About the property

Self catering accommodation, in a great location, just 25 mins from airport

The Chalet is just 25min drive from the airport and is located in a hillside hamlet 620m above the Medieval town of Kamnik. It has great views of the limestone peaks of the Kamniske Alps and is surrounded by beautiful Alpine countryside. The traditional chalet-style accommodation comprises a large 1st floor bedroom with balcony sleeping four. The downstairs bedroom sleeps two. The living-room has a corner sofa and woodburner for those cosy evenings in. The galley-style kitchen is well equipped. Outside is a large terrace with comfortable seating plus seating for alfresco dining. There is garden on all sides and a barbecue. The basement has laundry facilities and ample storage for skis, etc. With compact but comfortable accommodation, the chalet is ideal as a tranquil all- year-round retreat to 'get away from it all', for a romantic break, Skiing holiday, or a central base within easy reach of all Slovenia's main attractions.

In and around Kamnik:: The chalet is in a tranquil hilltop location above the delightful medieval town of Kamnik.

There is plenty of garden and outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful alpine setting of the chalet and there are several very enjoyable walks starting directly from the chalet taking in forests, alpine meadows, the quaint local villages, spectacular views of the mountains and overlooking the whole of the Ljubljana basin.

The local town of Kamnik has an excellent choice of restaurants, café bars and shops.

This atmospheric little town, with its baroque architecture, narrow streets full of character , castles and churches is a popular choice for visitors, the tourist information office is located in the centre of town along with numerous tempting pavement cafes and bars to enjoy coffee, ice cream or a leisurely lunch.

Another local must-see is the high mountain pasture plateau of Velika Planina 1600m above sea level, the best-preserved herdsmen settlements in Europe, reached by cable-car ride

Activities:: When the snow falls this area is a winter wonderland, with the local ski resort of Krvavec...one of Slovenias most popular ski resorts only around 9 miles from the chalet. The gondola also operates in the summer, taking paragliders, bikers and walkers.

Other local activities include walking and trekking on beautiful alpine trails for all ages and abilities along rivers, gorges, waterfalls, mountains and forests. Road and mountain biking are also very popular with recommended routes available, paragliding, fishing and horse riding.

Slovenia has so much to offer as a holiday destination, from it's friendly people, beautiful alpine scenery, the idyllic lakes of Bohinj and Bled, the Adriatic coast and world famous Postojna and Skocjan caves to the vibrant capital of Llubljana . Trish and I bought our little slice of Slovenia back in July 2007 after a family holiday and falling in love with the country, since then we have spent as much time as we can at the chalet, and enjoyed many of the numerous activities on offer in this beautiful country. From day one we wanted as many people as possible to experience this delightful country and have now welcomed over 100 families to the chalet for their holidays. Hopefully we'll be able to welcome you in the near future !

Slovenia is located in the Eastern Alps and has borders with Croatia, Austria and Italy. English is widely spoken and the currency is the Euro.

Kamnik is a picturesque town 10 minutes drive from the chalet. Tourists visit Kamnik to see fine examples of Baroque architecture and to enjoy the excellent choice of bars, shops, restaurants, and pavement cafe's. Visit the tourist information centre to get the best out of your stay. The Chalet is within easy reach of Lakes Bled and Bohinj, Triglav National Park, The Capital Ljubliana, world acclaimed Postojna Caves, cable-car trips to the mountain pastures of Velika Planina and a choice of ski resorts close by for winter skiing & sledging. Many more activities are listed below.

Ski: Slovenia has over 25 ski centres 2 of which are very close to the chalet.

Krvavec:

The local ski resort of Krvavec is 1450-1971m above sea level, it stretches over 106 hectares and is only 9 miles from the chalet.

Krvavec has been awarded the coveted crystal snowflake award by consistently being voted best ski resort in Slovenia.

There is an easily accessible car park at the base of the gondola with parking for 1600 cars, and the newly installed gondola takes skiers to the slopes in less than 7 minutes.

There is a ski school with a full range of instruction and equipment for hire. A designated area exists for snowboarding, with half pipe and a number of jumps.

Velika planina is also close by (cablecar 5 miles) family skiing is especially popular since the wide gentle terrain does not demand great skiing skills.   • The Family Bedroom upstairs is large and open plan containing 4 single beds, sleeping up to 4 persons, with a door opening out onto the balcony. The second bedroom is downstairs, it has a double bed and en suite facilities. The stairs leading to both the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms are fairly steep typical chalet style and are not suitable for the infirm or unsupervised young children. A travel cot and high chair is available upon request.

Notes:
There are board games, a good selection of DVDs, books and other games available for your use in the lounge area. The stereo has an ipod/mp3 connection. Sledges and other outdoor games and equipment are stored in the shed. Due to the wooden construction of the chalet, smoking is not permitted indoors.

wirklich zu empfehlen!

Als vierköpfige Familie haben wir uns in diesem Häuschen sehr wohlgefühlt. Es ist sehr sauber und es fehlt wirklich an nichts. Es ist an alles gedacht. Die Beschreibung des Hauses ist wirklich korrekt und die Bilder geben alles gut wieder. Deswegen möchte ich hier nur ergänzen: Im Wohnbereich findet man auch diverse Spiele, Bücher, einen Fernseher, DVDs, eine Wanderkarte und Informationen über die Umgebung. Die Küche ist klein, aber mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Sollte es regnen, kann man hier an einem großen Esstisch gemütlich zum Essen sitzen. Ansonsten ist dazu unbedingt der große Esstisch auf der Terrasse zu empfehlen. Die beiden großen Sonnenschirme schützen einen dabei gut, so dass man dort auch im Hochsommer problemlos sitzen kann.

Skeptisch war ich in Bezug auf die in anderen Rezensionen erwähnten Hunde. Aber keine Sorge – ab und zu läuft mal einer einfach nur am Haus vorbei und wenn man keinen Kontakt möchte, kommen sie weder ans Haus noch auf die Terrasse (diese ist durch ein kleines Tor abgegrenzt).

Im oberen Schlafzimmer wird es auch im Hochsommer nicht zu warm. Durch die große Balkontür und ein weiteres Fenster kann man gut lüften.

Das Haus und das Grundstück verfügen trotz ihrer Kompaktheit über eine Vielzahl an Rückzugsmöglichkeiten (insgesamt drei Esstische, Sitzecke drinnen und draußen auf der Terasse sowie am Gartenhaus, Couch im Untergeschoss).

Alle Fenster im Haus sind mit Mückengittern versehen. Das W-Lan im Haus ist stabil und von überall im Grundstück gut erreichbar.

Das Haus ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für viele schöne Ausflüge und liegt trotzdem sehr ruhig.

Der Kontakt zu den Vermieter war stets unkompliziert und schnell möglich.

One of the best places we have ever had

The Chalet is one the best equipped accommodation we have ever experienced . It is clear that Mark thought about anything . This is a great place for a family ,as a center point for star trips in the area. Very close to Ljubljana , an hour from Bled , an hour from the Postja Caves , but still provides you exactly ..Pure Slovenia . Very - Very !! much !! recommended

Herrlicher Blick und üppige Ausstattung!

Während unseres knapp zweiwöchigen Aufenthaltes im Chalet konnten wir unseren Slowenienurlaub so richtig genießen. Die Lage des Chalets nördlich von Ljubljana bietet einen guten Ausgangspunkt, um weite Teile Sloweniens mit dem Auto zu erkunden. Das Chalet selbst liegt sehr ruhig am oberen Rand eines kleinen Dorfes. Da lediglich eine Sackgasse zum Chalet führt, gibt es auch kaum Verkehr am vorbeiführenden Weg.

Hinsichtlich der Ausstattung fehlt es im Chalet an annähernd nichts. Und sollte dies doch der Fall sein, so sind die äußerst netten britischen Vermieter für jedes Feedback offen. Selbst zahlreiche Verbrauchsmaterialien wie Spülmittel, Küchenrolle, Waschlappen etc. sind vorhanden und brauchen nicht zwingend selbst mitgebracht zu werden. Insgesamt wirkte das gesamte Chalet sauber und aufgeräumt. Zudem hat es durch zahlreiche persönliche Gegenstände der Vermieter einen gewissen persönlichen Charme.

Ein unschlagbarer Vorteil des Chalets ist zudem die riesige Terasse, welche mit einem großen Esstisch und zahlreichen Balkonmöbeln ausgestattet ist. Schatten spenden bei Bedarf zwei riesige Sonnenschirme. Da die Terassenseite zur Südseite hin gelegen ist, besteht jedoch auch die Möglichkeit, sich während der Mittagsstunden direkt hinter der Haus in der Nähe des Grillplatzes aufzuhalten. Dort befinden sich neben einem gemauerten Grill ein großer Holztisch und zwei Holzbänke. Darüber hinaus gibt es neben dem Chalet noch einen Schuppen, in welchem weitere Liegestühle, Sonnenschirme, ja sogar Schlitten zu finden sind.

Unsere anfänglichen Bedenken, das Chalet könnte aufgrund der sehr steilen und schmalen Treppen vom Erdgeschoss ins Kellergeschoss für unsere anderthalbjährige Tochter eher ungeeignet sein, zerschlugen sich recht schnell nach der Ankunft. In das Kellergeschoss gelangt man nämlich zusätzlich auch über ein Garagentor, welches in den Waschraum und daran anschließend in den Schlafbereich führt. Mit unserer Tochter mussten wir die Treppen daher annähernd nie hinab- oder hinaufsteigen. Bei Bedarf wird ein Babyreisebett zur Verfügung gestellt. Trotz des Hinweises, dass Bettbezüge dafür selbst mitgebracht werden müssen, fanden wir das Reisebett inklusive Decke und Kissen fertig bezogen vor. Sogar ein Kuschelhase wartete auf unsere Tochter.

Insgesamt ist die gesamte Vermietung sehr gut organisiert und auch der vollkommen unproblematische Kontakt mit den Vermietern trug zu einem positiven Gesamterlebnis bei. Klare Weiterempfehlung von uns!

We had a lovely stay. We arrived in the dark and the directions given were very helpful. The house was clean and tidy on our arrival. It is a very well equipped house with everything you would need. A lovely place to stay.

Perfect holiday!

We spent a week in Slovenia at the end of may and stayed in this chalet. We fell in love with Slovenia, and all the interesting attractions. We drove around and saw many beautiful places such as Soca river, Bled, Bohini, Vrsic pass, Postojna caves, etc. Clear water, beautiful mountains, pure nature. Amazing place! The chalet itself was perfect for us and for our needs. We travelled with two kids, 2 and 5 years old. The terrace with its beautiful mountain views was our favourite spot. Indoors were clean and well-maintained. We used the downstairs bedroom and sofabed for sleeping. It was very suitable for us because the kids were able to sleep near us. The stairs were steep as was clearly stated but it was no problem for us. The chalet was well equipped and we found everything we needed. Maybe a few more outdoor games would have been nice. Customer service was good, all our questions were answered and we received good instructions and brochures before our arrival. We would absolutely consider staying in the chalet again and would highly recommend it to others as well. If possible, book two weeks, one went by too fast :)
