Welcome to Rowlands Aviemore - self catering accommodation in the heart of the Highlands. Rowlands is a 4 bedroom cottage, sleeping 8 plus 1 baby. Dogs welcome. Large garden with patio, outdoor seating and storage shed. Rowlands has been completely renovated, extended and re-furnished in 2011, well maintained and equipped to excellent standards. Located in a pleasant residential area, the cottage is just 5 minutes walk from the golf course and 15 minutes walk from the village centre. The open countryside around Aviemore is just metres away. Aviemore is in the centre of Scotland’s great outdoors. Dominated by the wild Cairngorm mountains and surrounded by rivers, lochs and Caledonian forest, Aviemore is the ideal base for year round activities and offers walking, mountain biking, winter sports, golf, fishing and climbing. It is also a family resort, with swimming pools, children's play areas and soft play in the village and plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area

In 2011 we completely renovated, extended and re-furnished our house so we can now offer accommodation for 8 plus one baby. We offer 4 bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 twin and 1 bunks) and 2 bathrooms as well as open plan living. We have chosen a modern and contemporary design for our living space, with all the usual electrical appliances you would expect and we have furnished our house to a high standard. There is also a high chair and travel cot (bring your own bedding). The price you pay includes bedding, towels, electricity and water - there are no hidden charges. We are pleased to accept pets by arrangement. We offer free wireless broadband throughout the house and all bedrooms have TV/DVD players with Freesat.

Living/dining room area: The open plan dining/living room contains 2 comfortable leather sofas and dining space for 8 people. There is an LCD TV, DVD player, Freesat HD TV and CD/radio player. Kitchen area: the kitchen is fitted with contemporary units and has a fridge/freezer, electric cooker with a double oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble drier.

Downstairs bedrooms: at the front of the cottage we have a king-size double (which can be converted into 2 single beds) with a built in wardrobe and an additional pine tallboy offering ample hanging and shelf space. At the back of the cottage, we have a twin room with a built in wardrobe and pine drawers. The downstairs bathroom had a drench shower over the bath as well as the sink and toilet.

Upstairs bedrooms: the main bedroom offers a king-size double with windows on both sides, including a dormer offering views of the Craigellachie Hills; there is also a wardrobe, drawers and a changing table. The final bedroom has a full size set of bunk beds and a chest of drawers and views of the Craigellachie Hills through a dormer window. The upstairs bathroom offers a large shower cubicle with electric shower as well as the sink and toilet.

Outside: The house is surrounded on 2 sides by a lawned garden, offering ample space for barbecues. Outdoor furniture is provided for dining or seating outside and we have also built a paved patio area with a wooden picnic table and seats for 8. There is off road parking for 3 cars. We provide a small shed for storage of your outdoor equipment such as skis/boards, mountain bikes and golf clubs.

About Gary Law

Helen and Gary bought Rowlands Aviemore in 2004. We're winter sports enthusiasts and love walking and climbing in the mountains but we always had problems finding somewhere to stay as, at the time we had 2 dogs and they went everywhere with us. Spending so much time in the Cairngorms, we decided the time was right to buy our own home in the Highlands.

Why Gary Law chose Aviemore and the Cairngorms

We decided it was important that others had the opportunity to find comfortable well priced accommodation for their visits to Aviemore so we decided to let out the house for those who had similar interests and circumstances as us. As usual, nothing stays the same and along came our son in 2006 and now our focus is much more on family accommodation, and we still have our dog who keeps us company on our skiing/cycling/walking trips to the Cairngorms. We hope you enjoy Rowlands as much as we do!

What makes this cottage unique

Open plan living space downstairs, 4 bedrooms all with TV/DVD for rainy days including 2 ground floor bedrooms suitable for people with mobility difficulties, mountain views, watch the Strathspey Steam train chug by.......... yet only a 15 minute walk to the village centre. With skiing in the winter too, Aviemore is a year round resort appealing to families, groups and everyone in between!

Notes:
We have 2 downstairs bedrooms to accommodate people with mobility difficulties. Please note that there are 2 small steps at the front door and one at the back. The garden around our house is flat with no steps.

Stay here!!

We had a lovely stay at Rowlands. The cottage has everything you would require. Good location - about a 30 minute walk into Aviemore. Beds are very comfortable and there's a nice big garden to relax in if your lucky enough to get the weather.

Bike hire is on your door step if needed. Lots of really nice trails.

I can recommend mambos for cocktails and the Caringorm hotel for good food at a reasonable price.

Easter in Aviemore 2017

Many times in Aviemore but never before at Rowlands. Four of us arrived to view what looked like a small semi, only to open the door and find a Dr. Who's Tardis.

Almost immediately sent Gary a text congratulating him on what we found. Spotless and superbly equipped we wanted for nothing during our week long stay.

We will have no hesitation in contact Gary again for any future stay at Aviemore or indeed elsewhere.

Fantastic family holiday home in Aviemore

Have stayed at Rowlands several times over the past few years as Aviemore is a regular family holiday destination. This is fantastic property for 8 people to stay comfortably. Has all the comforts and requirements you require for a holiday in the outdoors ( the washing machine & dryer have been well used thanks to the Scottish weather on occasion ).

Heating is great and there is plenty hot water for baths and showers.

Very well equipped kitchen.

There is also a great garden and seating area to go with the BBQ for the nice weather.

Will definitely be using again.

Fantastic Holiday

We spent New Year in Aviemore and stayed at Rowlands for a week. This cottage is wonderful and exactly as described in the listing in fact it exceeded our expectations. The cottage was lovely and warm for our arrival on a very cold day and was just immaculate with everything you need home from home. The owner Gary was very easy to contact and very friendly and accommodating. We travelled with our seven year old son who has additional needs so the ground floor bedroom and bathroom was fantastic for him. We would not hesitate to recommend Rowlands to friends and family and would dearly love to return in the future.

Fantastic cottage close to centre of Aviemore

Now stayed at Rowlands on several occasions and every time on return have forgotten how lovely and homely it is.

Openplan living room/ kitchen with dining table and 4 bedrooms each sleeping 2. Always very clean and well equipped. Dog friendly home.

15minute walk maximum in to Aviemore centre but also excellent base for exploring the rest of the Cairngorms where there is an abundance of outdoor activities.

Gary is a pleasure to deal with and deals with any queries promptly.

Excellent house and perfect location

House was well maintained and exceptionally clean. Location was perfect for us, short walk from town centre and clubhouse with pool across the road. We struggle to find places to accommodate all our our family over the festive period, and this was ideal for the children and dogs. Really cannot fault Rowlands, and the owners were very responsive and accommodating. We have already booked for next year.

With so much open space, your options for outdoor activities are endless. Walking and mountain biking routes are available throughout the Cairngorm National Park and the surrounding forests and hills so there is something for every level of ability. If you’re a golfer, then Rowlands is for you, being only a 5 minute walk to Dalfaber Golf and Country Club's spectacular Spey Valley course. And don’t forget that there are many more courses within 30 minutes drive.

With ample water sports like fishing, sailing and canoeing at Loch Morlich and Loch Insh as well as the pool in Aviemore at the Highland Resort, even wet weather days can be fun! The area is also renowned for its wildlife (the RSPB centre at Loch Garten) and don’t forget a trip on the Strathsspey steam railway to Boat of Garten and Broomhill (aka Glenbogle!) or the funicular train to the top of Cairngorm Mountain. Fun for kids includes the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig and the Landmark Centre at Carrbridge.

Golf: The Championship Course at Dalfaber Golf and Country Club is just a few minutes walk from Rowlands. A round costs approximately £60 and the course is just under 7,200 yards.

Ski: Cairngorm Mountain sits in the middle of Scotland's ski areas and is a 20 minute drive from Rowlands. It offers a great choice of runs for both skiers and boarders and when the snow is good, the off-piste slopes can be fantastic fun!
