Amazing cottage, peaceful, quiet and well equipped. Great choice if you want a relaxing stay.

We stayed to celebrate my daughter's 7th birthday and it was perfect. We walked, swam, ate and relaxed. My 8 year old described it as epic - says it all really.

The dog loved the garden and it was nice to know it was secure. Although the snow curtailed his desire to be outside too much.

Can't fault anything!!! Would recommend to anyone.

Warm and cozy home from home deep in the Scottish highlands

  • 5 of 5

A spacious, cozy cottage - perfect for a family of four to come home to after a long cold day yomping in the highlands! Things we really appreciated: the little welcome gift; how well the heating worked (and the fact that it was on to welcome us on our arrival!); the log burner; the comfy beds and good bedding; the fabulous book collection; the quality of the cookware. We had a family Scrabble tournament - playing every night in front of the wood burner (although this got rather heated at times....).

We also loved the fact that someone came by when we were out and chopped more wood for us! And the simple, generous attitude the owners had towards eg. electricity and phone use. Really in a class of its own. We are very much hoping to come again next year.

Lovely, tranquil setting

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very warm on arrival and the wine, milk and biscuits much appreciated, as were supplies of tea, coffee etc and film/foil. We had a wonderful stay and found it a good base from which to explore, even driving as far as John O'Groats and Skye; such stunning scenery that the drive seemed no effort at all. Cairngorm was another favourite and a boat trip from Fort William when the weather was better in the West than the East. We didn't explore Inverness except to drive through for supermarkets and collect our son from the train station, but it appears to have everything you need - we didn't manage to make it in 25 minutes, even driving at speed like the locals, but it's a lovely scenic drive and you can keep your eyes peeled for deer en route.

We had amazingly sunny weather all week so perfect weather for climbing The Ben. It also meant we were not troubled by midges, and were thrilled to see so many types of birds on the table outside the kitchen window (robin, chaffinch, great tit, blue tit, coal tit, greenfinch, swallow). Well worth investing in some seed to encourage them. We also saw lots of deer, red squirrel, Highland cattle, hares, kites and a unicorn! Keep your eyes peeled in Inverness for that one. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use (a pair of scissors and food tongs would be useful, and we bought dishcloths and scourers and left the remainder for the next guests to use).

Turan was very easy and friendly to deal with during the booking process and leading up to our arrival.

We stayed for four nights 2 adults,2 kids (5 and 9) and 1 dog wished we'd booked longer. Very relaxing and the view are amazing. The house has everything your need and there is plenty of room inside and out. You must go up to the peaks of Nevis and ride the Gondola up the mountain (dogs are welcome) we were lucky to see the last of the snow. We found that we couldn't leave the dog in the garden at this property as he would have jumped the fence (huskey). We were lucky with the weather so spend a lot of time out walking and looking for Nessy. Looking forward to our next break and will definitely be booking this cottage again.

Owner's Response: Dear Michael and Tara - thanks so much for the lovely review. We're delighted you loved Woodside and found it was spacious and had everything you needed. Yes, although the gardens are fenced all the way round, up to at least 4 feet (in many places much higher) it may seem that some really big dogs might be able to get over - but in all the years we've been letting Woodside, no dogs have escaped yet ! We'll take another look and make that front section a bit higher - thanks for the feedback. And we're delighted you'd like to come back. A special VIP welcome pack awaits your next visit ! with thanks and best wishes - Turan

Cosy cottage in blissfully quiet location

  • 5 of 5

We were welcomed to a warm, extremely clean and highly comfortable home to spend a week exploring the Highlands. 'Woodside' is a super-well equipped cottage with a welcome pack to get you started (thank you so much) in a charming location with many walks in the area. A quiet retreat where we recharged the batteries but also took our 9 months old puppy for many adventures in the local lochs and forests. A perfect base for exploring the Great Glen area and further afield.
