2 bedroom detached house to sleep 6 comfortably in Normandy village

Modern family house in the heart of the Normandy countryside, set in a natural meadow with a stream and small woodland area. Ideal for a family break with outdoor activities, or simply as a quiet restful rural retreat.

The house accommodates 6 people comfortably, and can sleep up to 8. The property is on two floors comprising:

Ground floor: sitting room (with sofa bed), large kitchen-dining room with fridge, washing machine, microwave, and bottled-gas cooker. The sitting room has an open fireplace - an adequate supply of logs is provided for additional comfort in cold weather. Rear lobby with WC, and staircase to first floor.

First floor: double bedroom, bathroom & WC, attic bedroom with one double and 2 single beds.

The meadow is extensive, including a well, a stream and a hay field. The lawn adjacent to the house has a BBQ for alfresco dining.

Domjean village is a 5-minute walk. It has a boulangerie, supermarket, bar-tabac, hairdresser and a superb restaurant. The 18th-century church has modern frescos and a carillon. Domjean was recently awarded its 4th rosette as a ‘Village Fleurie” – Village in Bloom. It hosts an art exhibition during the summer each year.

The village gardens include a children’s playground and mini-golf, as well as a small campsite. There are many attractive walks nearby, as well as stunning views from the Roches de Ham.

About the Owner

The property is owned and enjoyed by our whole family - my wife Belinda and our 2 daughters, as well as my 3 sisters and their families - we are all joint owners. Our extended family - 6 cousins and their families - were also owners up until 2008 and continue to enjoy visiting Domjean. We visit the house each year, often more than once - a quick hop across the Channel from our home near Guildford, Surrey.

Lovely little holiday home

What a lovely place to stay! The house, although not luxurious, has everything you could possibly need and the garden is amazing!! The house is in a lovely little village with a bakery that we walked to every morning to get our breakfast. There was plenty to do locally and further afield. We went cycling, to the beach to the WW2 historical sites, did some great walks. The house is ideally located for getting to both the West coast and the North coast, though it did take nearly an hour in both directions.

Great house in Normandy

A very nice and well organized holiday-house with a beautiful garden at the end of the village Domjean. Everything you need is in the house, and in one hour drive there (but also closeby) is a lot to see. You will find a lot of information in the house. Great place to relax and celebrate your holidays!

Relaxation and exploration in equal measure!!

We booked this property as a week before heading on to Brittany. I so wished we had booked two weeks here, as it was fantastic!!!! Brilliant location to experience rural France and great location to explore Normandy. The house and grounds offer the kids loads of room to explore and as parents we know that they are safe exploring the farmland, feeding the goats, hens, sheep...etc.

The only hesitation I had in recommending here as a place to stay was the hope that it is still available for us, but we've already booked for next year now,..... Two weeks this time!!

Relaxing stay in a peaceful location

The house was perfect for our needs, nice open-plan kitchen/dining room, lots of room outside for our children to run around and play in and a boulangerie walking distance from the house, so you didn't have to get in the car to enjoy croissants and pain au chocalats for breakfast.

There was lots to do in the surrounding areas from the Velorail at Conde sur Vire to watching the horses at the national stud at St Lo, beaches at Granville and the zoo at Champrepus. Equally we really enjoyed the local walks around Domjean.

We would thoroughly recommend this house to anyone with families or on their own who want a rural retreat in a beautiful village.

Relaxing Holiday

Very peaceful and relaxing french property which has over the few years we have visited gave us enjoyment and relaxation with a beautiful big garden were the children at times have kept them selfs entertained. Also normandy has lots to offer for all generations. We will be rebooking and would recommend this place to all who enjoy relaxation.

Grrrreeeeaaaaaat!

We had the perfect holiday. A very quiet spot, not a soul in sight if you don't count the sheep in front of the house and the horse at the back (whom we feed all our old bread and some illicit sugar cubes). The lawn was ideal for relaxing and playing crocket (I always lost, though). The house is cosy and well equipped, my personal favorites being the fireplace and the Spiderman eggcup.

Thanks Belinda and Tim, we had a very nice stay.

Domjean is a beautiful, peaceful, rural village with all the necessary amenities for a quiet relaxing holiday. At the same time, it is located conveniently near to many areas of interest: the beach, the river, the seaside, the Normandy beaches, Norman history and churches - never a dull moment.

Nearest Barpub : Bar Michel at 400 Metres Nearest Ferry : Caen (Ouistream) at 48 Kilometres Nearest Train : St.Lo at 18 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Tessy-sur-Vire at 4 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Bar Michel at 400 Metres Nearest Beach : Montmartin-sur-Mer at 26 Kilometres Car: necessary

Plenty of detailed information on tourist attractions will be found in the house including Market Days (most local towns have a market day). Several notable towns are within reasonable driving distance: Bayeux, Villedieu, St. Lo, Caen, Deauville, St. Malo, and Coutances. Other places of interest include the spectacular Mont St. Michel and the

D-Day beaches.

The local area offers a range of activities, including horse riding (the National stud of France is in nearby St.Lo); fishing; canoeing at Pont Farcy; Caves at Caumont l’avente; tree to tree at Torigni-Sur-Vire; Bungee jumping at Hackett’s; Velorail and kayaking at Conde sur Vire; Zoos at Champrepus and Jurques; and beaches on the Granville coast.

Alternatively, simply read a book surrounded by little more than birdsong and the buzz of insects in the hay field......
