We are never happier than when outdoors under the warm Perigourdine sun, after spending many years commuting on planes, trains and automobiles we settled here in the Dordogne 11 years ago and have never looked back....

La Forge is a wonderful, extremely well equipped and spotless cottage in a beautiful part of the Dordogne, ideally situated to explore the best of the area.
Karen and Rob are lovely, around if you need to ask them anything but not overbearing at all. They have thought of everything, plenty for the kids to do on site with the play barn, and the pool is great. The grounds are big and the garden is wonderful, with the stream running along one side. Completely relaxing and idyllic.
I would thoroughly recommend a stay here and in fact we are already planning a return to the Dordogne next summer. Thank you Karen and Rob for a lovely holiday.
Recently stayed in la forge at Le Banquet for 1 week. We arrived later than expected so missed the supermarket. Karen kindly offered to get us some bits to see us through until the morning. This was very kind and made us relaxed on arrival.
Rob met us on arrival and we were very impressed with the cottage. All the facilities you need with a 14 month old i.e stair gates, baby monitor etc.
The pool was lovely and has beautiful backdrop with view of the countryside. The local villiage Les Eyzies has great little restaurants serving local cuisine.
The location is also great to explore other local areas.
We would definitely go back again.
The only thing I would add is a portable gate to the stairs that lead down into the sunken kitchen. We had to really watch our little one around those steps.
Stayed for 8 nights and had a very relaxing time, just what we needed to re-charge. The property was very clean, had lots of facilities and was very comfortable. The kitchen has all you need for a family self catering. We had a 3 year old and the property was great for him. Lots to keep him occupied, from the numerous toys in the play barn to running around the huge garden and playing on the slide. We really enjoyed the local markets, especially in La Buge. There is so much to see and do in this area. The owners were on site but not intrusive and more than happy to provide any further info required (The play barn is also stocked with a variety of travel guides, maps and local brochures). We really appreciated the groceries that Rob and Karen got in for us for our arrival and the bottle of lovely wine. I would highly recommend staying here.
We stayed in La Forge for a week with our 14 month old daughter. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, the whole stay was outstanding. Karen and Rob were the perfect hosts - easy to find when you needed something, but not calling round when you didn't. The bottle of rosé in the fridge when we arrived was perfect.
The cottage was delightful. Beautiful open plan family area downstairs and good size bedrooms upstairs. The village of Les Ezyies has enough in to keep you entertained if you don't fancy traveling and there is a lot to do within easy striking distance.
They also have a good amount of baby kit that reduces the weight you need to carry with you. Worth checking with them before you do your packing.
It's rare that I write such a glowing review and I do so with some trepidation on a purely selfish basis - we are definitely going back and want to make sure we get a booking.
We had a great two weeks stay with our three little poppets this summer at Le Banquet. Hosts Karen and Rob were amazing as was the two bedroom cottage itself, with its views over 3 acres, the pool and river. The property is close to many of the caves, formal gardens, wine (of course) and many other recreational activities. And, if you don't feel like going out for a morning or afternoon there is always the games room and pool. Life is so tough in the Dordogne! What an incredible place and holiday destination. A quick trip we understand from the UK by air and 7 hours for us by car to Basel in Switzerland. We will be back!
We stayed in La Forge for one week at the end of June and couldn't of asked for a more perfect location. Stunning gardens, accommodation which catered for all our needs, beautiful clean pool and most of all, the owners, Karen and Rob who made us feel so welcome and relaxed. The play barn was also an added bonus which we used most days, with having a three year old, we were able to keep him entertained with boules, cricket and football - not to mention the DVD collection which we raided each evening!
The area itself is also so tranquil but with plenty of places to visit and explore from boat trips, canoeing, caves, local markets and chateaus to mention but a few. Our week at Le Banquet was truly memorable and enjoyable and we hope to visit again soon.
