About the Owner

Originally from Ireland, we moved lock, stock and barrel in 2005 selling up our business and taking the plunge to this stunning region and have never looked back, especially as this has been a wonderful area to bring up our son and with easy flights back to Ireland and to the UK we can still keep in touch with our friends and family...

Thank you so much for a wonderful week - all the comments from previous visitors were confirmed.... the warm welcome and all the special touches that made our stay so pleasant.

Our stay was primarily about catch up time with our daughter and a special friend - so sightseeing was mixed with much socialising. However, we made time to see gardens, the villages of Domme and Beynac... the market in Sarlat... a trip to Cahors... We all wish our stay could have been longer.... the times on Le Pouget terrace were all too short... We would love to return to discover more...

We'll be back!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous 2 week break at Le Pouget and cannot fault it in anyway. Every little detail was taken care of and if we had found something Barry and Paula would have only been too happy to sort it out for us. The area is beautiful and we made the most of it, visiting somewhere different everyday, so much to do - so little time!! We will definetly be back and this time relax a little more in the wonderful, peaceful garden that our 3 kids loved. They were in the pool everyday and particulary enjoyed the table tennis and swings. Big thanks to Barry, Paula and Reece!

great location

  • 3 of 5

Our first impression was oh no it is cold and miserable, but the second day the sun came out and we had a wonderful relaxing time in the garden and the location for going out and about was great. Secluded and quiet, took our two small dogs and they loved it. Paula and Barry could not have been more welcoming/helpful. Lots of tiny thoughtful touches in the property. We didn't have children with us, but they would have been well catered for if we had. We have already booked to return in 2017. Superb restaurant nearby too.

Perfect

We found Le Pouget was perfect !

An ideal place to unwind, set in a spacious garden with plenty of seating areas and really well equipped and thought out. The extras like cool box, flask and bikes all helped to make our stay complete.

The situation is ideal for exploring the Dordogne, so much to see and do and we were blessed with wonderful weather !

Paula and Barry are great hosts ! We hope to return again next year !

Perfect Dordogne Holiday Home REntal

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Le Pouget along with our two little dogs for a week in May 2016.

What can i say, the house and garden were a dream.

The house was perfect with everything you could ask for in a holiday home, a lovely spacious home with all mod cons. The garden was amazing, lovely and big and fully enclosed so safe for children and dogs with a lovely pool to laze in aswell.

The location was perfect with Sarlat only a very short drive away, smaller villages being even closer and the whole area is a wonder to discover.

For anyone looking for a base to discover the Dordogne i'd strongly recommend Le Pouget .One of our dogs refused to get into the car as we were leaving to head home as he didn't want to leave the garden.

Also Paula and Barry are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They want you to really enjoy your holiday and i was asking all sorts of questions about the area and they were a great source of knowledge for us.

We will definitely be back to Le Pouget in the future.

A beautiful, well kept property

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful property which is excellently maintained. It had everything we needed and more, including indoor and outdoor toys for our toddlers, a gorgeous outdoor dining area with bbq and lovely views across the fields. The facilitates were great including outdoor plunge pool, well equiped kitchen and comfortable bedroooms. The bungalow is in an excellent location with some attractions only 5 mins down the road while others well worth the 20 minute car journey. For hiking and walking there are footpaths and routes from the ,doorstep. Sarlat only 10 minutes down the road, has many wonderful places to eat, as well as good shopping and a range of supermarkets. Barry was an super host, welcoming and willing to put our needs first from the moment we arrived. We really appreciated him offering us his support and guidance on local information. I would highly recommend this property, an excellent base from which to explore the Dordogne.

Location

From the Owner

We kept passing this cottage on our search for our own house... but as we were looking for a 3 bedroom house, we didn't take a peek.... We knew that we wanted to run a holiday home and after staying in a few holiday homes ourselves had a good idea what we were looking for.. we knew we wanted the property to have an enclosed garden , to be on one level so small children and guests with mobility problems had easy access, to have off street parking, a view of the countryside and to be near to our favorite medieval town of Sarlat. After giving all these details to our estate agent, she pulled out the details of ' Le Pouget'... the house that we kept passing... so of course we had to take a proper look... this is when we fell in love with the cottage and could see the potential for a relaxing atmosphere for adults and a safe, fun environment for children and the added bonus of being a stones throw from our favorite medieval town..

Facilities

From the Owner

Location, Location, Location... not only is the cottage surrounded by country side but only a stones throw from all the fantastic sights of the Perigord noir ...After refurbishing our cottage and landscaping the garden we could sit back and relax and enjoy the view of the countryside and could just imagine waking up and opening the French doors from the lounge to enjoy breakfast on the terrace or listening to the birds and watching the wildlife while enjoying a glass of wine...knowing that our son was having as much fun as we were in the enclosed garden. One of our favorite things was sitting outside in the garden on a balmy and clear Summers night when the stars are so close it feels like you can touch them... very romantic...
