Traditional Alpine chalet in a tranquil location with stunning mountain views

Updated: 06-Oct-2016
Self catering accommodation, in a great location, just 25 mins from airport

The Chalet is just 25min drive from the airport and is located in a hillside hamlet 620m above the Medieval town of Kamnik. It has great views of the limestone peaks of the Kamniske Alps and is surrounded by beautiful Alpine countryside. The traditional chalet-style accommodation comprises a large 1st floor bedroom with balcony sleeping four. The downstairs bedroom sleeps two. The living-room has a corner sofa and woodburner for those cosy evenings in. The galley-style kitchen is well equipped. Outside is a large terrace with comfortable seating plus seating for alfresco dining. There is garden on all sides and a barbecue. The basement has laundry facilities and ample storage for skis, etc. With compact but comfortable accommodation, the chalet is ideal as a tranquil all- year-round retreat to 'get away from it all', for a romantic break, Skiing holiday, or a central base within easy reach of all Slovenia's main attractions.

In and around Kamnik:: The chalet is in a tranquil hilltop location above the delightful medieval town of Kamnik.

There is plenty of garden and outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful alpine setting of the chalet and there are several very enjoyable walks starting directly from the chalet taking in forests, alpine meadows, the quaint local villages, spectacular views of the mountains and overlooking the whole of the Ljubljana basin.

The local town of Kamnik has an excellent choice of restaurants, café bars and shops.

This atmospheric little town, with its baroque architecture, narrow streets full of character , castles and churches is a popular choice for visitors, the tourist information office is located in the centre of town along with numerous tempting pavement cafes and bars to enjoy coffee, ice cream or a leisurely lunch.

Another local must-see is the high mountain pasture plateau of Velika Planina 1600m above sea level, the best-preserved herdsmen settlements in Europe, reached by cable-car ride

Activities:: When the snow falls this area is a winter wonderland, with the local ski resort of Krvavec...one of Slovenias most popular ski resorts only around 9 miles from the chalet. The gondola also operates in the summer, taking paragliders, bikers and walkers.

Other local activities include walking and trekking on beautiful alpine trails for all ages and abilities along rivers, gorges, waterfalls, mountains and forests. Road and mountain biking are also very popular with recommended routes available, paragliding, fishing and horse riding.

Slovenia has so much to offer as a holiday destination, from it's friendly people, beautiful alpine scenery, the idyllic lakes of Bohinj and Bled, the Adriatic coast and world famous Postojna and Skocjan caves to the vibrant capital of Llubljana . The superb range of activities and experiences for all ages makes this is a country visitors fall in love with and revisit again and again. For more information please CONTACT US FOR OUR WEBSITE.

Beautiful Labrador

  • 5 of 5

What can you say about Slovenia - scenery, people, value - one of the best destinations for us, we'll be back !

Initially the remoteness of the chalet was of concern, but after 1 day we realised how privileged we were to stay here and enjoyed the tranquility beyond words.

Good luck Mark & Trish, we hope to return.

Richard & Lesely.

P.S. Look out for the beautiful labrador - he likes BBQ's.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your comments Richard and Lesely, we feel that being only 10 minutes from Kamnik our guests have the best of both worlds, peace and tranquility at the chalet and all the amenities you'd need not too far away. We're pleased you met our neighbours dog "Jack", he's probably the best natured dog you're ever likely to meet, and as a result, probably the best fed dog in the village !! All the best Mark & Trish

Wonderful, well equipped chalet with beautiful views in the perfect position for seeing Slovenia.

  • 5 of 5

The chalet contained everything we needed and more. It was clean and well looked after, we even had a couple of visits from the local caretaker to make sure that problems the previous guests had with hornets had been resolved (they were) as well as to provide extra essentials such as coffee, salt and oil. We spent a lot of our time just sitting on the terrace gazing at the glorious views which constantly changed depending on the time of the day and the weather. It was a wonderful relaxing place to while away the time. Everywhere we wanted to visit was within easy driving distance on quiet well maintained roads. In fact I was so pleased we hadn't opted to stay near Bled as this was the only place we encountered any traffic jams!

Mark and Trish were fantastic to deal with, replying quickly to any correspondence and providing lots of information about the chalet and the surrounding area. Their directions were also good with photographs showing turnings etc on the way to the chalet. The chalet was great for just the two of us but would be good for families as well, although maybe the upstairs bedroom is suited more to older children rather than small ones or adults as access is difficult. Having said that the provision of the sofa bed downstairs makes the chalet very flexible.

All in all I would highly recommend this wonderful chalet as the perfect base for visiting the beautiful country of Slovenia.

Great time had in this cosy chalet

  • 5 of 5

Cosy, three-floor chalet set in beautiful countryside with great views and easily accessible to the hamlet of Kamnik, the capital of Ljubliana and ski resort of Kvacec. We were a family of four, with two children aged 4 & 8yrs. The living room and kitchen are open plan and are set on the first floor and the entrance to the chalet is also on this floor. There is an attic room above with four single beds and a balcony accessed by a ladder-type staircase. We didn't use this floor but the kids played up there a little bit. We used the ground/basement floor that comprised two interconnecting bedrooms and an ensuite. I read a review saying this floor was cold, but it very quickly heated up once the heaters were put on and there is also a log-burning stove in the main bedroom but we didn't need to use this. The log-burning stove in the living/dining area was great and 1-2 logs in the evening was enough to warm up the room to a toasty temperature for quite a few hours. The chalet had everything we needed, only lacking in egg cup holders, but so what! The fields behind the chalet were great for walks and wildlife. Both sets of staircases are very steep which is emphasised by the owner, so we were always very careful going up and down and always kept an eye on the children and reminded them to go slowly and not play near the staircase. To sum it up, we had a great stay and loved Slovenia - it's absolutely beautiful and we'll definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to rebook the chalet.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your detailed review Sally, It's always nice to get feedback off of our guests (and to hear if the chalet is lacking in anything), rest assured there will be some egg cup holders in the cupboard for your next visit ! :-) Mark & Trish

A Scenic Delight

  • 4 of 5

This has been our third visit to Slovenia, with the chalet being the smallest place we've stopped, but easily made up for with the biggest views and relaxed neighbourhood.

The chalet was very well equipped, better than any other to date. Only the stairs were a slight issue, which we were aware of before we booked the chalet. In order to get to the downstairs bedroom, it is possible to go via the scenic route ie outside.

All in all in was a great place to stay. Wished we'd stopped longer.

Great time, fabulous view

  • 5 of 5

We have highly appreciated our stay in the chalet. The view is stunning and we made the most of the terrace. Furthermore the chalet is fully equiped, anything you might need is there. All was ready for our arrival, bed prepared, even the baby cot was installed. It is perfectly located, there are a lot of attractions nearby and we even went to Maribor and Ptuj on a day trip. Having a young child we really appreciated the Snovik therms close by. Slovenia is a wonderful country, people are among the nicest we met and we recommend to stay at Mark and Patricia's place to discover this country as they are very keen on providing all information.
