece of land nestled with native treesand plants. I personally love sipping my coffee on the porch and watching the hummingbirds and finches. The kids love our deep water dock its perfect for tying off your boat or jumping in for a nice swim. The Large Wrap Around Porch offers breezes and shade at various times of the day to take that afternoon nap or sip your drink and watch boaters and sea life go by.

A five night girl's get away at Seas the Day was absolutely wonderful. The house has all the amenities in a beautiful setting - light, bright, & breezy. We arrived via a fun ferry ride, were met with our golf cart (!), made a quick grocery run at the Guana market, and were snorkeling off the dock immediately. The deck is a lovely place for sunset cocktails and morning coffee. The kitchen is gourmet equipped for meals in, but nearby for lunch we enjoyed Nippers & Grabbers, Sunsetters for a nice dinner out, and we had a frozen drink at the newly open Mermaids on the Rocks (the view!). Also, Troy at Dive Guana rented fins & gave us good advice for nearby snorkel sites - they also have nice boats for rent. This place is heaven & the house was a perfect home base for our adventures.

My Response

Thank you so much for your kind words We are glad you enjoyed your stay! Please think of us on your next trip to Abaco you are welcomed back anytime!

We had a wonderful time at Seas The Day. The beds were so comfortable and the cottage beautifully furnished. We absolutely enjoyed fishing off of the dock and watching the amazing sunsets. Hope to return soon!

Great comfy cottage.

  • 4 of 5

Seas the Day is a nice cottage on the bay side of Great Guana Island. The kids loved the loft area upstairs. Nice master bedroom. Convenient to town but not too close. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and dock. Just remember, it is a remote island in the Bahamas, so you conserve water by taking a “boat shower” and the power does go out on the island, but that is island life. We did have good WiFi and the kitchen is well appointed. Also the air conditioning units work well. Overall a great tropical island cottage.

Owner's Response: Hello Amanda, Abaco is indeed the outer Islands and we appreciate your conservation of water. I'm sorry you experienced power outage (it happens) but, hope that you contacted our caretaker who is available for you, as we have a generator that runs the house. It is noted in our welcome book, but will make certain that future guest are well aware. Thank you,for your kinds words as we love hearing that your family overall enjoyed themselves and most importantly the kids! Michelle & Family

Great spot to get away!

Loved the house and amenities. Note would be to buy provisions in Marsh Harbour before taking the ferry over to Guana.

Lots of fun and good times,

Overall very nice. Only complaint is no internet connection and master bedroom tv had no cable. Well equipped with games and nice beachy decorations, nice clean bathrooms

We recommend it and we would stay again.

Thanks Michelle!!

Seas the Day in April

  • 5 of 5

Seas the Day is a beautiful open air home on the sea of Abaco. Beautiful setting with the dock right down off of the porch. The house itself was not like a 5 star resort but is perfect for those looking for a more quiet, modest setting in a somewhat out of the way location. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the porch in the morning looking out over the water. It does have satellite and wifi so you can get your modern world fix as needed. The upstairs bedroom is small but had enough storage to not feel cramped for two people. More than that would be a bit tight. The owner was especially easy to deal with and all of my contacts with her were pleasant and trouble free. We truly enjoyed staying here and would recommend it to anyone who understands the atmosphere in the out islands of the Bahamas.

A word about Guana. Guana cay is a quaint little village that is probably not for those looking for all of the amenities that a modern resort town offers. It has some nice, informal dining options and of course Nippers (particularly on Sundays) for the "let your hair down" party scene.

Owner's Response: I'm so happy you all enjoyed our Bahamian Cottage. We also enjoy drinks on the porch, just last week we spotted a pod of roughly 10 bottle-nosed Dolphin just off our dock! Thanks again and we hope you reach out to us for your next trip to Guana Cay I'll be sure to offer return guest such as yourselves a special.
